She judges the faces of everyone who's been questioning Amun and finally speaks. "Eh. Good enough. Let's look through the stuff you dumped out just to make sure, then keep going."

"One thing I'd like to know about the village. How many natives are still left, and did they seem to be helping her freely? Or did they seem a bit too positive about her? Wait. You said 'moves through the fire'. Is there a firewall blocking the cave? Or is she just appearing in a burst of fire?"

"We really need to get Powstap to help us. The crowd control would be invaluable."

Amun looks up briefly while rummaging through her things.

Allissa

"One thing I'd like to know about the village. How many natives are still left, and did they seem to be helping her freely? Or did they seem a bit too positive about her? Wait. You said 'moves through the fire'. Is there a firewall blocking the cave? Or is she just appearing in a burst of fire?"

"No, she appeared in a fire in the cave, when she was gone, the fire was gone. Like a demon."

Chauncey, clutching his hat in his hand, will step forward and incant a magical phrase, at the conclusion of which his eyes shift to become voids, like portals into Eldritch and unknowable space. He scans the contents of the upended pack, looking for telltale signs of enchantment.

Feanol's words obviously strikes a chord.

"No she cannot possibly have planned this. Luther and I were lucky, we moved at the same time. Momma was gone in the flames, I threw gravel in the bastard boy's eyes and Luther bested him, pushed him to the cave floor. The boy was furious! The guards impaled me. No, it's not possible, it cannot be."

She removes her backpack and empties it on the ground before her.

"They let me keep my things? No. No, the boy was in a hurry and he simply forgot about it. I saw how he removed the weapons from Luther! It must have been an oversight."

Amun is ready to follow the party wherever they decide to go. She will point directions as well as she can.

"Amun I sure hope that is the case. I don't see you working with them, but they've deceived others who weren't as distracted as you were while escaping. Just thinking we should make sure as a caution. I'm so glad you got away as she sounds like a terrible foe to have to face."

Feanol will wait for Amun to complete her search, then she'll offer to help her pick up the gear she dumped on the ground.

Saving Luther’s Privates

Early Morning, Humid, Warm, Misty

Amun seems filled with invaluable information to offer the others, though some still seem hesitant to accept it without scrutiny. The islands greatest wizard finds nothing amiss with her belongings after another bout of his creepy Eldritch eyes.

Despite a bit of friction among the party, the conversation about a solution remains focused. Amun confers that there are still many natives who are loyal to Mommapamma, and she shows the spear wounds to prove it. She estimates at least 50 natives still live and work in the camp. It seems the idea to recruit the native holy man Powstap is more important than ever.

"Well, that's it. I'll come forward as scout and spokesperson..." Says the dwarf with some unusual purposefulness. "If someone wants to join me, maybe Elandriel with her headband, Daisy or someone else. I want to see my friend Powstap!... And also have a peek at what's going on in there."

Elnaerel

"Hm... That's Elnaerel, Grimm. And, yes, I will gladly come with you."

Yrias remains silent with crossed arms.

"No stones here – nor anything else of arcane interest," says Chauncey standing up from his examination of the contents of the bag. He turns in a circle to take in his immediate surroundings with his otherworldly sight, noting anything unusual that reads as enchanted.

When Maag sees Elnaerel step up, he turns back to Alissa. "Yer know, der are some pretty nasty undead fings under dat temple. If we are gonna go back der, we might wanna ask dis Elandriel one to come along. She's a pretty powerful god-botherer. I 'ave 'eard rumors dat 'er god actually shows up to protect 'er".

[Monsieur Rose]

Allissa

Whispering back to Maag: "Really? How very interesting. Which god was this? Not all gods play nice, you know. But I see your point, we'll have to make sure no harm comes to her."

"Which is generally good advice, I've found. But now it seems that I need to step up again. Keep watching my back and I'll watch yours."

Allissa moves to the front and speaks up. "Good to have you both, Master Grimm and Elnaerel. I heard Powstap and you had some adventures, I'm glad you changed your mind about going along. I'll scout ahead again, and then you two should take the lead when we get there. I suggest Grimm tries to engage Powstap, while Elnaerel listens to the natives and confirms the translation, and gets the general mood of the group. I'll stick close by, for support."

She blows a kiss at Chauncey as he scans the area.

Ah'll stay back this time. Amun, let me look at that wound, darlin'.

Daisy examines Amun's spear wounds, and will cast a CLW if it's serious.

Actually Daisy cast CLW already and healed Amun back from 15 to 19/20 hp.

Amun walks in circles in a restless manner while the others scout ahead.

"The demon seems too powerful. Maybe her son is her weak spot. He seems powerful as well, but stupid. If we can trap him, we can use him against Momma."

The Knife

The Knife takes a look at the magical sword gifted to him by the dragon. "Hmmm...Not bad...decent gnomish work. Certainly looks like it'll get the job done when the time comes."

He pauses. "What? What do mean, why don't I want to use you anymore? Because you complain all the time when you get blood on you, that's why! And you keep telling me that being swung around brings your migraines on. Honestly...wait a second...are you jealous of this new one? You are, aren't you?"

"Look, there's nothing to worry about. This one is just a sword. For hitting things. And I've got to give it back later anyway. Stop complaining and go back to sleep."

Powerstrap
Godsday, 2nd of Harvester
Late Morning, Humid, Warm, Misty

Moving along the trail, the party is intent on recruiting the aid of their friendly connection to the native peoples. The next village along the way is much the same, inhospitable, but not hostile in any way. Chauncey bravely decides to go along with the scouting crew, making himself invisible and slinking off ahead

It is late in the morning by the time they arrive at the final village along the trail, before their last stop at the waterfall camp ahead. When asked at the gate for Powstap, the group is allowed inside where the native holy man greets them near a smoldering pile of green fronds.

The group is offered drinks of a creamy coconut water mixed with a crudely distilled clear liquid that smells of alcohol. Some roasted breadfruit is broken open and passed around for anyone who wants to partake in the filling natural snack.

Powstap seems genuinely happy to see some of his acquaintances again, telling the party a lot of things they have already assumed. This Momma person the natives now seem to worship has several of their people under her influence. Around 70 natives still live and work at the camp, and all of them are more than willing to give their lives to protect their leader.

“You possess magic to hurt Momma? The few warriors that didn’t fall under her powers could not cut her.”

Liam is overjoyed to see his friend is still well and happily partakes in the breadfruit and drinks. Powstap, my friend! It is good to see you! I have been worried about you. I am not sure what we might have that will work beyond praying for the gods to bless our efforts, but we are ready to do our best to do what is right.

Keg grumbles. Or more likely the next best thing...

Liam shoots the big man an irritated glance, And what does that mean?

Keg shrugs. We'll see after we make a big elaborate plan and it falls apart. That's how these things work, and if you were half as smart as you pretend to be, you would know that.

Liam seems ready to retort but... pauses... and waves Keg off mumbling something about him being right. Powstap, My Friend. What can you tell us of what has happened here? What have you witnessed from Momma? Has there been anything to indicate she can be harmed or dealt with? What is it she is doing?

Keg interjected again. And why would you care what she was doing?

Liam sighed worked to keep himself calm. Because, everyone... everything has a purpose... something they want. If we know what something wants, we can talk to them. Maybe find a way to satisfy them that is not... disagreeable. Maybe if we can give her what she wants, she will go away and leave these people... and us, alone.

Keg Hmph... And what do you suppose that is?

Liam That is what I am trying to find out, now hush. He turns apologetically to Powstap.

Daisy
Daisy shoots a full-power Mom Look at Liam and Keg, trying to hush them. Our first priority is to find out as much as we can about her, so we can find any weakness she has.

Wake

Wake will eat the offered food and drink, but otherwise wait.

Allissa

She makes her presence known but stays invisible. "Hello again, friend of Keilif. We do intend to deal with her, and could use any help you could give."

"For instance, how many warriors are there who aren't under her powers? Could we gather them and join forces?"

Amun gladly accepts the food and beverages offered, seemingly almost starving. She follows the conversation with great interest.

"I still think our best chance is to take the boy and keep him hostage. It will be easier than confronting the demon directly."

Oh, Amun- bless your heart. Haven't ya'll ever seen a momma pig when her piglets are threatened? Or a housecat take on a lynx iffen her kittens are in danger?
Ah'm dead certain that if we could take the boy hostage, she'd shred us like new cornstaks in a hailstorm.

[Karaunios]

Grimm is happy to re-encounter his friend. He evens hugs him. "Good to see you my friend." The dwarf smiles under his bushy beard.

When they are done with the greetings and the small talk he will ask pretty much the same questions as his companions. "Yes, Powstap. We want to fight Momma. What can you tell us about her? Will your warriors help?

If it's easier, talk in your language. Our companion Elnaerel can understand you." He points at the elven cleric.

Elnaerel introduces herself to the holy man and nods at Grimm's last assertion.

Yrias remains expectant.
