Damiane would favor going further upstream to find a bridge or ford even if we have to get close to Phoebes village.

Still though we need to find a place to ford. I don't think anyone wants to get everything soaked.

Alright, so you head upriver, south, away from the bay, looking for a crossing. The land is rough, unsettled, and this river seems deep, wide and untamed, but there may well be something. As you ride, you certainly see occasional spots which seem to offer someone with a canoe a good launching point.

As dark descends, you see several shattered stone pylons sticking up out of the river. The long destroyed remnant of a bridge across the river, which is still a good 500 feet across at this point. On the near side of the bridge, you see a pair of stone statues at the top of a small hill. The statues are clearly of women, though they have a martial look to them, as their heads are helmeted. Together, they are holding up a large stone bowl. They are coated with green slime.

Damiane whisper something and Lady Komnene slides out of her sleeve. She points towards the odd statues and asks the cobra if she knows something about them.

Lady Komnene doesn't recognize the particular figures, though she can tell that the statues are ancient, and that there is some solar symbolism on one of the figures. She tells Damiane that there are a large number of magical statues scattered around ancient ruins, though she doesn't know if these are magical. The bowl could either be a brazier or an offering bowl, but covered in slime as it is, it's hard to tell. She urges caution, as magical statues have been said to have many purposes... Guardians, dispensers of information, warnings, or literal embodiments of divine power.

Erico Caravellino {Human Thief Lvl: 6 HP: 15/15 AC 8}:

Erico would like to have a closer look at the statues, but thinks the green slime may be alive!

Damiane turns to the group with a little grin: "Anybody here wants to take a closer look at those lovely lasses up there on the hill?"

Lucius examines the area for a good place to setup camp while the others have their attention on the statues and remnants of the bridge.

The ruins of the bridge include a number of large, toppled stone blocks that Lucius determines will provide good shelter from the prevailing west wind. There is a relatively large flat area behind them that seems like it would make a good camping spot.

Heraclides and Diana, at least, seem interested in investigating the statues. Covered, as they are, in slime, it's difficult to tell much about them beyond their position, holding up the bowl. Up close, you see that they stand on a cracked marble platform. As you approach, you hear a smal "plop" as a bit of the watery slime falls from one of the statues.

I've heard of these, Diana get well back, Cast Delay Disease on me and two other people who want to help.
Phoebe casts bless and curse, and lights a torch. So who wants to burn some slime?

Phoebe nods, stepping back. "I can slow the disease's course once it takes hold, Phoebe, but that prayer won't heal the disease or prevent it. I think we'll need a fire ready if this goes badly."

Yup, hence the torches. Does anyone have military oil? That would make this very easy.

Erico says:
"I have 4 flask of the military oil for use, 2 flasks of common oil."

Well we should start by throwing those at the various slime. Its not like you're gonna miss. Make sure you're close enough to get the blessing though.

Erico Caravellino {Human Thief Lvl: 6 HP: 15/15 AC 8}:

Erico takes off his backpack & reaches in for a military oil flask.

"Anyone have a torch?", Erico says to the party.

Curiously, none of you seems to have a torch... You do have the ability to make a fire, though, and a stick from the fire can be used to light the oil.

OOC: I have a torch in that long list of inventory. A bunch of them.

Phoebe heads over to her pack, and grabs a bundle of torches and some tinder. She lights one and hands it over to Erico before lighting a second for herself.

Erico Caravellino {Human Thief Lvl: 6 HP: 15/15 AC 8}:

Erico, uncorks a flask of military oil & takes one of the torches Phoebe hands him.

He will toss the oil flask onto the green slime, let it spread a little then toss the torch into the oil.

oops, sorry... did a quick scan through the inventories, and didn't see any, guess I missed it

Erico takes his military oil and splashes it onto the statues. The awful slime continues its slow dripping. Erico then ignites the oil, and the statues are engulfed in flame. After a bit, the flames die down, and the slime has been reduced to a layer of burned char covering much of the statues and the bowl.

Erico Caravellino {Human Thief Lvl: 6 HP: 15/15 AC 8}:

Erico will first search for Traps: Needs a 45% or lower, rolls a[1d100] = 58% so does not find any himself!

Still he will risk searching for anything unusual about the statues: [1d6] = 3
Hmmm, appears he does not find anything out of the ordinary either!
