Saracen nods at Joe as he speaks. As the thud occurs the half orc grabs hold of the sides of the craft. Then he knocks back. Twice. Quickly

Avaala the Grey

As something hits the underside of the boat, Avaala becomes acutely aware that he left his staff in his shack. With a sigh, he grabs at the side of the boat with one hand, while the other hand pats his daggers, comforted that he is not entirely without weapons. Then, the other hand goes to a boat rail as well, hanging on tightly.

Maag

Having just escaped being fed to the sharks, Maag really, really doesn’t want to get eaten by some other sea creature. He redoubles his efforts at the oars, not caring if they end up at the dock or simply run ashore at the closest point on the beach.

The Mystery Of The Green Flash
Leaving the Ship
Godsday, The 2nd of Goodmonth
Night, Cloudy, Humid, Less Buggy

With the heavy chained shackles now starting to cut into his huge wrists, 1 dam the brute known as Maag pushes through his pain and rows even harder once the boat starts getting bumped. The others all hold on tight as the boat jerks through the calm surf, each of them wondering what they will be able to do if the small craft gets capsized. Saracen tries knocking back on the floor of the boat, but that action proves futile.

After a few minutes of more slamming and bumping into the bottom of the hull, the half-orc propels the vessel close enough to shore where it eventually stops in the shallow waters. Only a few hundred yards from the dock, Maag pulls the boat up right onto the sandy beach, getting no arguments from Joe about his lack of navigational skills.

The fisherman picks his son up out of the boat and gently carries him back to Beachtown. "Please pull the boat up all the way out of the surf and tie it off so it is still here tomorrow. I must attend to my boy now. Once he awakens, I will talk to him about all of this. I think he might be more willing to tell me things than to have you brutes try to drag the information out of him. If he tells me anything important, I will seek you out in the morning." The man starts away and then turns back briefly. "And he BETTER wake up!!!"

Actions?

You can finish up anything you want to do that relates to this thread right here. I will get some XP figured out and posted soon. And thanks for another fun little mini-venture! :D

Saracen nods to Joe. Thank you for escorting us out to the boat. Has anything thumped they boat before in that manner? Do you know what it might be? Until the morning then. If he doesn’t I can offer up some more healing. He should be fine.

He then turns to the other half-orc and begins to work the chains still clasping the fighters limbs.

Hold still and stop your struggling whilst I try and get these things off you. There is a spare hammock or two in the shack I share, the others are not back yet as far as I know.

With that he says good night to Avaala and retires exhausted.

thank you. I wasn’t sure the pair of us weren’t making a huge mistake. So phew. :D

Joe turns back to answer the question about the thumping on the boat.

"Yes, I have dealt with that before, a few times. Usually only at night, and well off the shore. Us fishermen don't know what it is, and none of us has ever been able to see the creatures for ourselves. If you shine some light down near the water, it usually stops."

Maag

Maag picks up his chest of gear and walks off after Saracen, figuring his fellow half-orc will have somewhere to sleep that night. He also needs some privacy to recover his coin-purse...

Avaala the Grey

Avaala thanks Saracen again for the healing prayer, and considers asking Maag if there is anything else he can remember, but decides it can wait for morning. Still sore from the arrows, he hobbles back to his shack. He checks to make sure Rollo still has water, and if not, the two of them take a short walk, and fetch some water while they are out.

"You know, buddy," he says to the mastiff. "This is really unacceptable. We need to come up with a better way of bringing water to town. Those women, and that skinny guy with the halberd, are beating themselves down, every day. There has to be a better way." He considers the issue as he and Rollo take care of business. Rollo doesn't offer any observations on the problem. Then the two of them return to the shack and get some sleep. (Or even more sleep, in Rollo's case.)

Avaala the Grey

Avaala sleeps deeply and dreams vividly.... He's back on the Green Flash, cowering behind the wheel as the archer in the crows nest rains arrows down on him. He's hit!! And again!!

'I'm going to die out here!' he thinks. 'How can he see me? He shouldn't be able to see me in this dark!'

And then an unnatural calm befalls the mage. 'That's right. He shouldn't be able to see me. I'm transparent, clear as glass, invisible to his eyes and impervious to his bow.' All the while, there is a formula, a magical expression of light and shadow, running through the background of his dream, slowly sinking into his brain. There it takes form and, about an hour before dawn, Avaala awakes and by the light of a candle, quickly writes down the formula and the associated incantation. He realizes just how useful this might be....
