Then i read thebackground and i thought.."there MUST be a better picture somewhere"
then i stared at the cartoonish picture and realized....."its pretty close to perfect as is"...

It's pretty over the top. When I first came across the pic, I couldn't stop laughing. Honestly, every time I look at it, it still puts me in stitches.

I can't wait to play this nutball.

Poor Hedges.....red shirt NPC
Poor Benson.....also wearing red
Poor Thorar.....reduced to NPC status.....
Poor Darius....wait, .......poor Darius?
Yes folks, the one who had Powerful Enemy AND Iuz on his character sheet, the one who failed his dex check and brought you all here, has bowed out. :?
Oh well, NPC status. Kind of like the Group W Bench. Anyone else want out?
Maybe the ones who bailed are the smart ones, Skuzz got his Hardby Marines.
Jacob got into the Bard College.
Any suggestions?

I TRY to make my games different. by bringing a seemingly overpowering threat of danger, and at first level, I'll always usually leave a way out. Sometimes you find it, sometimes ya dont. Sometimes I push you through.
Besides, I had to make it tough. At least 4 players had Powerful Enemy on their sheets. I didn't tell them to put it there.

Lets do some purely hypothetical....
Garth flies away heading for home, Bazil relectantly gets back in his cage, Darius falls to the 'poison', Branc, Agrim and Nayman can only watch in horror as the beast leaps and rips into the front rank of Benson & Thorar. I can end it real quick.

Thankfully , and hopefully, that isnt what happens.

No, I'll fight to the bitter end- whether that means my escape, or getting my tiny skull beat in by the thug with the quarterstaff.

If I die, I'll roll up a new character and start again. ;)

Nayman.

Save vs. Poison: [1d20] = 20

he he.
Spread some of that luck around, Vargr! ;)

So, who'd we lose now, Stone?

Hee, hee. Yeah, it'll be a miracle if the little whackadoodle survives long enough to go on more than one adventure. He sure is a hoot to play, though!

It's the magic of the mega-macro. Ever since we started using those things, our die rolls have been charmed! :D

Hey Stone, you familiar with the new Gygax Magazine? (http://gygaxmagazine.com/) I heard on RFI podcast that Tim Kask was at the unboxing for their first issue and has at least written something for them. Luke and Ernie are involved also, I hear. Going to have to check out a copy...

Can't wait to see how this round of combat plays out...

Yeah, they mentioned on RFI they had something like a google hangout set up, so TK must have been in on that. Anyway, ordered a copy, hoping for some goodies from the new TSR...

Alas, garycon, not to be this year...

Hi, Blazeguard! Glad to see our dwarf won't be NPC pudding anytime soon! He can just aim for regular PC pudding with the rest of us... :D

Hey Stone, heard Tim Kask on RFI. Really interesting to hear his thoughts on lots of different topics...

Huh, what? Did someone say that about Tim? Don't know about anybody else, but I've always been a guy who likes to listen to oldtimers. I count experience a lot higher than fancy theories. Things don't change that much, after all... :)

Hey, Stonejuz, I just remembered, are we supposed to be leveling up? Should we have that done before this "rest" period is over? Been too busy to even think about it, but probly can level up tomorrow if that's the plan. Something tells me we're gonna need it...

Yea, level up here. But remember, if you want to take NEW skills, weapons, abilities, etc....you have to find in-game trainers.
Example: Thorar could teach Two Handed Weapon. Benson could teach Shields, Branc could teach Spellcraft ( i think), etc....
You dont have to find trainers to increase the non weapon proficiencies that you already have. You get 5 points to spend, or save....
Im sure everyone will have a bunch of questions, so.....ask away.....

Perhaps any purists in the group may not WANT to level at a point this early into a game. Now would be the time to mention that, if so.
