"Er... " Ciar eyes the humans appraisingly, "it's a gnome house. Prepare to be cramped. And it's Bassey."
He leads the others to the elder gnome's cottage.

Moving the group, minus Fulp, here: VI. Bassy's House.

Fulp hangs out close to the inn, chatting with any locals who will talk with him.

Kassal peers in through a window of the old gnome's home and there is no sign of her.
Ciar recalls her mention of taking a trip, and figures she must have left.
"We could always check with the historian I asked to research the history of the tower, if she's still in her shop."
Ciar leads the group back to the Belhaim Record Hall
(#10).

Upon entering, an overworked woman,
Jacoba, immediately becomes defensive once she spots the halfling.
"I say a few days, not a few hours," she protests.

Ciar smiles disarmingly, "Apologies, Jacoba, I didn't come for the tower information, at least not directly. I was just wondering if you might be able to give us a little background on Baron Sarvo. I know he was one of the last lords to rule the area before Tula Belhaim, but that is about it. Is there any general information about him and his reign that you might know? Or at least give me a time frame as to how long it has been since he ruled?"

Sparrow remains quiet, trying to show respect to the elderly woman.
He enjoys listening to the conversation and even more so, the fresh outdoor air.

Jacoba lets out an audible sigh. "My apologies," she says of her defensive reaction. "Just much to do. Now, Baron Sarvo, eh?" she says, thinking. "Ah, he's a Canteclure. Baron Sarvo Canteclure is his name; a distant relative of Arturic Canteclure, Tula's husband."
Jacoba goes on to explain how Baron Sarvo was a vicious lord who imprisoned subjects for the slightest infraction, who's lust for power led to his eventual demise at the hands of Sir Arkold Devy. "The current Baroness, Lady Origena Devy, is a decedent of Sir Arkold." she explains, adding that the Devy family has been in rule for the past two centuries.
Before rushing off to mind her duties, she says: "Hope I was of help. Oh, and don't forget to check back in a few days, maybe three... or four..." she concludes.

"Not a problem, Jacoba. Thank you for your time and information. It was quite helpful."
Ciar indicates that's about all he had in mind to do before heading to bed for the night. Then he heads back to the inn to get some sleep.

Sparrow clears his throat and gobs uncouthly a few more times on the way back to the inn. He has a couple more ales to wash any remaining residue down and then retires for a well deserved nights rest.

Kassel heads to bed as well, checking the room is secure before he settles in to slumber.

Sylvan asks the historian about ghosts. "Are there any legends of ghosts in this town. Anything from that tower? We've been down there and seen some strange things."

"No, no ghosts," Jacoba responds to Sylvan's question. "About the strangest thing her in Belhaim is Hunclay, and he seems alright by me."
The group returns to The Wise Piper after leaving the Belhaim Record Hall and, after enjoying a filling meal, retire for the night. Talia Orem assures the group that their stay in her inn is complementary for as long as they're on official business with the Baroness.
The next morning, the group wakes and returns to the dining area for some breakfast.
Is the plan to immediately return to the tower and resume explorations? Also, I will need an updated list of memorized spells from those that use them.

Sparrow rises early as usual.
Whats the plan of attack gents? I'm still not feeling the best. Should we heal up before heading back into the tower?

Fulp asks over breakfast...
So, with these possible ghosts around, is there anything we need to procure before heading back down? Oh, I asked Isaac, one of the locals about ghosts in the area, and he said they werent really a problem that people knew about. Only thing was Hunclay, and he thought he worshipped evil things.

"I've been thinkin' about that, Sparrow. It didn't seem so much an evil sort of spirit as much as it was just one what's lost his way, maybe. One of them tortured souls that just needs help finding something. Peace, maybe." Ciar shrugs, "In any case, I don't know anything about exorcising spirits, so I don't think there's anything I could do if I wanted. But maybe we could get some holy water from one of the local parishes? Not that I'd know what to do with that, either..."
If nobody wants to try and procure any holy water or otherwise do anything to prepare for dealing with spirits, then Ciar is fine with just heading back down. He is still very lightly feeling some of the effects of the fall from the other day, but it isn't anything he is worried about. He'd just as soon get back down and examine the secret room they found in the prison cell and maybe figure out how to deal with the metal guardian.

Fulp responds,
I am not sure how holy the water is around here, but I can go look for some for you... Maybe you can pour it on that mechanical contraption Sylvan mentioned and rust it out? I was going to make sure my supplies are topped off, as well.
With that he will exit the inn and walk down the street.

I have been mulling over the metal guardian too, says Kassel clearing his throat. The slime might prove an answer to getting past it, of course it might not animate and rush after us, and if it does it's likely slow, and having someone lightly armoured and fast moving check it out and fleeing back to across the descending room might just do the trick hmmmm."
The gnome indicates he is penniless and thus unable to help with procuring anything at the moment.

"You mean make it walk into the pit, like?" Ciar chews on his bottom lip thoughtfully. "Might work. If we can get it to follow and you could make some sort of illusion that the pit isn't really a pit. But..." he pauses, "what do we do with it once we've caught it in the pit?"
"Suppose we could just hit it with rocks, though that way doesn't seem very sportsmanlike..."
