Ellith
Ellith observes the dead goblins for markings or anything else which might serve as a clue, while Faron sniffes at the corpses.
"Next time we should allow some time for parley" - he suggests, turning to the others - "Even if it proves ineffective in avoiding combat, it might allow us to gather more information about the area"

Myrrh
"If circumstances allow. Who here speaks Goblin? I do not."

Lia
Lia moves through the group checking for injuries, "Cinders, I have a healing kit, I could use, if you think your injuries warrant it." After attending to her needs, Lia will examine her own wound, examining it and applying bandages.

Lia uses her healing kit on herself and is completely healed.
Cinders (npc)
"Maybe later, if it's something nastier," Cinders brags.
*****
Besides the deadly wounds just inflicted, Ellith only finds scars and bruises on the goblins.
Faron smells nothing but goblin in this room. They stink.

Ellith
"Nothing" - the elf nods at the others - "We press onward?"

The only exit is a door on the south wall in the southeast corner.

Brondulm
Moves to the door and listens intently for any noises on the other side:
He then checks for any traps:
Brondulm is feeling like he is not very good at his job.

Brondulm hears nothing and finds nothing unusual around the door.
The door is unlocked....
Moving this along....
Brondulm opens the door into a small 10' by 10' entryway into a larger room.
The new room is 20' north-south from the entry area. The room extends 30' to the west.
The room is littered with bits of cloth and leather. There are 2 doors in the southwest corner - 1 on the south wall and 1 on the west wall. The western door seems to have some writing on it.
What is each character doing?

Brondulm
Before anyone passes the threshold do we have a pole to probe the floors or check for any trip wires ahead of us? I don't carry such a useful item but I will use it if someone has one.

It just so happens that Vali has a 10' pole in his pocket! Lol
Actually, no one is carrying such an item.

Myrrh
"I don't carry anything like that. We best just search the room. I will check out the writing on the door first."
Myrrh will move over and see if he can read the writing on the door.

Ellith
(We are the worst old school gamers ever - no 10' pole?!
)
Ellith stands watch with Faron, as Myrrh checks the door.

Lia
Lia wonders what on earth he needs a 10 foot pole for. Her adventuring experiences were quite limited so perhaps it had some use beyond her knowledge. She stands on guard while Brondulm does his work.

Awaiting Brondulm's action....

Brondulm
Follows Myrrh into the room cautiously looking to the left and right of the small 10 x 10 entry way as they enter into the larger room. If there are no surprise or traps, he will move to the door without writing and listen for noises.

Myrrh moves to examine the writing on the door, and Brondulm kneels next to him listening at the door at the other side of the corner. Brondulm hears nothing.
Lia stands just inside the room next to Ellith and Faron. Faron sniffs the air anxiously.
Brinna and Cinders stand ready in the center of the room, with Vali next to them, on guard with his bow.
Suddenly, a large spider drops from the ceiling onto...

Lia
Lia is startled for but a moment at the sudden appearance of the large arachnid, but then brings her hammer to bear smashing down at the spider.

Lia's hammer crunches against the nasty arachnid's hindquarters, but it still lives!

Myrrh
Myrrh moves into action, attacking the spider with his sword, attempting to sweep it off Vali.

Don't the Macros add in the bonuses when you put them in brackets?
Myrrh quickly rushes to Vali's aid, stabbing the creature and causing it to shrivel into a dead black ball.
COMBAT ENDED
Everyone looks up, trying to see any more surprises on the ceiling. None appear present.
Myrrh noted the writing on the door looked like an antiquated form of Common (perhaps Ancient Thyatian).
(Anyone trying to read it must make a successful d20 Intelligence Check.)
