Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
Re: Quest #34 "The Search"
The Knife
The Knife looks on, baffled, as the rest of the group seem to be intent on taking the jungle trail.
"The sand is SAFE!" he calls out to them. "The trail is DANGEROUS! This is a RESCUE MISSION! We need to keep going!"
If they get into a nasty fight here, they'll use magic and healing we might need later, he thinks to himself. Or worse, get beaten up and we'll have to go right back to Beachtown.

Darklin
Looks out at the sand and back to the shadows in the trees.
Damn it. He is right. Never thought I would say that but we could let the water gathers know and they could warn the town about this baboon or maybe we can get rid of it on the way back with the rest of the group. Only makes sense. OK let's back out of here and take the sand.
He keeps his bow ready and arrow knocked until they are back to the sand and moving on.

Continues on down the beach trotting after the Knife.

As two of his companions start down the sand trail, The Knife keeps a wary eye on the jungle, in case anything tries to spring a surprise.

Re: Quest #34 "The Search"
I guess I better step in here.....
The Search For The Seaside Tower
Waterday, 24th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Hot, Sunny, Buggy
TK calls for the others to snap out of their funk so they can continue along with their previously decided upon mission.
Darklin realizes that the little gnome is correct, so he follows him to the other side of the sandy disturbance, ready to resume the search for their friends. (if this action is undesirable to the three characters who haven't acted yet, feel free to correct me and do whatever it is that you want to do instead)
Spending the next few hours trudging along the sandy trail, they follow the water gatherers all the way to the river unharmed and with no further delays, seeing no sign of danger once they reach the source of fresh water.
They dont see any signs of their lost companions either.
Actions?
Darklin Sylvanas AC4 8/8 1/1 CL, DM, RM
Feanol AC10 4/4 1/1 CL, DM, RM
Max AC2 8/8 CL 2/2 MU 1/1 CL, DM, RM

Good call on the bypassing the baboon's back there Knife. That could have turned out bad and we need to find our friends. Hopefully no one will stumble into that trail until the Gathers can get back and warn everyone.
Feanol you making it Ok. Still feeling like he is doing the Body Guard duties.
Max
Walks along mumbling the words to some religious song he is reminiscing about. Cooler days and quiet nights back on the Mainland.

The Knife
The Knife smiles at Darklin's praise. "Thank you. I realized once the ladies made it through that the beast had probably already caught something. So no point in bothering those baboons. Although..."
"You mentioned that they had set up a tripwire. That doesn't sound like the work of a wild animal. That path could be worse than the beach trail now."
When they reach the river, he points up the trail."We haven't seen them on the beach. I suppose we must go up here now."

The Search For The Seaside Tower
Waterday, 24th of Goodmonth
Noonish, Hot, Sunny, Buggy
Already approaching midday by the time the heavily encumbered group reaches the river, they aid the water gatherers as best they can before sending them off again on their return journey to Beachtown.
After a long rest and a seaside lunch of dried rations, Feanol asks the others if they will construct a raft here to attempt to traverse the river against the current, or if they should walk up the jungle trail instead.

Well I am thinking that when we were at the Pirate Camp there were some rafts there. Maybe walk to the first camp and see if we can get the rafts there and repair them. If need be we can stay in the huts where Keg and I healed up after the Pirate Battle. If we don't meet them by night fall we will have a fire pit and places to sleep at least. Just my thought, we can do what ever the majority wants.
Finding the rest of the group is the priority.

Are their any fish in this river? We would have food for tonight as well instead of these tasteless rations. Fresh fish cooked over an open flame is wonderful.

"Great suggestion Max, I don't care about the hut, but getting someplace we can fish a bit would be a good thing".
Feanol
"I think that's a sensible plan. Let's get moving up stream then".

"Making for that camp sounds good," agrees The Knife. "Better than camping and being bug food all night." He follows along with the others.

Re: Quest #34 "The Search"
Sorry, gotta do a little fast forward here.....
The Search For The Seaside Tower
Waterday, 24th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Hot, Sunny, Buggy
After a quick decision, the group is soon slogging up the trail along the river to the first village. Though the bugs flying around on the trail are much worse than they were on the beach, they are happy to be out of the direct sunlight to ease their burden slightly.
They make it to the first camp where Darklin had a run-in with the pirates a while back, seeing nothing dangerous initially, but hearing a strange crying noise coming from somewhere in the jungle.
After a quick visual search of the place, only to find that nobody is home, they walk towards the river and the opposite end of the clearing to look for the rafts Darklin mentioned might still be here.
Though their search has just begun, they suddenly hear a familiar voice ring out over the normal noise of the jungle. Who comes here? Then they spot Keg, who walks out from behind one of the huts to find the group looking around the clearing.

Keyon
The rogue keeps a wary eye on the jungle, but glances up to see his former companions approaching. He flashes a grin and waves before returning his attention to the dense wall of green. He points toward the odd sound and shrugs.

Let's out a heavy sigh.
Keg, it's us.
He waves. Not seeing everyone he questions.
Did everyone make it out of the Ant Farm? And what is that sound? Could it be that Wild Cat we saw on the way down river? It was a Big Black Panther. We were on a raft and jumped to the opposite side of the river when the raft started to sink. Cat was stuck on the other side. Must have found his way over here.

Keg
Walks into view and scowls at the party. Darklin! Where have you been? Yeah, we made it out of the ant farm all right! After they about chewed our ankles off! Then we were nearly put on spits by natives up river only to have some kind of a glue zombie da-- near suffocate me! Lucky me the natives decided we were friends and helped up out, but Elnaerel lost her Morningstar in the process. *Hrmp!* We made nice with the natives and just got here when we heard a baby or something crying in the trees over there. he points with his thumb... then scowls a bit more. You all look fat and rested... what happened to you? Aren't you coming from the wrong direction? I'd have thought you would be coming from the north... Hell, we thought you were eaten by the ants too!
After a moment his scowl lessens. Good to see you.

The Knife beams when he finally sees who they have met up with. "Keg! Keyon! Elnaerel! You all made it! I knew you would!"
"Yes I did. YES I DID! YES. I. DID... What do you mean 'pay up'? It was never a real bet... Anyway, stop it. You're embarrassing us...me...you". His voice tails off. Then he turns to Keg and the others.
"So...how have you been?"

"It's good to see the three of you. We were terribly worried. We waited as long as we could after the ants, but felt we had to get moving or we'd have never made it through the night without you guys. Luckily we found a raft that fast tracked us back to the village. Didn't you find my note? I left it where we took the trail into the jungle from the river trail."

Elnaerel
Elnaerel can't believe her eyes when she finally sees the group. She can't believe her ears either when she hears her friends mention that they went to town and came back.
"It's you! I'm so glad that you could make it." She gently pats TK on the shoulder, nods at Darklin with a smile and hugs Feanol with some strength for a second. "We were worried and didn't know what to do. You did the right thing, you know? We haven't found that note though."
She steps back after the greetings. "And yes, Keg, did a good summary of our adventures. I lost my morningstar, which is a big loss for me, as it's almost the only weapon I know how to use properly... Keg was kind enough to fashion a club for me and that's what I've got." She points at her improvised weapon. "But he got the worst part and almost got eaten by that sticky mummy. The natives helped us in the fight and Keyon was very brave too. He didn't only make out-of-place remarks, you know?" She finally adds with a short low laugh.
She suddenly remembers where they are. "By the way, you said a black panther?" She starts looking around.

Feanol
"Elnaerel, It's so good to see you. Meet my younger cousin Gnodric. Take it if you can use it better than the club. He means well and he does have his sword. We were planning to overnight here, is that in your plans or do you want to push back to town?"
