Action/Status: Prepares to scout the L’Hoi village

Silas focuses his mental facilities, and tenses his core in preparation for whatever comes. His hand moves to his lasor pistol but hopes he doesn't have to draw it.

The jungle falls eerily quiet.
The L'Hoi pause and crouch carefully watching the foliage very carefully.
The largest L'Hoi grips his spear and seems particular anxious.
Silas sees a large shadowy form moving quickly through the jungle along the left side of the path.

Back at the ship, Lloyd is blissfully unaware of the danger his friends find themselves in and is engrossed in tightening up a few loose nuts on the life support pipes. As he works he idly sings a song from the archives.

"I'll take you ridin' into the ..."

He hums the next words as he inspects his work, and his hand finds its way to the metal hull of the ship near his head to tap out a rough beat.

"get it on the red line overload *bum bum-bum*
You'll never know what you can do *bum bum-bum*
Until you get it up as high as you ...."

He trails off as he lets his wrench fall to his waist, attached on a string to his belt, and makes his way down the hall to his next task, his right hand loosely imitating a guitar rift.

Still unaware, Dax pensively watches the L'Hoi.

Unsure what we are supposed to do? Is there an action cue?

Wei saw the agitation among their L'Hoi companions, though he could not fathom the source of their consternation. He squinted once again at the tropical foliage, but saw only a dense wall of Ahirian flora.

Legendary sages of Old Terra purportedly subsisted off air alone--such was their harmony with nature. Growing up in Mingdu, air itself was in short supply, let alone the kind of bounty of life that existed here on Ahiri. He and others in his society had learned to find harmony between individuals. To create an understanding society where scarce resources were allocated in accordance with celestial order.

Paradoxically, Wei realized he was more at ease in the glistening glassy sprawl of Rilloo or the cramped sterile halls of Mingdu than he was here, in this lush jungle teaming with life.

He kept quiet and let those more in tune with this environment act according to their best judgement.

OOC - Silas is the only one who saw anything, so I'll give him a chance to post but if it goes another day or so I'll just carry on

Silas A. Corvus: Expert Technician (HP: 5) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Stiffens and Shivers

Silas tenses as goosebumps roll down his spine and along his forearms at the sight of the shadowy form slinking along the jungle foliage. At least I know what kind of bite electrons have, Silas thinks to himself. Then announces in a firm, calm, low, level voice, “To our left. Something large.” He palms his laser pistol loosely, hoping he won’t have to use it.

"That is far from reassuring... Did it seem.. hostile?" The nervousness is clear in Tatiana's voice.

The L'Hoi crouch and move into what you assume is a defensive formation. Spears pointed out towards the jungle.
A high pitched, squeal announces the creatures presence.
A shadowy form about five feet tall rushes through the bushes away fro the group.

Wei was only barely conscious of what just transpired, but he felt secure inside the L'Hoi's defensive formation... not to mention whatever protective psionic aura Tatiana extended to them.

"The hunter makes like scythefish?" [Is the creature going to circle back and attack from another angle?] He ended the question with a croaking click to indicate the interrogative.

Dax: Chaos and Beat-downs (HP: 7) (AC: 17)
Action/Status: Remaining defensive.

Dax sees the large shape... Fleeing. She takes a step sideways to interpose between it and Wei, but doesn't draw her weapon. I am still not certain of these L'Hoi... No need to show them all our cards.

"A scout for the flesh-eating lizardmen?"

Silas A. Corvus: Expert Technician (HP: 5) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Maintains a Vigilant Posture

Silas remains silent, keeping a rigid posture and scanning the foliage of the jungle with wary eyes. Lizardman teeth is not how I want to die today, thank you. Salivating, slimy gums and cold leathery skin! Another shiver rolls down his spine just thinking about it. His hand tightens ever so slightly around the pistol grip as he awaits a response to Wei's question to the L'Hoi.

"It could be a joint effort. The L'Hoi once used the Biters' pack instincts to domesticate them, though it's something of a lost art now. Silas, did you get a good look at it? Did it look... lizardesque?"

While maintaining focus on the jungle, "No, just a shadowy figure. A Large, shadowy figure. Hopefully it's full, as in not presently hungry."

Nikolai

Nikolai's fingers drummed nervously on his laser pistol as he scanned the jungle. "I didn't get out of all those scrapes to end up eaten by a lizard," he murmured.

Wei smiled, somewhat despite himself. "You stitched me together again after we failed to get the drop on that chromed ruffian on Epsino 8. Nothing on this planet can be as scary as she was."

Silas A. Corvus: Expert Technician (HP: 5) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Maintains His Composure...For Now...

"I don't know about that Wei. Have you ever seen a Lizard eat?" Silas shivers at the thought of those razor sharp saliva dripping teeth clamping down on his flesh. "Perhaps not as scary, but definitely not the best way to go. I'll pass on the nasty lizard drool, thank you."

A piercing, high pitched scream comes from somewhere in the jungle close to where you saw the moving shadow.
As you try and make out what's going on, you see the thick vegetation shaking and moving as if several creatures are moving through it quickly

Suddenly a scaly , large (about 5 feet tall at the shoulder) lizard jumps a good ten feet from the foliage and lands on top of the largest L'Hoi and begins raking it with it's claws.
Screams from the unfortunate creature echo around the jungle.
