Alright fellers - looks like we have a nice group of players. At this point (2:00 pm EST), the following have checked in:

Distorted Humor > Dalmond Barmalk (Dwarf Fighter)
Brund the Decrepit > Thurgrum Hammerfel (Dwarf Cleric)
Mithrandir > Bard? Dwarf Animal Master?
Hoondatha > Wizard? Wild Mage?
rtdersch > ?
Computer +1 > ?

@Mithrandir > Bard is fine and you would begin play at 2nd level with full hp. Dwarf Animal Master is okay too - most are grooms within their community, so I ask you...what would prompt an Animal Master to go adventuring? And I prefer wolves (2 at most).

@Hoondatha > Digging for info on wild mage, but drawing a blank. A little help about the class? I think that is a 3.5E class, if so, let's stick with 2E instead.

@Computer +1 > you're in dude! Roll up that character!

Current time period is somewhere in the 1350's DR - haven't decided yet. There won't be any spellplague 4E shit going on.

Back in a few...

Wild Mage is in the original 2e Tome of Magic. It's a full-on wizard variant. The 3e PrC is a pale imitation.

Cool - let me check it out. Back in a few...

Edit: Having read through the description, I am not 100% on this character option. I can see where it could be a lot of fun or more trouble than it's worth. Actually, some of the possible random events are pretty cool - like what you might find in a wand of wonder. Still it is a pain in the ass for the DM and for the player to remember all of the variables, and it could be potentially deadly for other members in your group.

So, not gonna approve a wild mage in this game. Sorry.

So, Dwarven bards seem to be verboten since they cannot cast magic user spells, unless you wanted me to use some form of clerical spells instead (since dwarven priests are allowed) -- so that means, if I do a bard (which I am really leaning towards) I may need to be some other race, and I could make his backstory include that he heard about a dwarvish party adventuring and thought it would be great to tag along to gather material for his songs and stories. Which do you prefer? A hacked dwarven bard, or a non-dwarven bard? I can do either. I will search for some references or homebrew rules for dwarven bards, but I don't think it's likely that any exists.

The Animal Master was (may still be, if the bard falls through) going to have a backstory that explained why he was adventuring. It was likely going to be "my second/overworld homeplace is wrecked (because my first homeplace in the mountains was ransacked and occupied by some Duergar) , and I am the last of my clan" story.

A non-dwarven bard will work best. And not every character in this group is gonna be a dwarf. In fact, there are only two that I know of unless others show up. Play a bard, man! Sing to us!!

Well, I stand corrected: http://www.padnd.com/arkuth/class_dwarven_bard.php

I am not sure how broken this build is, but it's kind of intriguing. Let me know what you are comfortable with. I have zero problems making a half-elf bard or something.

Doh -- looks like we crossed each other on the wire. I will make a non-dwarven bard. Let me tune up this lute so I can do the entrancing noodling on par with Iron Maiden!

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.

That's okay. I'm a human. All I need to do is run faster than the dwarves. :)

Is that ok?

Alright folks, it looks like we have a fighter, cleric, and a spell caster of some flavour. I'm thinking a Dwarf\Gnome thief, thief\fighter perhaps with the Locksmith kit pending Hedgeknights approval.

If I don't go thief I'll probably go dwarven paladin\champion (same difference really).

Any thought from the group?

Heya Ray, if you would rather the Champion or Pally, I will definitely go the Rogue route if that is your preference. Just let me know, I have the stats for it and I love Rogues.

I am brainstorming and doing other things this evening, so I hope to have my character or concept posted tomorrow by noon eastern or something. Is that OK?
