This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

No longer feeling the previous cold and wet shivers but now the sharp, hot shot of adrenaline-fueled desperation, Viktor strikes out again with his spear, hoping that now the spider being surrounded will give them the advantage.

To Hit: Spear [1d20] = 15, damage vs small/medium creatures [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3
Yosef Travathas: High Elf Fighter4/Magic-User3 (rredmond's Pacesetter Games "Legacy of the Unknown" OSRIC Playtest)
Brok Sterling: Human Assassin3 (ToniXX's Incursion into Newiron OSRIC Playtest)
Tanik Tremwoodak: Dwarf Cleric3 (Dave's 1e Skype Game)

DM: home-brew OSRIC "A New Hope to the West" campaign

Fireball... good!!

"What's it gonna take?"
"Everything."

I was worried no one would hit

Fueled by fear for his friends and their situation Vik lets forth ayell of despiration and strikes strikes out with his spear. The tip hits just underneath the hard outer body of the aaachnid and punctuers the soft side of the abdomen. Vik pushes with all his might until the tip of the spear bursts through the other side and the great spider drops dead.

All that ccan heard is the sound of you labored breathing, then you hear once again the sound of many scuttling feet.

Suddenly moving at an amazing rate a crature bursts into the light of the camp fire. A horror described earlier by tub and vik, a creature from the waist up one of the tattoed death mongers, but form the waist down that of a gigantic centipede.

Even having heard the description earlier could not prepare you for the sight of this monstrosity

It it's hands it wields a wicked looking obsidian sword as it charges at you.

init
[1d6] = 2

this is a large creature

Quickly realizing he is no match for such a thing, Cillian drops back and pulls the healing potion from his pack, ready to administer it to any of his friends who might need it.

Scythius initially reels back in horror at the sight of the monstrosity threatening the group, but quickly steels himself and moves to stand along alongside Osric. At his first chance, he strikes out against the beast.

Long spear [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14 [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7

Tbd launches two daggers at the creature.
Is there a DEX bonus to initiative if I'm throwing daggers?
If not, can I throw daggers withoug putting Scy in danger?
If not, then Tub tries to sneak around to attack the thing from behind.

If two thrown daggers are okay then:
[1d20+3] = 13+3 = 16 [1d4] = 2
[1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9 [1d4] = 1
Urgh. At least the first one was half way decent.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Barely catching his breath after skewering the devil-spider, Viktor recognizes the many bug-feet sound as that that the party heard previously, after the snake attack. Just as he thinks to ask if anyone else recognizes it as being the same as well, he sees the Death Monger-monstrosity come into the light. "Oh, shit!" is all that issues forth as his eyes get wide and his blood turns cold once again.

Snapping out of his shock, he rips his spear free from the dead arachnid and looks to move to a fighting position next to Osric and Scythius, stabbing out with more desperation and fear than before...

To Hit: Spear [1d20] = 12, damage vs large creatures [1d8+1] = 2+1 = 3
Yosef Travathas: High Elf Fighter4/Magic-User3 (rredmond's Pacesetter Games "Legacy of the Unknown" OSRIC Playtest)

Crap! Sergius curses as he sees the hideous thing approaching This keeps getting better and better...

If he's got time he will throw one of his (regular) spears at the monster

PbP Forum code: Spear, thrown - To hit: [1d20+2] = 15+2 = 17, Damage (s/m): [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7, Damage (L): [1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2

If the creature is already in melee range before Sergius can throw the spear he will instead try to attack it with the obsidian spear

PbP Forum code: Spear - To hit: [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13, Damage (s/m): [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3, Damage (L): [1d8+1] = 4+1 = 5

Serg throws his spear striking the creature, this is quickly followed upo with a dagger form tub.
This is followed up by scy and osric striking the creature.

Staggard by the assualt but still standing the creatures whips its giant centipede body at scy striking him
1d20=9

damage = 1d3=1

the thing then swings it's sword at osric striking him, osric falls to the ground his hammer falling form his grasp.

1d20=9

damage = 2d4+2=8
