Tychon readies his last flask of military oil and another torch.

Harald will stand guard on their side of the flames, looking to kill any rats who successfully leap over the fire.

Over his shoulder, he shouts, "Have another flask at the ready when this one burns low!"

"Tychon, how many of us can you make float? We get the two or four strongest, maybe make a rope bridge between them... It's not dignified but it's not getting eaten, either."

Babu snorts "We seem to have a lot of rats. Can you incinerate them without killing us, Tychon? I see no other way past if they keep coming like this."

Styr the Axe Murderer

Styr doesnt say anything and furiously stomps and hacks at each rat that dares to get near him.

Pesha the Wanderer

"This is my last flask!" Pesha hollers as he hurls it at the swarm. "Maybe we should have tried to come in from the sea wall", he says in jest.

"I could levitate one other, and make another fly, but would be left with little to work with against their masters.
"Perhaps some spikes in the walls would let us lift ourselves above these vile hordes."

"How about some sheets or blankets. Smoke 'em out?"

Babu tosses some of his pepper into the swarm. Rats hate pepper, right?

"It is worth trying, but if this place has sea access the smoke will be sucked out. We would be better rolling a log down the path, or a barrel. Something simple."

Round Five

The flames dancing above the puddle of oil begin to gutter, though no more rats attempt to force their way through. A sultry, feminine voice echoes down the tunnel. "Well, well, well," the voice purrs, "if it isn't the meddlers from Mellas. We wonder how much oil they have brought, and whose blood we smell."

Tychon the Blue, Mage

"It is foolish to wait here while more rats and whatever might be next is sent against us.
"We should move forward with haste and engage on our terms!"

[Hrafn]

Kaa, Shaman


"That is how we ran into rats in the first place..." Kaa mutters darkly. Ah well. No use for it.

"Pesha, take my spear. Adtas should rejoin us when he passes Ishanter to, Harald's Hawkes were they? We will nail this demon back into it's grave so that her spirit can rest." She tucks a stake into her belt for access and retrieves her shield, preparing to move forward.

Harald

"I smell nothing but cowardice. Keep hiding behind your rats. Atlanaut will be your doom soon enough."

[Fearghus]

Pesha the Wanderer

"Sweet lady, we can bring oil and more!", Pesha says in response to the sultry voice. He takes the spear from Kaa and says to his companions, "The fire will dim in moments, we must act now or retreat".

"Let us met our fate, then, and face the cowering Hunters."

Harald

The barbarian listens to his friends make a decision. They will stay and fight, not run. He smiles grimly.

As soon as Kaa brings a light to his shoulder, Harald will proceed past the puddle of oil.

I read Produce Flame (from the player's companion) as allowing the flame to be dropped or thrown repeatedly, since doing so causes the flame to "go out" and it can "go out" and "reignite" multiple times during the duration. If so, Kaa will keep a torch stowed and use Produce Flame, if not then she will simply use a torch.


Kundala will simply sit upon Kaa's shoulders once more.

As the flames die down the adventurers duck their heads slightly and enter the tunnel, which is narrow enough to require passage single file. It is short, thirty feet or so, and Harald reaches the end of it shortly, the others close behind. In he dim light provided by those behind him he sees a large cavern that extends past the radius of light cast. The floor of the cavern is even with the floor of the tunnel, and as he steps forth the barbarian hears another cacophonic squeaking and sees the approach of yet another swarm of rats!

As of now only Harald is free of the tunnel. The swarm is approaching from the front and perhaps 20' away; there is room to the left and the right of the tunnel opening, should Harald choose to move out. Please note that if Harald chooses to return to the mouth of the tunnel those behind him will have limited access past him.

Also, can someone please post the marching orders -- single and double file -- to the "Standard Operating Procedure" Thread?

Harald will step to the right and ready himself to blunt the swarm's attack when it arrives.

Harald attacks the swarm when it gets within range.

ok, maybe we should have hit up my cart and for the rest of the oil. Admittedly, its just a rats. How tough can they be?
