Spells are memorized (or prayed for) after a rest cycle. They cannot be changed once studied (or prayed for) until after the next rest cycle. There is approximately 16 waking and 8 resting hours that makes up one full cycle and, though you can certainly rest longer if you like, spells can only be regained once per 24 hours. (approx)

Keep in mind that it is after sunset right now.

Nothing to see (or hear) here. :D

Go ahead and make a normal action if you like.

Perhaps we should start discussing strategy and possible actions here for certain instances where it's smarter to consult the group than just act alone (this is the disadvantage to play-by-post but oh well).

For example, I'm very intrigued by the various items on the table, but I also have a feeling if I pick them up it will trigger a trap or perhaps that watermelon thing will attack me. I've considered detect magic (I don't currently have it prepared but the cleric does) but I'm still not sure if that really solves anything.

Another thing to consider is the door Zefarrel approached and didn't hear/see anything. Now our DM might just be making her roll something just for shits and giggles, but what if that's not the case? Secret door maybe? Or some sort of creature waiting to attack anyone who investigates to closely? We might want to have one or both of the thieves hear noise over there.

This is just my thought process so please I encourage everyone to discuss ideas on what to do.

I agree on coordination. There is a lot of things going on in this room. (BTW, I have detect magic and find traps spells available). We've got items on the table that are probably magical & may be needed, or result in something appearing or coming out of the closet if touched. There is also the "watermellon", the illusion of a fire, and probably a secret door somewhere (the fireplace maybe?). As a half-elf, I should be on secret door duty as I have a 2 in 6. The room is heavily carpeted, so could be a trap door underneath. I suggest focus on one thing at a time. Others could be on guard or observing "what happens if...." Such as: we could see if we can get the watermellon to respond to something - drop something on the floor maybe or cut the carpet. The offender could then move out of the way while others watch his/her back in case of attack from mellon-boy. Others still could watch the portals / fireplace. My opinion would be to look for secret doors 1st, the listen at the closet door, then maybe open it (or go the other way & put a couch in front of it so something coming out would be delayed).

Coordination is good. I see Elitir as intelligent enough to be curious, so she is going to look about when she has the opportunity (there were 3 of us watching the watermelon after all). She certainly makes a better guard/searcher than anything else.

This sounds like a good idea to me. Even if people just post ideas etc.

Okay based on our very thorough search of the room so far, I think it might be time to move on to a different location. I feel like perhaps someone should pick up each of the items on the table (never know when they could be of use) and then let's pick a new direction cause we've spent a decent amount of time in the entry room and found nothing particularly significant (that we can tell thus far). We'll probably find more answers elsewhere

I'm OK with moving on. I've already got the C off the table. It may be worthless, but you never know. My vote would be to check out the door down the south hall.

Moving on works for me. I'd suggest the door with the giggling.

Apologies for the lack of activity. I was out of town this week for work and my laptop crapped out on me the first day of travel. That wasn't fun. Anyway, I'm back in the office and Tech has me back up and running... for the time being.

I should be good for normal posting now.

So I meant to ask before, in the cold cabinet are place settings, meaning sets of plates, cups, bowls, silverware, etc.? I got confused before because you said they had writing on them, so I started imagining jars with labels and such. Also because I can’t figure why place settings would be in a cold cabinet. It’s very possible I’ve just mis-read something...

Plates, cups, goblets, etc. All of them were clear like ice, and very cold. They are all finely inscribed in some foreign language. The inscription looks to be the same on all of them. There is no silverware, or labeled jars inside.

This invitation extends to any of you as well.

If you like the way this game is run so far, but would prefer something that moves a bit faster, feel free to check out my sandbox to see if that might interest you as well. :D
