Yulia readies her short bow and looks for a clear shot above the party's heads if they advance towards the plants. She calls out, "Are you still with us, Palgravadorix?"

OOC: I'm assuming it is an attack but maybe it just wants to cuddle.

Ulfang the barbarian:

Seeing his companion in trouble, the huge barbarian suddenly sprang like a wild panther. "Hold your fire," he growled to the archers as he savagely slashed his great sword in a ferocious arc to hack the druid free!

2H Bastard Sword to hit: [1d20+5] = 17+5 = 22, damage: s/m: [2d4+6] = 4+6 = 10, l: [2d8+6] = 9+6 = 15
(Targeting the tendril connecting druid to plant.)

Keeping his distance, Travix gets a clear view of the thing accosting his friend. He is about to unleash his magic upon the thing when Ulfang leaps in.

If the tendril holding the druid isn't severed by the huge barbarian, Travix will unleash his magical energy dart upon the bulb.

Casting: Magic Missile (but only if necessary)

Ritbert the Bold

The fighter follows the barbarian, roaring expletives, weapon drawn.

Ulfang's blade cuts deep into the tether of the plant creature but fails to sever it. Ichor leaking from the cut, the thing begins to retract, Palgravadorix in tow.

That plant has got to have sack to attack a druid. We'll have him cut free in no time, boasts the dwarf as he moves in to attack with trident the plant, which has captured the druid.

To hit: [1d20] = 10

Travix unleashes his magic spell into the wounded tentacle.

Magic Missile [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4

Yulia Carter

Yulia moves from her position at the rear of the party eastwards to the edge of the stream and hopes for a clear line of sight to the second plant.

Ulfang the barbarian's greatsword was as long and cruel as the reign of an unjust king.

It became a blur of silver as Ulfang hacked murderously at the retracting tendril, trying to free the druid before it was too late.

2H Bastard Sword to hit: [1d20+5] = 9+5 = 14, damage: s/m: [2d4+6] = 4+6 = 10, l: [2d8+6] = 9+6 = 15

Kelsey holds her action, she does not want to become a halfling yo-yo stuck on the tentacles.

Osford rushes forward and puts one arm around Palgravadorix' shoulders and tries to pull him away from the creature. His free hand still holding the torch.

Ritbert thrusts the trident at the plant, but it's hard leafy exterior causes the trident to scrap by ineffectually.

Travix's magical missile impales the plant creature through the tentacle filled pulp causing it to squirm frantically jostling the poor druid in its grasp.

The heavy sword slices through the tendril as it attempts to retract. The tentacle filled bulb falls to the floor of the cavern with the druid however Osford is able to grab the entangled druid before he and the bulb hit the floor. The heat from Osford's torch begins to scorch the tendrils and they shrivel, detaching from the druid.

There is a clear line sight to the other plant creature from anywhere on this side of the stream though it hasn't moved yet.

Sword in hand, Ulfang the barbarian stood his ground between the druid and the plant monster and gave a hearty, black laugh, "Plant stairs. Plant watchdogs. You'll get along well with the masters of this place, druid!"

Then, to the group: "Their watchdogs burn well enough. Flaming arrows to finish them?"

The fighters next attack: flaming arrows (if Osford will oblige with his torch).
First attack[1d20] = 5
Second attack[1d20] = 4

It's just not my day, mutters the dwarf after the colossal point blank misses.

The frail wizard looks a bit embarrassed that his spell likely caused the druid even more grief than intended.

"Sorry about that my friend. Do you require any......other..... assistance?"

He nods his head at the large barbarian's suggestion to light the other plant monster up from a distance this time, but cringes slightly at Ritbert's first attempt.

Yulia Carter

"I doubt Palgravadorix could get along with anyone who turns plants against druids. Is he injured?"

"The other plant hasn't attacked. Perhaps it cannot reach across the stream."

Yulia declines any offer to set fire to her arrows. It looks way too dangerous.

OOC: Imagine rolling a 1.

Though Ritbert's arrows do not fly close to the second plant creature, it does seem to try and twist away from the flame as it passes nearby.

"Try another volley," suggested Ulfang the barbarian as he crouched, scanning for tracks in areas where the party hadn't trod yet, that were well beyond the reach of either plant watchdog.

Right then. Another volley on the way.

Uh, maybe I'll just stick to trident, says the crestfallen dwarf...
