OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
@Eledlhur
Happy for them to meet on the road.
IIRC what I was told it's just post Time Of Troubles. Barin was originally from Citadel Adbar, but some of his clan moved to Mithral Hall recently when it was recovered. If I have that wrong then he's still based in Adbar. As a cleric of Marthammor Duin he travels all over the north, so we could have met further north and be heading south to Port Llast.
In fact we could be doing that anyway and potentially have met up with Raz in Luskan.

Well if Mithral Hall has been discovered, then I will be from there - no point in staying back at Kelvin's Cairn all by my lonesome.
So we could have just been traveling together since the start?
And met with Raz in Luskan - sounds good to me.

Raz already has a bit of a length backstory claiming he is from Triel a small village on the trade way and the dusk road this is located east of Baldur's Gate.

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Best to do that. He's not even close to having the stats for a specialty priest. Sorry man.GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 4:07 pm Alright so looking at the Specialty priest that i originally set Razillian as his stats are shy of it. Gary what would you suggest there? His required stats are only shy by mostly 11 point in each Req: Dex 14, Int 14, & Wis 14 Raz's Int is short by 2 points, Wis by 1, & Dex by 2. I can switch to just non specialty priest/cleric.
Raz would by stopping by Port Llast heading to Neverwinter he dresses a bit like a noble though he isn't born into it. Some may think he is a performer which is good enough for him. He would likely use Port Llast as a "pitstop" going to check out the "fancy" Neverwinter possibly stopping in from Luskan. As a travelling "fancy pants" Raz would be on the road often enough but not to spread the word of his god merely doing good and hoping folks see and decided to pray to his deity rather than being the preachy type. He spreads word through deeds not fancy talk.
Funny guy

Oopsy...my bad; must have missed the time frame reference. As noted later in this thread, the current time is just after the Time of Troubles. You can still be from Kelvin's Cairn.I was wondering if we could have met on the road?
I had asked hedgeknight about the current timeframe but never got a definitive answerIf Mithrall Hall already 'discovered', I intended to be from there.
If not (which is my personal preference, because it gives us dwarves something to lo look forward to), then Thurm is from Kelvin's Cairn.

I like this plan.
He was part of the original group, right?GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 5:43 pm Raz already has a bit of a length backstory claiming he is from Triel a small village on the trade way and the dusk road this is located east of Baldur's Gate.
Nice chat, folks.
I'm going with the following:
Mag and Moan will be coming from Neverwinter.
Barin, Thurm, and Raz will be heading south, having met up on the road.
Ari and Keaton...I don't know where you are or are coming from at this point. Thundertree? Neverwinter? Helm's Hold? Over the river and through the woods?

I just realized Mithril Hall is not really in a direct route toward Mirabar....hmmm.
Take a look at the most recent map in the Maps of the Realms thread...

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Looking at the map, the original game began in Red Larch but didn't go very far.
From there, the companions wandered a bit. In my reintroduction post, Winter is Coming, I suggested the characters finally went to Waterdeep, and then took a ship to Neverwinter, and are now on the road to Port Llast.
From your notes and suggestions, it still seems Mag and Moan are in Neverwinter.
Barin and Thurm, however, are in Mithral Hall...and the most direct route to Neverwinter (and ultimately Port Llast) is by way of the Surbrin River to Yartar. From there to Triboar and then along the Triboar Trail to the High Road and north to Neverwinter. Make sense? This would put at least four of the PCs leaving from Neverwinter.
Now, assuming Raz took a ship from Neverwinter to Luskan, then perhaps he is returning to Neverwinter by way of the High Road, which will pass right by Port Llast. He's likely not traveling alone. He could be part of a caravan, or he could be part of a group of like-minded travelers.
As for Ari (Darithe) and Keaton (Dave), where are they coming from? They could be in Longsaddle, or Triboar, or Yartar, or perhaps they are headed northward along the High Road (from Phadalin? from Leilon?) when they meet up with Barin and Thurm, thus, coming to Neverwinter together.
Or...they could be from Luskan, and are ready to get the hell out of that place before they get killed...or they have stirred up some trouble, and HAVE to leave in a hurry, signing on a caravan heading south, where they meet up with Raz, and thus, end up in Port Llast as the others arrive from Neverwinter.
Thoughts?

I'm happy for Baron to have taken the Surbrin River to Yartar and the trail to Neverwinter.

Ditto - I am on board with that option. And I really like the map!
Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Works for Mag!

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
I'm open to options, though I have to say the idea of Ari fleeing Luskan headed south appeals to me. With her 18 charisma and sticky fingers I think it quite likely she found trouble in the City of Sails and had to leave with little notice.

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Answer is yes Raz was in the original group which is why i am lost as to how he was getting to Port Llast to begin with as well as how the heck he was a specialty priest of Gond without the stats being right. Either way i don't think I had him adjusted to be a "specialty" priest just merely one that follows Gond regardless of all the fancy shmacy stuff a specialty one can do. He is a Gnome so of course he would worship Gond.
Now as to how Raz has access to Cantrips that was through the 1e UA book page 30.

From the new intro post, Winter Is Coming...Answer is yes Raz was in the original group which is why i am lost as to how he was getting to Port Llast to begin with
A cold wind howls off the Trackless Sea bringing the promise of heavy snow; there is a dusting of white all over. After the disappointment and despair of events in Red Larch, the companions wandered a bit as the summer passed swiftly by, finding odd jobs here and there as they wound their way south toward Waterdeep. Recruited as guardsmen, they found passage on a ship bound for Neverwinter, sailing north as the leaves began to turn and flecks of snow peppered the air. Except for some rough winds along the way, their ship made it safely to the City of Skilled Hands.

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Had a record show last night and so I will be working on invoices most of the day. If I have time this afternoon, I will do an intro post, seeing as how nearly everyone has checked in; if I don't get to it today, it will be Wednesday morning.
I appreciate your patience.

I will be pretty busy with work for the next couple of days, but I will try to keep an eye on the forums
What is a record show though? Selling vinyl records?

Yes, it's my "retirement gig"

I've been collecting records for about 50 years, and doing a lot of trading and selling for the past 30. A friend and I had a Facebook live show and we did really well. Our customers are super loyal and bought a shit ton of albums Monday night. If you feel inclined, you can find me on Facebook (and Instagram) as Cisco Kid Records.
Now...time to game!
