Chp. 9 - Keep on Keeping On

Fingal will gladly follow his friends in hot pursuit of the puny pilferers.

"Sssseee Assssh, there in the busssshesss. Letsss get him."

The Lizardman sets off at a fair old llck towards where he saw the hobbit hiding. He is aiming to grab him rather than attack with a weapon.

Wrenly the Brown

"Ah, here we are! Asherrion! One moment, please. This gentleman will practice his healing art upon you before you go running off somewhere." says Wrenly upon exiting the back door with the priest, relieved that they've found at least one party member to help him assure he's got his third of a scroll's worth of trade. "If you please, sir," he says to Aquar, "This one needs it the most. He's not usually this grey..." To himself Wrenly reflects that, so far, this has been a horrible vacation. Not relaxing at all.

Asherrion is thankful for the healing and then gives chase

Swilbosh please roll to hit/grab.

Aquar heal on Asherrion [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2 Ash gains 2 HP.

Swilbosh the lizardman sprints across Vol's Way and makes a grab for the hobbit thief. He misses the little bugger badly, and the half-pint cutpurse darts away. Across the street, Asherrion and Wrenly witness the scene.

"Well good luck with that," quips Aquar Ionian, sailor-priest of Procan. "See you later today." He strolls off.

Meanwhile, in front of the tavern amid bushes off the plaza, Fingal chases after the other hobbit. Human thief quickly closes in on demi-human thief. Wulfhart and Groyn are quick on his heels.

Fingal pounces! He grabs not the hobbit, but a gnome pissing in the bushes with his back turned! "What the hell!" screams the gnome, turning around in mid-stream and spraying Fingal with yellow showers.

Moving ahead with roll for Swilbosh...
- Initiative: Monsters [1d6] = 1, Party [1d6] = 1. Simultaneous.
- Swilbosh grab [1d20] = 1
- Swilbosh fumble? (50%) [1d100] = 85? No.
- Asherrion was being healed for his action this round. He can now give chase.
- Fingal is much faster than his armored dwarf and fighter friends, so he reaches the mistaken target first.

Despite being easily evaded by the Hobbit, Swilbosh gives chase again.

"Ssssskriiisssss!" is all he says

"Yes, we'll be seeing you," Wrenly replies as Aquar departs. Lifting his robes to knee-level, he scampers off after Asherrion and Swilbosh in case by random luck he is able to assist in the capture of the thief. He's not at all confident he can help, short of outright murdering him with a Magical Missile. He's not quite willing to go that far.

Hey! Watch who yer spraying there shorty!

Say, did you happen to see a thieving little halfling run through here just now?

Fingal ignores the warm, yellow shower. It's nothing that he hasn't seen hundreds of times back on the old farm.

Swilbosh pivots using his big tail, a lizardman trick, and lunges after the hobbit. Asherrion the Gray bolts forward. Together they grab and man-handle the little thief.

"Let me go!" he yells. "HELP! I'm being attacked by monster ruffians!"

Wrenly arrives and admits to himself it does seem an odd scene, a huge lizardman and small gray elf-alien humanoid holding down a hobbit. It doesn't seem they need help.

Meanwhile, out front near the plaza, Fingal, Groyn and Wulfhart confront the angy gnome. His name is Gardner and he wears a pointy red hat. "No, I haven't seen any damn hobbit!" he answers irritably, zipping up his pants.

- Swilbosh grab [1d20] = 19. Yes. Interesting, Ash rolled a 19 too.

Swilbosh just keeps hold of the little dude, waiting to see if the magic being used by Ash has any effect.

The hobbit breaks into a big smile and says to Asherrion. "Hi there friend!"

Meanwhile, at Mentzer's Magnificant Manse, Porphyry the satyr is met by a rotund man in red and yellow robes, a stylized 'M' emblem on his chest in the upper left area.

"Good afternoon sir! Welcome! I am Ronaldius. How can we of the House of Metzner be of pleasure?"

The satyr inquires about lodgings.

"Only the best, good sir! The Lord package offers superior accomodation in a luxury suite, with personal valet and love slave. Our Adventurer Package includes massage, armor cleaning, and weapon sharpening."

"I'm in the bushes can't ya see?! What are doing bothering folks in the bushes!"

Wulfhart and Groyn look on in silence, apparently not sure what to think.

"I should report you to the sheriff!" yells the gnome. "You pervert!"

Townsfolk are pausing at the commotion. Fingal hears hushed whispers.

Asherrion smiles, Hello there, my new friend. I'm called Asherrion and the lizardman giving you a hug is Swilbosh, also a friend. What might your name be? And where might you be going in such a great hurry?

Groyn giggles at Fingal's wet pants!

Wrenly arrives, panting, to where Asherrion and Swilbosh converse with the halfling. "Well, he seems friendly for a criminal. Have you ironed out your differences? It's good we can all get along," he says. As the others talk, Wrenly will casually inspect the surrounding shops and / or stalls, looking for any kind of magic supplier where he might replenish his spell components, as well as an alchemist's shop, or anything of the sort. It suddenly occurs to him that securing some healing admixtures may not be out of line, considering the party's propensity for getting themselves injured.
