Roy gears up and follows Joker's lead taking readings with his phone and checking things through the goggles (if he managed to get any.)

Warming up and cloudy - Getting a little windy

Roy warns the team about how the phones have been drained when they head into the house, the door slamming apparently on its own, as well as his encounter with an orange cat that had no pupils.

Jason takes out his laptop from the Ecto.  He begins doing some in the field research to try to find history on the house and location.  Here is where I am going to juggle a few things.  My first instinct was you don't have WiFi, but I do know you can hotspot off the phone because I have done the same thing.  So I am going to let you have that.  Second, I feel like in this case since you are looking specifically for occult/spooky stuff, you can use your bonus, so I am going to let you also have that second roll without the ghost.

So that is me being nice, now not so much.  We'll say you can pull off a hot spot on your phone once a month in a tight situation going forward unless you install some kind of wireless internet off the ecto itself as they use in police-type vehicles.  As an added bonus to this, since a Laptop, in general, is a little more user friendly for this sort of thing, we will say after today that it will give you a +5 on your roll or eliminate your ghost die.  Sound good?

Jason finds that the house is very old.  In fact, it is one of the original houses in the town, built around the 1890s but the records are a little unclear.  Original Victorian first owned by Mr. Samuel Blackwell-Adams and his wife Mary Blackwell.

Upon their death, it was passed to their daughter Mary Duncan in name only since she was at the time missing.  The house then got caught in a legal limbo until a next of kin could be found.  It then passed to her sister Narcissa Eglantine who held ownership of it until her own death in 1961.

At that time it passed to her daughter Narcissa Adams.

The house then passed to Phoebe Zenobia Adams and the last relative inherited it in 2002, one Gloria Mary Joniet who then sold the property to Robert Harris in the following month.

Harris owned the property until 2010 when it was purchased by Buck Hrumph, the current owner and client for this job.

Jason will note that the family seems to adhere to a Matriarchal line of heredity common among native American societies as well as old-world European ones.  You also have knowledge that of folk tales saying places where witches have congregated and lived, especially over long periods of time, will begin to show signs of residual energies left over from years of spellwork and ritual.

Joker puts on the old-style Ecto Goggles.  When they boot up, there is a soft rattling hum of 1980s tech coming to life.  The screen is a little fuzzy, especially compared to newer tech that you are more familiar with, but the manual knobs make it easy to adjust everything.  As you are able to work that out, you can see that there is a lot of energy in the house and the property, but it literally seems boxed in on the property line and appears almost like a bubble over the top of the house to keeps everything in.  Everything outside the barrier seems very neutral, actually showing a better than usual readout compared to other surrounding areas you would expect with all the residual energy in this town.  Inside the "bubble" is a much more concentrated variety of energies.  The barrier itself is very positive energy, whereas what is inside seems very much the same but "dirty" with negative readings indicative of paranormal activity more consistent with a haunting.

Lionel sends out a text to Jamie but so far seems like she isn't answering.  He and Mac can feel the tension building up as the team makes preparations for entering into the confirmed haunting and the wind begins to pick up and blow around a few fallen leaves and rustle in the old treetops.  One could easily find themselves lulled into letting their guard down or find themselves convinced they were hearing whispers on the breeze.

Awesome, I didnt even think about explaining it because im used to doing in irl. Glad it wasnt too much.

Well despite me pulling for them in this, looks like it might be witches. So keep your eyes open. he listens to Mac and Lionel discussing entry, Also be careful, witches use wards all the time. I am not intimate familiar with them, but needless to say keep an eye out for supernatural booby traps...hmm... I wonder if thats what y'all ran into? Jason shrugs on his pack, But the strangest part was I didnt see any connections to his honor. Phoebe Zenobia Adams, Gloria Mary Joniet, Robert Harris, and Buck Hrumph are the listed owners going back almost twenty years, no real estate holdings or anything else that looks like his sort of shady. He looks at Lionel, So I'm not thrilled about what other sorts of, he clears his throat connection he might have to the place.

Joker
Joker studies the house and grounds, top to bottom, 360 degree sweep.
Fascinating! It's almost as someone put a containment field around the property, intending to...err, contain whatever's inside.
With the battery issues, we shouldn't rely on any electronics while we survey. Take handwritten notes, and we'll use a film camera, not a digital one. Do we have a Polaroid?

Joker is silent for a few moments, then: You guys may not like this idea- it's counter to the intent of the GhostBusters. BUT: it would allow us to play marbles with the mayor. We do our recon, get a full analysis, see if we can reinforce the containment that is already here and add some monitoring equipment that will give us telemetry at the Firehouse.
Whatever we find, we speak with the mayor, and have him purchase the property- anonymously, of course. As long as the entites are contained here, the town is safe- and the Mayor can tell people whatever he chooses.

Warm and cloudy - Getting a little windy

Jason gets note on house ownerships. After seeing who owned the house in the past he feels pretty sure it is the Blackwell witches that are involved. He warns about witches using wards and speculates that is what Joker and Mac ran into. He finds no connection to mayor.

Joker is fascinated by the readings he is getting and what he is literally seeing with the Ecto Goggles.  He explains in brief that he sees a strong barrier of one kind of energy keeping the ambient energies inside, both the positive ones like the barrier itself and the swirls and whirls of negative ones within, though he can discern no direct "threat" from here.  He will note, that though this isn't working in the same uniform and engineered ways, this is not too unlike the kind of field you would see in the containment unit if you could see into the device itself.  This one looks almost natural if not for the distinctness of the property lines.

When Joker mentions that it might be a good idea to do more analog work with old fashioned photography like a polaroid, Roy answers Sorry Mate, No polaroid here.
Joker is silent for a few moments, then: You guys may not like this idea- it's counter to the intent of the GhostBusters. BUT: it would allow us to play marbles with the mayor. Lionel is ready to go, as is Mac.  Both are already eyeing the point of entry and making their way to the door, though they are certainly not outside conversation range when they approach the porch.

Adding yet another layer to the scene, is the small tug on Roy's sleeve.  When he turns he will see a young woman, she has to be in her late teens or early twenties.  She has a youthful slenderness of her shoulders and neck.  Her redish-blonde hair is worn back, a few strands are loose and framing her pretty but otherwise unremarkable face.  She wears a small brimmed hat and a light sweater that looks more practical than stylish against the morning coolness in the air but also light enough for the now warming temperatures of the impending afternoon.  She is neither particularly tall nor short, It is her eyes that really grab your attention.  They are somber and calm.  Deep green... no... wait... brown... no...  She has one of each.  Heterochromia is the term that trickles up from Mr. Bradly's biology class way back when he was going over genetics.  Once she has your attention, she speaks up in a whisper of a voice.  Hello, aren't you the ghostbusters?  Is there a problem here?  I was walking by and wanted to make sure it is safe.

Roy looks at the lass "Well hello...there miss. Ah well see it's hard to say exactly but something does appear to be up with this house and we were going to investigate further. Have you or anyone else in the neighborhood seen or heard anything strange from here before?"

Joker
Joker glances toward the new voice- forgetting to remove the Ecto goggles. He scowls, flips them up to his forehead, and smiles at the young lady. He waits to hear her responses to Roy.

She looks to Roy with those oddly mismatched eyes and shakes her head. No, I was just walking through. I like walking this neighborhood. There is a lot of old history here and the houses are beautiful. The ones that are taken care of anyway. I can't say that I have seen anything odd... Well, other than the five of you, I suppose... she looks at you all curiously. This looks dangerous... I guess I should be going.

Urson wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 4:08 pm I just had a thought: what do the Ecto goggles show Joker about the woman?

brains roll:[5d6] = 18 ghost [1d6] = 3
When Joker glances over his goggles are suddenly overwhelmed. It is almost like Nightvision goggles when you turn and suddenly see a very bright light source. Once the goggles whirl and adjust, and Joker is over his momentary dazzlement, he sees an odd combination of juxtaposed images. The measurement readouts and jerking back and forth as if trying to read Full & Empty, Negative and Positive, all at the same time. She somehow appears both muted and dazzling at the same time. Cloaked in a graying overlay while at the same time shining through it in an almost angelic way. Note, that is just an adjective, you cannot actually get a reading for "angel", at least not yet! All around her is a swirl of dancing and ever-shifting colors of bright light radiating from her as well as being somehow absorbed, and it is all happening within a defined area around her. There is "black light" which reads as the typical ambient energies you would see anywhere, especially in this town, but as they pass through the the other lights to her it seems filtered out before it passes through her and radiates outward as pure positive energies of one degree or another.

Lionel "Freight Train" Williams

Hearing some sort of commotion, Lionel looks over to see a young lady speaking with the team. He wanders over, warning her that she should not be here. Ma'am, you shouldn't be here right now. We don't know how dangerous it could be, and I'd hate for something to happen to you. Please, for your safety, can you step away, please?

Thats right mam, Jason says and turns to the woman Thats what we dooooo.... he trails off as soon as his vision settles directly on her. ...sssHIISSss... Jason almost turns his head trying to find the noise, "Nope thats all in here" he thinks as a headache begins to bubble up from the back of his skill and press on the skull in the middle of his forehead, Uhh, sorry, he turns looing away and pinching the bridge or his nose with his fingers. Yeah were always here to help. he says and smiles but doesnt quite look directly back at her, focusing on the ground.

Edit, Ninjaed! I will just assume this jumps right before Lionel intervenes.
