Maxon
Yeah, we're getting scattered like chickens. One room at a time. He waits at the door he just helped open, watching the room Kain and Ceana have entered. His intent is to be ready to help them, but not leave this room unattended- in case sometrhin bad comes out.

Questions And Comets
Hearing the strange grinding noises, Ghost Bear rejoins Maxon and Cormag at the door they just busted open. The three of them wait there while the others search the open tomb across the sand choked hallway, unwilling to get too spread out in this place.
Ceana and Kain move into the room, heading towards the lone sarcophagus together. Tuurma decides to join them in their search but Ceana suddenly stops dead in her tracks once she can see the carvings on the walls more clearly. The image of the ruined building in the desert she saw in her visions is obviously displayed on one wall, causing her to stop and stare at it in confusion. If this was
really her vision, then where are they now?

The strange partially dissolved carvings covering the walls in here shew several battle scenes from the career of a blood thirsty Ixian conqueror, along with other outrageous feats of heroism.
The sarcophagus stands empty atop a low corner dais and behind that sits a 3 foot tall block of badly weathered stone containing a small statue of a cobra posed to strike.

Kainaxarthos
He slows at the carvings, glancing at them as he passes. Upon seeing the cobra, he stops.
"Is that alive? I can't quite tell. It's quite well done."
"What's the problem, Ceana? You look confused."

Having rejoined the group he tries to listen hard to the noises in the area, and continues to watch the hallways, bow ready.

Tuurma is suddenly not her grumpy self but seems genuinely concerned.
"Yes, what's the matter Ceana? These carvings, do they tell you anything? You look as you KAIN WATCH OUT!"
Test of DEX (3 in 6): [1d6]=1
Tuurma's feral instincts somehow kicks in and she throws herself to try to move Kain out of harm's way and/or trip/topple him depending on the type of danger we're about to see.

Just an FYI.....reacting to requested rolls IC isn't something I generally encourage or allow in my games. Characters shouldn't be able to hear the DM.
The Blues And The Grey
Still hearing the occasional scrape of stone on stone, Taibhse prepares to defend the area where he, Maxon, and Cormag stand in silence.
In the tomb across the sandy hallway, total chaos erupts. While Ceana stares at the image of her recent vision, the familiarity of it likely saves the young Kelts life.
Kain notes the carvings on the walls are partially dissolved a moment too late, when a portion of the grey stone ceiling suddenly drips down upon him, enveloping the charismatic cleric in a mass of acidic grey goo. Though Tuurma is the closest to him, she is able to avoid the surprise attack from above, but just barely.
Kain calls out in pain as the acidic goo burns his skin, running down his head and shoulders
4 dam, flowing under his armor and over the rest of his gear.
Tuurma's first instinct is to separate the horrible creature from her companion, but throwing herself into him will certainly result in her becoming covered by the grey mass as well.

Kainaxarthos
"IT BURNS!" Kain drops to the ground and rolls around, trying to get the thing off him. He starts removing his gear and grabs handfuls of sand to wipe over his head.

Maxon
Maxon mutters Rutting hell and moves to the door where he can see what's happening with Kain. When he can, he'll throw his waterskin to Tuurma.

Hearing the howls of pain coming from the tomb across the hall Taibhse readies his bow and rushes to the door to assess the situation.

Cormag moves cautiously with the others, regularly checking the other doorway, as well as the pathway between the buildings. With everyone focused on whatever is going on inside, he's trying to mainly focus on the outside.

Ceana
Kain's screams break the druid out of her dazed state.
Not sure what to do, she remembers how she and her friends used to sprinkle salt on snails and slugs when they were children, in some sort of sadistic torture...as curious children will sometimes do. She unslings her pack and dips her hand in her bag of salt and dashes it all over the grey substance hurting her companion. Will it work? Does it peel away?

Tuurma seems genuinely confused and panicked, faced with something she can't hack to pieces with her sword. She pops out of her sudden stupor as a waterskin comes flying towards her, and catches it. Water, could that be it? She opens it, fumbling somewhat doing so due to the screaming and stress, and pours it on the grey slime covering Kain, picking the opposing side of Ceana.

Salty Ooze
Half covered in grey ooze, Kain wisely starts doffing any tainted gear or armor while it too dissolves along with his flesh. As he screams in pain from the acidic burns, he tries to find sand to wipe away the painful substance.
Maxon and Taibhse rush to the doorway where Max tosses a water skin inside the tomb. Ceana snaps out of her funk to grab a handful of salt from her pack to toss onto this strange entity. Though no reaction is immediately evident, a confused Tuurma follows that up by splashing water over the unsalted portions of the creature, which again, shows no immediate reaction.
Further enveloping the flailing gooey cleric, Kain is able to scrape some of the monster away before eventually succumbing to another attack by the unyielding wet and salty slime, dropping him to the ground, now silent and unconscious.
8 dam
Cormag knows the noise from the screams might attract others, so he stays alert outside the tomb. Watching both ways for trouble, he sees the stuck door they passed earlier starting to open, quickly realizing what must have been making the still evident nearby sliding stone noises.

Unless I’m missing something in the science here, I don’t think salt or water would do much to stop this monster. I am no oozeoligist however, so feel free to interpret anything I’ve missed.

You're guess is as good as mine
Ceana steps back, doused by Tuurma, trying to avoid the slime. She watches helplessly as Kain stops screaming...her eyes wide as she looks around for something to help him.
"We need healing over here!" she hisses to Maxon and anyone else near the doorway.

Tuurma
"Nothing works, we have to burn it away, cleanse it!
She grabs her torch and start burning the ooze as soon as a healer presents his-/herself.
"I'm sorry about that beautiful skin Kain."
If it works, she'll grab another torch and work with two at the same time.

I think in later editions, these things and cubes are mentioned to exist in rivers, lakes, and oceans. So the basic science of osmosis and water flow through membranes doesn't seem to apply. Blame magic, and possibly the non-scientific background of the designers. Though cubes in underground lakes are pretty cool. I would love to hate a flooded room trap that also has a Gelatinous Cube in it.

Cormag shouts to the others That blocked door is unblocking itself!! Something's coming! as he draws his bow fully back to hopefully get a shot as soon as something shot worthy presents itself.
Not to get too meta, if it's like the AD&D grey ooze, you can flat-out attack it, at the risk of your weapons disintegrating. I guess that membrane way be impervious to water, but not to righteous wrath. I don't know how your get the goop of of someone's skin if it starts to eat away at it. Purposely haven't read the monster section of Hyper yet, so I can be surprised by all the differences.

I have no record of anyone currently having a lit torch at the ready. Unless I missed something?
I did a search and that came up with nothing as well.
