I am not sure of actions for everyone.

I have Idril stepping back to make room for Algrim to pry the stone loose.

Is Algrim prying the stone loose?

Is Arngeir going to try Psychometry on the stone first or wait and see what happens?

Is this footer color better?

Algrim nods supposing that is a true statement and moves over to investigate the rock indicated. First merely investigating it using what skills he knows/has then maybe he will pry it loose.

Algrim looks the stone over carefully. he determines that is just looks like all the other stones, maybe a little more room around the side and definitely more around the top. He slides his fingers in and with a little wiggling is able to pull the stone out. The stone is about 12" x 9" x 6" deep, and is fairly heavy.

Algrim drops the stone onto the soft earth and looks inside, seeing a space behind where the stone was, about the same size. It contains a deteriorated piece of cloth, bunched up. Possible wrapped around something. A dagger in a leather sheath, evidence of dry rot on the leather shows signs of age. Two leather pouches, also showing signs of dry rot and also full of something.

Algrim shows the other two his findings and hands them over if either of them wish to look the items over. The dwarf opens the leather pouches to see what is inside each.

Idril's eyes gleam with excitement. "This is sindarin craft." Her fingers twitch, like she is actively resisting an urge to snatch the bundles up immediately.

This seems like a perfect time for some psychometry!

Arngeir

If nobody objects he examines the dagger.

He gestures to the remaining bundle "Idril, you look?"

Idril looks over the cloth bundle, which appears to have been a nice silk square at some point, but is obviously very old and moth eaten. Inside she can see the hint of metal. Opening it she finds an amber pendant on a tarnished silver chain, which she is confident is Sindarin work. She also finds a key.

Algrim examines the pouches and finds one contains 200 silver pennies (the standard coins on Harn denoted as d), he hasn't seen this minting before, but they are from the Kingdom of Kaldor and most likely minted some time ago. The second pouch contains 1 gold crown (a large 1 ounce coin), from is own Kingdom of Azadmere, minted some time ago. And 9 uncut amber gemstones, all wrapped in a small glove leather square, the leather is in decent shape.

Arngeir examines the dagger. He is confident it is not Ivinian make and in fair condition, but obvious quite old. It was probably of high quality in its day. He would say it was a dagger meant for real use not show. Still usable today.

Note that a Gold Crown is work about 320d, so you have 520d in coins and you are not sure how much the uncut stones are worth at this point but certainly a couple hundred d. For comparison A Master Locksmith would make about 60d a month, a Khuzdul double that at least. A Cook makes about 30d a month.

Arngeir grins at the finds

He points to the necklace and dagger and looks at Idril

"Which magic? You know?

Idril knows the magic she sensed was Sindarin, so based on that I think it is safe to assume the amber/silver necklace is the magic item.

I edited some more info on the coins in OOC while you posted shaidar, so you may want to re-read my post.

Idril indicates the pendant. "This, I should think. It is of my people." She chews her lip in thought. "I would know more about it."

Does she have any abilities at her disposal to learn more about the nature of the magic?

I will allow a Folklore Skill check for each of you. It is one of the more common magic items and it will eventually become clearer why.

Arngeir looks closer at the pendant for a few seconds and scowls and straightens
"Can see if it speaks me. You want? Will take short while. My skill ... young, may not work."
Rex, Arngeir is looking to try and determine magical properties. I'm assuming I'll get up to three properties, and can ask a question instead if there are less than three properties. Will you be rolling in secret in case there is a CF?

I also plan to try my power on the key at some point.

For Arngeir
MF for Folklore, you don't know anything about it.

You do get questions if it has less than 3 powers, for a total of 3 pieces of information.

Psychometry (32) [1d100]=2

MS, If you hold the necklace out suspend the Amber Pendant it will point North.

You get 2 questions now.

Arngeir

After a few minutes, the Ivinian looks up from his concentration. Although he looks tired he is smiling.

He extends his hand towards Idril, the pendant hanging from the chain.

"Finds north." he says simply. "Hid 95 years ago, Baild of Elendsa last owner. Tomorrow, try key, find it's lock. Three answers I can seek. "

IF this roll is no longer needed for identification, could it be used to see if I know anything about Baild of Elendsa?

For Idril
Still for info on the necklace.
It is what the Sindarin call a Guide Stone. They point north and are common among Sindarin and likely Khuzdul as well.

You have no clue about the name.
Reminder for everyone, you are in the ruined Laranian Abbey of Orthasa.
