"No blood in their bodies, eh?" comments Daz to T'Prin. "Do you think that's what killed them or it was something that happened later on? Any clue on what would do this sort of thing? It seems worthy of research as it doesn't seem common. I'm going to check out the alien research they're doing but I'd love to review your findings."

Daz will ask one of the scientists to walk her through the alien studies they're performing.

T'prin will perform an autopsy on one of the bodies to determine cause of death.

T'prin, your tests show that the person died from Exsanguination (blood loss).

Daz, you are lead up to the research level and taken into the lab marked Xenobiology. You are reminded that everything you see is not to be revealed to anyone outside of this facility. As you walk through the door, you see 6 people working around tables with bodies laid upon them. As you move closer, you see that the bodies are of dead Sathar. The scientists appear to be doing tests on various organs.

Lloyd, you see that the lab gets it's air supply from a machine simply called 'The Gill'. It functions the same as gills on aquatic lifeforms. Extraction of oxygen from the water and purging of carbon dioxide back into the lake.

Rick, you follow the man into security and see a lone human monitoring several screens. He glances up and sees you and starts to get up, but your contact raises his hand and nods to him. The monitor guy sits back down. You are taken over to a back area with a lone computer terminal. Juroom, types in some commands and soon a frozen view of a room can be seen. In the center of the screen, you see a lone female scientist working at a chemical testing station. Juroom pushes play; "Watch closely!" As you watch, the women continues her work, then turns to look behind her. She moves to one side of the table, then slightly off screen. She suddenly comes back on screen, apparently screaming, and she crashes into a mobile table and falls to the ground. Her head is twisting back and forth, her hands clenched in pain. She writhes her body back and forth for a minute, then stops. Soon, you see her stop breathing and moving. Juroom, shudders, then switches off the video.

Rick is amazed by the video and unsure what to make of it. He wonders if there is technology that could make someone invisible to a camera.

He turns to Juroom and asks, "Do you be minding if I be calling my partners so they can be seeing this?"

If Juroom is okay with it, Rick will dial up the right channel on his chronocom and suggest that the others come to security ASAP.

"Are you only studying Sathar here?" Daz asks the scientist, "Or are there other species being examined in this facility?"

Once Rick's communication arrives, Daz activates her chronocom, "Ack.  Daz will be there shortly."  She turns to the scientist, "Can someone escort me to security?"

Daz, they confirm that Sathar are the only aliens we are working on. Also, they take you back down to the security office.

Daz arrives in security and waits to watch the security footage. Once the video is playing she watches without reaction then once it's done adds simply, "Disturbing."

"I will do some research but I'm curious if anyone has leads on what sort of creature could do this?"

Turning to any of the staff members present she asks, "I'd like to go over where the six were found on the facility map. To confirm, they all alone when they were attacked? I'd also like to know the days and times when they were attacked."

Once she has this data, Daz will analyze it to see if there's any pattern to when the attacks happen or a general vicinity to them.

Daz, the researchers have no idea what kind of creature could do this. Nothing they have in the database. All of the attacks took place during the 'night shift'. 2 of the bodies were found in their quarters, 2 in the labs, and the last 2 on the recreation deck, specifically, the ball room.

T'prin will head to the chow hall to grab something to eat, using that to pass time until night shift starts, once the night shift starts, he will wander randomly through the entire facility, not quickly but at a medium meandering pace

Are the attacks spread out so it's one per day or one every other day? Or is the frequency more random?

"How often do vehicles come and go from the facility? Do you have records of the vehicle movement, including who was on them and the cargo carried? How plausible is it that something could enter the facility without being detected?"

“Hey Trpin,” Lloyd asks, when they are reunited, “when you were looking at the marks I’m hearing about, did you take any pictures?” Lloyd is curious about this and would like to see them.

Sorry, it slipped my mind, to take pictures. But I describe what i saw, size of the puncture marks, and distance between, that kind of thing.

Lloyd, the submarine comes every week with supplies, mail, etc. As for the attacks, they occur every other day or so. T'prin, as you are eating, the others in the chow hall are eating, but very nervous. The last attack was 2 days ago and the creature is due to hit soon.

“Any difference between the holes? Or were they identical? I’m wondering about how you pull liquid blood out of a body like that. Think about it... if you drain a bladder Of oil, You put two holes in it, it will dribble out slowly. Even if you suction it, you will collapse the vessel before you get it all out. There’s just not enough pressure to do otherwise.”

“If you have one entry and wound and one exit Wound though, you push air in one way and pull the blood out the other... much quicker.”

“What if the body is injected with some substance or creature or engineered agent... that enters the blood and then does its Dirty work destroying or converting blood into... whatever... and then Exits out the body near the entry wound?”

“It wouldn’t explain what it is, but the mechanics of it would make more sense.”

Daz requests the team meets privately to discuss what everyone learned and how to proceed.  She encourages everyone to chime in on their insights and what they'd like to do.

"So we've learned that some sort of creature that is invisible to cameras, but not humanoids, attacks every other night.  It attacks its victims leaving two puncture marks on the neck area and the victims die from loss of blood.  There's a curious fright piece too as all victims had expressions of terror frozen on their faces.  The one video we watched suggests that the victim is physically overpowered then helpless to fight back.  I'm not sure if there's some power that the creature has or if the victims aren't skilled enough to defend themselves.  It's not paralysis as the victim was writhing and thrashing while she died."

"There's a good chance the creature will strike tonight so I'd suggest we stick together in pairs.  I'd also love to set a trap where we can monitor things and intervene quickly.  I'm not sure if the staff would be willing but I'd like to have them all pair up with the exception of one brave soul that would be the bait.  I'd want to make sure we set extra surveillance and it would be great if we can all be listening in on the room.   Thoughts?"

Rick suggests that employees of the station do everything tonight in pairs and that no one should every be alone. The leader of the station should make this announcement.

Rick also wonders aloud if someone at the station is actually the monster - kind of a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of thing.
