Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
Re: Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
The Knife
"Strange cave. Magic just laying around all over the place." The Knife takes a couple of paces back into the tunnel. "You can all die in here if you want to."

Re: Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
Keg lights another torch and holds it up high looking up and around the room. How is it this island gets weirder and weirder every time we kick over another rock? Anyone see anything up in the ceiling or anything? I got one of those feelings like something is waiting somewhere we're not expecting to reach out and chew our arses....
I have a hunch... and I hope I am wrong. Are the husk on only the perimeter of the room?

Amun spits on the floor.
"No good, evil magic here. Amun say we leave."
She follows TK if he decides to exit through the passage. If not, she will stay very close to the exit.

Re: Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
Black Cave Hole
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Overcast, Warm, Buggy
Finding this all too much to take, TK moves back into the tunnel again, ready to leave the others to their fate. Amun is in agreement with her gnomish friend, disliking the idea of all the evil magic in the chamber. They attempt to make their way back out of this place while the others move in.
Wake moves to the back of the chamber where he spotted the light aura of magic next to the large stone slab. He doesn't spot any signs of drag marks in the dirt anywhere near the slab and the magical glow seems to be enveloped within the remains of one of the bigger husks he sees, possibly a body at one time.
Keg lights a torch from Luther's pole/torch before the ranger extends the light as far up into the ceiling as he can reach, seeing what might be the cause of the dried husks scattered around the floor. The many eyes of a giant spider pop open as the light gets close, causing it to drop from its unwebbed ceiling perch, plopping its massive bulbous body between the party members inside the room and their only apparent exit. The beast attempts to grab Luther with its massively long legs, missing the startled ranger by mere inches.
Actions?
Amun can attack if she likes, piercing weapons will obviously work better in the tight confines. TK will need to get creative due to the lack of space in the tunnel.
positions: Keg (F3) AC:1 23/23 (Torch)

Luther actually sounds happy. That's more like it! He drops his torch and attacks the giant spider.

TK was standing right underneath it the whole time!
The Knife
"Run! Get out!" The Knife shouts to Amun, as he does exactly that. "It will spray webs on you! You'll be trapped!"

Re: Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
just so I get this right, Amun's 2H sword thrust would count as piercing?
Re: Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
Amun
"No, gnome, come back, they fight and die as family!"
Without checking TK's reaction, she turns around and seeing the beast has its attention focused on Luther, drives her sword deep into its belly, dark liquid squirting in all directions from the wound.
2H sword, to hit: [1d20+1]=19+1=20, damage: [1d10+3]=6+3=9 (SM), [3d6+3]=9+3=12 (L)
NrrrraaAAAAAARRR!! - her battle cry echoes in the domed chamber.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE A SPIDER?!
Fear.... can be a good motivator. The norseman charges and takes a hack at the beast with his sword even as he screams... in a manly? way... from horror.

Black Cave Hole
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Overcast, Warm, Buggy
Dropping their torches and drawing weapons, the three trapped explorers charge at the monster spider, ready to fight for their lives in this dark chamber. A screaming Keg and a happy Luther both injure the beast, with Wake's blow missing the mark slightly. As a gush of horrible ichor spills from the wounds, the huge beast rears up and bites down hard into Luther's shoulder, sinking its massive fangs into the ranger and immediately injecting his new wound with a strong poison. 6 dam (Luther must make a save in order to act again)
Still crammed in the tight tunnel, Amun is certain that the monster attacking her new friends is far too large to fit through the passage opening she is fighting from. She thrusts her huge sword into the backside of the hairy behemoth, sinking it deep into spider flesh and hearing a loud hissing scream from the other end. With a mysterious seventh sense warning him exactly when to run from danger, TK continues to cower and scream about webs, though none of them have seen even a single strand of webbing in this area yet.
Bleeding from three nasty wounds, and with nowhere else to go, the spider continues its dangerous attack on the group.

Wake seeing the bite the Luther takes, is frightened but driven to continue and takes another missing swing at the spider. Need to find another die.

The Knife
"Well I can't do anything unless you get out of the way!" The Knife calls to Amun, almost sounding a bit petulant. Then he adds hastily, "Whatever you do, don't get out of the way!"
The Knife takes a step back and starts talking to himself (or someone else) about whether it would actually be better if Amun did step out of the way and allow him to join the fight.

Still calling out somewhere between a defiant battle cry and a scream of terror, the big man sees Luthar take a bit and it seems to give him another shot of adrenaline as he swings his sword even harder!

Hearing the screams of her comrades in arms and seeing the black liquid gush from additional wounds, Amun intensifies her efforts and thrusts again. Now in battle frenzy, oblivious of TK's talk.

Re: Quest #38 "Betwixt Water And Stone"
Spider Cave
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Overcast, Warm, Buggy
The hideous spider seems to almost laugh as it withdraws its massive fangs from the bleeding body of Luther, certain it has just debilitated its next meal. It chomps down at Keg next, but the Northman is able to sidestep the ferocious attack.
While Wake continues having vision problems, Amun shoves her huge blade into the behemoth blocking the tunnel again, this time getting showered with green juice and other stinking guts in the process. She ignores the babbling of the indecisive couple behind her.
As Luther drops to his knees, Keg sees and can actually smell the pungent poison and blood pouring from his horrible wound. Certain he has just lost his fellow warrior, the fighter becomes so enraged that he lops the entire eye cluster from the front of the beast in one fell sword stroke, causing a gush of gore to spill out onto the floor as the bulbous bloated body plops down hard right where it stood, entirely blocking the tunnel out.
Luther looks at Keg and Wake once the monster is felled, his eyes rolling slowly as he instinctively covers his wound with his hand. Then, to their amazement, the ranger stands up, spits on the ground, and cleans the gore from his sword as if nothing happened.

"Luther someday you are going to have to explain how the poison did not affect you! We need to made sure there are no other spiders in this cave, move the dead one enough to be able to get in and out and I my magic will only last a short time longer and I think there might be a body with magic where I was looking. First, with the torch on the stick can we see the top?"
