I do not see a write-up about St. Cuthbert in the Futurus section under Religion, Faith and the Gods.
Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
Short bows may be taken by halflings, gnomes and dwarves. They are too short in arm length to use a longbow effectively. On the house rules for Weapons of Proficiency (lumping weapon skills together), are there lumps for one-hand swords? Bows?
Shortbows may also be used mounted. Longbows used mounted suffer a penalty of -2 to hit due to their size being cumbersome to wield while riding.
They are treated as a single proficiency as are crossbows who also treat light/ heavy as one skill.
Swords are treated individually as the types require different skills to wield them. A rapier requires finesse, parry and lunge ripostes while a cutlass is just a hacking blow. So the types split into short, broad, long and two-handed types with brands like cutlass, sabre, bastard, gladius, claymore, scimitar falling into one of those categories.
Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
Yes that is true. I initially included him in the pantheon for a player who wanted to be a cleric of St Cuthbert but then he opted out.I do not see a write-up about St. Cuthbert in the Futurus section under Religion, Faith and the Gods.
It is very similar in form to St Ygg's but I will develope and add a splinter faith of St Cuthbert's with unique requirements and rituals to the deities topic.

Just so I know players can see their private forums, could you all post a comment in them please to acknowledge you have access.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Are we supposed to sign up in the festivities thread. Because it’s locked at the moment.
Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
Should we go ahead and do the rolls and story for the festival, or is there pre-work to be done? Steben will enjoy the activity; it lets him show off a little and that'll get him further along in his goals.

Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
I will keep the festival on hold until the three current expeditions either return to town or surpass the Mayday in the calendar. That way all the other players get chance to let off steam in the village and earn a bit of extra xp or gain a reward.
Presently the Spider silk, Rangers and Beehive teams are all acting on April 29th.

Actually, where can I find this private forum? Never used one before.
Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
It takes a forum admin to create one, and they've been swamped lately. Give it a few days, and you should see another forum at the top of the page, when you're in the Barrowmaze forum.
Addendum If you watch this thread, when the mods are done they will post a note.

By the way……welcome to the game folks!

Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
Regarding arcane spell casting, memorization and spell books. Let's see if I got this right. (For the sake of this discussion I disregard cantrips.)
1st level mage Alphabeti Corder is created. Alphabeti has an INT of 13 which means 6 as min # spells/level.
Being true to his character, Alphabeti after serious consideration picks the following spells: affect normal fires, burning hands, charm person, comprehend languages, dancing light and enlarge.
Alphabeti has plenty of time to prepare and meditate.
Now, when he leaves for his first adventure, these 6 spells will be the spells in his spellbook, and the exact same 6 spells will be the spells he has memorized. This means Alphabeti is, in worst case, guaranteed to get to cast 6 spells during his first day (provided he fails all his "retain in memory" rolls).
Did I get that right?

If I understand the house rules correctly, then yes. A very nice bonus for low level mages, too. I like it.

Everyone who has ever experienced the "right, that was my magic missile, now where are those 130 darts" angst will welcome this house rule.
Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
I can be mapper for any group I join. I currently map another adventure, so it's no sweat.

This was my lived experienced and motivation to trial the house rule."right, that was my magic missile, now where are those 130 darts" angst will welcome this house rule.

taking a wild guess here but those of us in certain situation that are not in Helix cannot participate in the festival stuff?

Your expedition is currently on early evening April 29th.I will wait for the three current expeditions to either return or to pass the date of May 1st then open the festival up
The festival will begin on May 1st for those in the village on that date.
