The Axe and Anvil Forge
Asked about tomorrow's festival, the dwarf responds to Svem.
"The festival is a Herne celebration. The high church look down upon it, seeing it as rather pagan or uneducated. The Futurus faiths with their holy books and ordinances. They spout a righteousness through works rather than sacrifice. Which is at odds to the old ways. So the main rites will take place outside the village at the Ring of Herne. But I am sure festivities in the village will be peaceable. We are entering a tag team in the mud wrestling and tug of war."

Mercenary Guild
Whistling a familiar tune about drinking as he enters, Sven approaches the man in charge to ask about available healers and guides.
"Hello good sir! I have just returned from a special mission with the squires, handed down by our lord and master Lord Krothos."
"I was wondering if you had any healer types here who would be interested in joining up with a new group intent on searching the moors."
"I would also like to learn a bit of information about your guides. Do any of them know a safe path out to the burial mounds everyone in town keeps talking about?"

The Old Mill
Evening of April 30th:
Vann Hector goes back the the old mill and reports to Vina & Hendon that the expedition was unsuccessful in locating the missing poachers.
" I am so sorry to report that despite our best efforts, any tracks eluded us. I fear that in the time Old Basil has been absent, all traces of his whereabouts have been lost. My able guide searched diligently along the Moorwash riverbanks and even into the delta and upper reaches. We were ourselves beset by frogling tribesmen and I fear they may also have surprised any camp your Uncle was using.
Unfortunately, Dawg Dann, a resident of the village as you know, died in the valiant search and rescue attempt. I have brought his body back at least. I am sorry once again for you apparent loss."
The elf tried to spin a positive note on the search but really it was a forlorn hope anyway so apart from Dawg Dann dying, he actually doesn't really feel to empathetic with the miller's wife.
He tries, teary eyed and consoling, but will not impede on their hospitality and will leave quite quickly.

The Old Mill
You arrive, late in the afternoon after dealing with the body of Dawg Dann.
Vina is working at her weaving loom and invites you in, once more Hendon is called from his grindstone. They receive your report, discouraging news that it is. There is little comfort to be said to the wife who comes to accept her Uncle may not be returning from his hunting trips. There are two other families if the men with him who must mourn likewise. You have no definitive proof of course but the likelihood that the trio of rangers still live does seem rather bleak.
Having paid your respects you make for the door.
"Thank you in return Vann Hector. You gave us a brief hope at least and were willing to search when many dismissed our vain hopes.
Please accept this token of our thanks. It was to be made for Basil, perhaps we may serve his memory by blessing you in return."
He takes a covered garment from a wardrobe. It is a folded and neatly creased red silk shirt, embroidered with gold threaded paisley style patterns. (Certainly one for the dance floor).
You can take your gift and leave them to their grieving.

After an introduction from Sven so that it's clear that he's not running a scam, Isvand will ask Karl Barrelgutthe cost of modifying the armor for one as slim and svelt as himself, as well as see if he has any interest in purchasing some still undamaged studded leather in partial trade. Assuming the net cost comes to 20GP or less, Isvand will pay up front, if it comes to more than that, he will put down a 15 GP deposit with the rest to be paid on delivery.

The Rosy Quartz Jewellery
Sven enters the jewelers with the pair of gold bracelets they found in Jerome’s tomb. He lays them on the counter for inspection with a slight grin.
“Hi there! Remember me?”
“How are we doing on those pearls? Oh and I thought you might want to take a look at these beauties. They seem pretty special.”

The Axe and Anvil Forge
The forge is busy. The hammering of metal upon metal heard well before you come to the stone building. Some apprentices are cast wrought iron from melting ingots, Smithing masters demonstrating the subtle arts of crafting skills. In another hearth, common implements are beaten sharp, new picks, spades and sledging heads.
Beyond the main village shop, a huddle of grim faced dwarves locked in conversation.
Isvand and Sven enter to be greeted by the nephew Gern, hammering at an anvils, sparks flying as he shapes a new blade.
Sven roll me a d6 please
He looks at the chainmail noting his own recent handiwork. "You will need to stand for a fitting. Sandy can measure you up. Once she's done I can take off the correct links, tailor in the hips and chest, short sleeve or long?
Not much call for the studded though. Most come in kitted out. Looks worn to, graze here, slash there. Tell you what. I will pass that to the gnomes to recondition and do the armour for 8gp seeing as most of the clinkage and cleaning has been done."

The Rosy Quartz Jewellery and Moneylenders.
"Horace! Got any more pearls about?" While the bespectacled assistant mutters and descends to the vault below the shop, the proprietor checks out the latest gold items you bring in. He weighs the bracelets and after a long and detailed inspection, opening the locket case and peering into the spring mechanism and minute cogs, he looks up.
"Interesting, heavy gold, many carats, not much wear or tear. Needs a little buffing up and some modifications in the interior. New oil, just a dab, won't charge for that. Comes as a pair, time functional, accurate to the egg timer over there.
Not as much as the opal but more than the torc. If I am honest, and I am of course, you will get better exported to the citadel but bandits on the road, such a needless risk. 400 gold the pair."

Isvand smiles happily Done and done!, Master Gern! Long-sleeved if you please! Pleased to meet you, Sandy, I think it was? This is quite the impressive smithy..... he chats as he gets measured for his new armor. He passes the studded leather over, along with the 8 gold.

Smithy roll: Random D6 [1d6]=6
Deciding to gamble, Sven looks at the bracelets again before scooping them back up from the counter.
“I thought you might say that. But this time I am prepared to take them to Ironguard to sell. I appreciate your honesty all the same.”
The mage waits to hear back about the pearls with a wry smile, wondering if there is any wiggle room in the lowball offer.

Re: Helix village.
The Axe and Anvil
pertaining to the random roll at the forge
Sparks fly as teardrop shaped melten liquids, spurting as from a cracked casing that bursts under heat pressure, popping like a balloon.
The white cloaked mage sprayed over, sploshed with the burning and cooling elements. Instead of his skin oozing and dripping, meat sloughing off the bones as the gnomes did under the acidic juices of the ooze, his garment just steams a little and the drips run off, pooling into solids at his feet.
"Interesting garb for a dentist, unless he is doing the root canals of a red dragon."
Without the need for a pearl, Sven can gather the cloak traits some resistance to fire.

Sven plays hardball, not willing to part with the Chronic timepiece and wrist bands for what he considers a below par offer.
Horace reports back. "Clam fishers shipment due in tomorrow. Never guarantee what they fish up mind. Odds and sods. We pay by the ounce and sort by purity. Maybe one in twenty will suffice for your professional use.
Becoming more rare now to get the quality. They have to go further downstream and that is dangerous territory when you are half naked underwater. Plenty of freshwater clams on the river beds, just need a proper crew to harvest them in security.
Check tomorrow, if I get the right ones, I'll put them to one side and send a note to the tavern.
Can't say fairer than that. If you be in the tavern and not in Ironguard hawking your wares for a king's ransom.
400gp and the best pearl."
The jeweller makes another offer. You can accept, decline or counter. (4d6 vs cha).

At the Axe and Anvil, Sven has another question for the artisan weapon smiths.
“I’m curious, do you guys have any hand held crossbows in stock? Or would you know anyone who might?”

The Axe and Anvil Forge
"Must be the new fashion accessory.
What's up with a proper crossbow? Hardwood Ash or Oak stocks, tailored foregrip, shaped buttstock to mould around your shoulder for maximum recoil cushioning, leather wrap and customized etchings. 150lbs pull strain and deadly to 200 yards.
Now folk want to strut their stuff around town with itchy trigger fingers, 'hipsters' sniping each other like that highway brigandine Renata.
You are the second one today asking. Don't elves like bows anymore? Broadswords are the Duchy specialism. I can start a new trend though. I am crafting one pair, don't suppose another pair will harm. 15gp each, deals damage as a light one would be half the range. Be ready in four days. You can get the tailors to cut a bandana to hide your face when you hold up a stagecoach."
Gern the apprentice weaponsmith takes your order.
