just wanted to say let me know if I am posting too often, or stepping on anyones toes FonkyDondo. I hate to throw off the DM or other players.

GM- Are we rolling 2x? Once for detecting traps and then once for disabling the traps. Or once to complete both tasks

Re: Out of Character (ooc) chat
I thought the DM/GM mentioned in one of the other posts that he would roll checks such as thief checks. I'm not sure if that pertains to the gnome and dwarf mining or underground skills.

Re: Out of Character (ooc) chat
Yes, DM is rolling and specifically said he would ignore our rolls if we 'forgot'.

Re: Out of Character (ooc) chat

FronkyDondo,
DMG page 19 states: Finding And Removing Traps: Use the time requirements for opening locks. Time counts for each function. Small or large traps can be found, but not magical or magically hidden traps

Re: Out of Character (ooc) chat
Thanks for finding that, because I was thinking it *did include* larger traps (when I used to play), but I couldn't find it.
Ok - thieves *can* detect larger traps - but my earlier rule stands - DM does rolls for when the player would not know if he/she succeeded.

It's posted in rules section in forum - they use all kinds of dice depending on what skill.GreyWolfVT wrote:it was just a percentile for myself and the gnome or is it like 2e a d6?

I read the rules and it was our detect safe structures more or less though you don't word it that way specifically.

Dammit man, the paladin is lawful ... somebody has to be leading ... or how the heck can I follow.GreyWolfVT wrote:By no means is the Dwarf trying to lead, with that in mind he is just trying to restrain himself as much as others in hasty action. Call it being a veteran and having seen rushing into a situation as a risk he has watched past friends perish having done so.

Re: Out of Character (ooc) chat
well I'm really not trying to lead I hate being nominated to lead
I'm not the greatest at strategies. The pressure of leading gets to me. I guess I can lead if need be I got the STR to pound the enemies and the backers to support/aid.

Re: Out of Character (ooc) chat
Hey everyone: work is busy right now AND I just caught my daughter's damn cold. STILL POSTING- just might be once a day for the next couple of days. We'll see...
Don't be discouraged - our first encounter is very near... unforgettable...
ALSO: we are gaining a new player! He will assume the role of one of the NPCs (Gilgalore, Horse guardian). He will accompany the party after all.
Which means the Haunted Mines of Gomor... Just. Got. Tougher. (seriously)
Mu-ha-Ha-HA-HAH!!!!

you know it is never good when a DM laughs like that.

I agree, but I come from a Traveller background where you can die just rolling up a character ... so I am not afraid.GreyWolfVT wrote:you know it is never good when a DM laughs like that.
