Re: The Keep
Anne the farm-girl and Gustav the bastard
Anne and Gustav do as instructed, and leap to the bushes. Anne clutches her newly acquired axe in hand but has a small scythe at the ready as well. Gustav peeks delicatley through the bushes to see if it's a magical talking bear they've stumbled upon...

Re: The Keep
Adair Dabney; Merchant's Illegitimate Son
Adair is quick to follow Clay and hide behind a different tree. From there, he peers around the side and begins drawing holy symbols in the air to afford the others some sign of divine grace.
For those who have seen the movie, I am picturing Adair to be very much like Beni from The Mummy (1999) when he is confronted by Imhotep, going through all his holy symbols trying to find one that will work.
Kennard Harrisson; Town Gravedigger
Kennard allows Gared to steer him towards the bushes and manages to stay still as Gared talks to the giant.

Re: The Keep
A huge figure lumbers out of the darkness, casting a crude bearskin blanket to the floor. It approaches the mouth of the cave, its beady eyes blinking at the bright sunlight. It the largest thing you ever saw, at least 9 feet tall of fat and muscles. It stops at the edge of the cave, a few feet from you, a large club in one clawed hand.
A loud rumbling voice.....
Bolg eat little man now.

Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
As the monster emerged from the cave Gared cocked his head to the left. He was disappointed. His thing was big, but he was no giant. Bolg!? We were looking for you! We thougt you would be bigger though... Oh well. We were told you might help us with a problem. We have a a herd ponies and sheep to pay you with. Are you interested?

Bolg growls and leans forward menacingly.
No talk! Give gold now! Or Bolg eat!

Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
Gared shouts, Scatter! as he dodges to the right, swinging his warhammer at the ogre's knees.
Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
Gunther thinks supplications to his god as he heeds the woodsman's advice, running to the left. He turns around when he feels he has gone far enough and stabs the sword at the passing ogre.
Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
Clay's chest rumbles with the vibrations of the ogre's shouting. Defintiely going back to locksmithing, fleets through his head before the adrenaline pushes it aside. Then he feels warmth running down his leg, which brings him to his senses and he fumbles with his sling momentarily. He picks out a rock and thinks how futile this effort is, but it is better than charging in with a dagger... He launches it at the ogre's mass.

Kennard Harrisson; Town Gravedigger
Kennard looks at the small knife in his hand; it looked even smaller than it was in his large hands. At Gared's shout, Kennard twists and runs along side of the beast of a man and brings that knife over head and plunges it straight at the giant's back.
Adair Dabney; Merchant's Illegitimate Son
Adair continues to hide behind the tree trunk reciting prayers to the gods, asking for the strength and courage to move his immobile legs and aid the others.

Re: The Keep
The Ogre charges forth , eager to slay, but the bright light, & several trees and bushes impede his progress.
Most of the group scatter, but a few stay to fight, hoping their numbers will win the day......
Clay hurls a stone and to his surprise it hits and opens a small wound the Ogre ignores completely.
Gared, Gunther & Kennard surround the creature and attack- but are unable to land a telling blow.
The Ogre grabs Gared , but the woodsman easily dodges away.

Anne, Gustav, Kevam & Keram, Lobo, Napius, & Adair hide.

The Wilward brothers charge to the fray with their shovels raised high and strike when in range.

Anne raises her borrowed axe and attempts to circle to the ogre's side or back if possible, axe raised high. Meanwhile, Gustav leaps for cover...

Re: The Keep
Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
Greatly encouraged by the charge of three more of the party, Gunther Gets caught up in the moment. Foolishly, he tries to draw the ogre's attention by taunting it. Bolg! You're such a runt! I've seen heffers bigger than you! Gunther uses the torch to try and burn the monster - or at least singe its fur.
Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
Clay almost let out a cry of joy as his stone hit home - the only hit of the battle so far. But seeing the minimal damage done, he decides it is foolishness. The beast needs to be distracted - and preferably by something other than his clumsy, supposed body guard. Clay reaches into his pouch for a gold coin and launches it at the ogre's head, hoping his gold-lust is stronger than his blood-lust. Then his party can descend on it more easily.
Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
Again, Gared uses the two distractions to pound his warhammer into the beast's knees, grunting with every labored swing.
If it is okay, I would like to launch three gold pieces at the ogre (with Clay). If it isn't okay for Clay to use the sling, he will just throw them at the ogre.
Also, Clay was supposed to use a stone/sling last turn, not throw his dagger. Just in case we end up running away.
@ MisterKent, Gustav could always start scouting the cave...

Just hoping to distract the ogre so the would-be fighters can attack without being attacked back. Trying to fight dirty!
I'll mark off three gold coins and one stone gone.

Re: The Keep
Clay hurls coins and insults in the Ogres face- and he is lucky again! A coin strikes the Ogre in the eye , causing him to flinch in surprise, momentarily distracting him.
The Ogre faces several foes from all directions and his small mind has trouble responding.
Kennard attacks with his dagger, but cant get close enough to strike.
One of Wilward brothers lands a strong blow with a shovel, and the Ogre bellows in pain & anger.
Anne tries to strike with her hand axe but misses.
Gunther only distracts the Ogre slightly with his torch, but cant get close enough to actually burn him.
Gared hits the creature in the leg with his hammer, but its not a powerful blow.
The Ogre swings a wild blow at Kennard , but misses completely. (thanks to a coin in the eye) The club shatters a small sapling with the strength of the blow. Any hit by the Ogre will certainly mean death. The Ogre has several small wounds, but is still eager to fight.
The rest of the group hide.

Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
Seeing how effective objects to the eye could be, Clay loads his sling againg - but not with his precious gold. He waits for a good shot and hurls the stone at the ogre's face, hopeful for a hit to the other eye.
Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
Gared grunts as he spins into the ogre's mass again, Thrice-damned monster! Be gone from this land! his warhammer aimed at anything he can hit on the ogre.
Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
Frustrated by his shorter reach, Gunther charged directly into the beast. The clumsy farmer desperately tried into avoid stumbling over his club foot and avoid being hit by the ogre's club as he lunged forward with the torch and sword outstretched.* Together now! Work together!
*Guther is trying for a hit with the sword this time. And if you don't mind me asking, what damage does a torch do? (I am looking for d4, d6, etc - not "it will singe his belly hair."

Anne will try to strike with her axe once more, focusing on the giant's legs, hoping to bring him down...
Gustav will wait until the next round of attacks begins, and attempt to dash past the melee and scout out the cave for any glorious goodies!

Re: The Keep
Kennard Harrisson; Town Gravedigger
Kennard's eyes open wide at the destruction of the tree at the hands of the ogre. Knowing his bones would fail no better, Kennard back pedals a couple of steps but valor gets the better of him and he attempts to jump in close to the ogre's legs and hamstring him.
Adair Dabney; Merchant's Illegitimate Son
In a brief moment of clarity, Adair realizes his others are performing deeds of heroism the likes of which he has only read about. Pushing the fear out of his mind, he slowly makes his way in front of the tree which had been his hiding spot and begins to pray to the gods to bless the actions of his fellows and guide their hands to defeat this monster.
