Frank smiles at Polly "Maybe we should suggest to your chaperones that they are no longer needed. Give me a moment and I'll be ready"
He slips off to speak to gunny to see if he has any suggestions for a quiet, romantic bar that isn't too far.
The Next Ticket
Re: The Next Ticket
Gunny smiles with genuine warmth and recommends two quiet bars within a short walk. He gives personal introductions to the owners/bar staff and insists on escorting "Miss Polly" to the door.
Polly sighs and holds Frank's hand as they enjoy the walk across the moonlit plaza.
They are followed through the pedestrian zone at an indiscrete distance by a grav suburban.
Because it steers around other pedestrians Frank guesses it is driven by a female aslan. By the way it occaisionally "rocks" on its suspension Frank believes it contains at least one male aslan.
The walk is incident free.

Re: The Next Ticket
With most of his new coworkers headed off in separate directions, Skip tells Gunny to have a good night, bids farewell to any remaining Marines still standing, and hails a taxi back to TAS to get some rest.
Re: The Next Ticket
Frank gives Polly the choice of which bar to head to first. He will be the perfect gentlemen, holding open doors, etc, and looks for a nice quiet corner where they can have some privacy and talk.
He orders a beer for himself and whatever Polly wants. He looks at Polly a little uncomfortably, but smiles
"Give me a warzone and I don't blink an eye, but a date with a beautiful women, that is something that gives me butterflies."

Re: The Next Ticket
"Hey, Beau, let's take a walk," Jakob said. The erstaz barracks needed some work, but they would hold warm bodies. Jakob had packed up his gear this morning and moved from the small apartment to the large shared liv-space. The fish-in-spicy-sauce Liv had brought last night made a good breakfast. Jakob put his fist to his mouth and burped. Very spicy sauce.
Beau nodded, put the rifle he was assembling back down on the table, and nodded to the others. "Save her for me, I want to make sure I can do it in less than a minute."
He dutifully trotted to Jakob and moved into parade rest.
"Sharp," Jakob said. "Let's walk. I saw a qana shop somewhere nearby; it's on me." The two men walked out, down, around, and Beau pointed out the shop. With steaming hot mugs, they found a quiet spot.
"Have you gotten any scuttlebutt about assignments?" Jakob said.
Beau frowned, but nodded. "I've gone from lieutenant to corporal. Everything seems a bit chaotic right now."
"Agreed. The CO and officers can make their decisions and assignments. I've gone from lieutenant to a sergeant of some form or other, so we're about even. What I do know is that you're in my squad. I've heard good things about you."
"Thank you, sir," Beau said. "Is there anything you need from me?"
Jakob nodded. "Lots. Nuts will be our heavy gunner, with the PGMP. George, Route One, and Johnny fill out our team. You know them better than I do, are there any issues?"
"None, sir. Route One will start talking politics half way through the first beer. But a solid trooper when it gets down to it. Same for the others."
"Good. Let the rest of the squad know. Get our bunks together, and grab one for me. Clue me in if there's something I need to be aware of. When you guys are having those impromptu weapons drills, I want in. Never hurts to get better." Jakob stood, "Any questions for me?"
Beau smiled. "Not yet. You were at Lanth, right?" Jakob nodded. "The guys will probably have questions about that. It seems to be a topic of conversation lately."
"As long as you don't ask embarassing questions, I'm all for shooting the breeze. Otherwise I might ask you about Henker. Sounds like there's stuff happening there," Jakob said. He grinned, and then relaxed. "I heard you were a man who could get the job done. I asked for you to be on my team. You can assume those two things are related. I'm looking forward to working with you."
Beau grinned. "I'll keep my questions polite, Sergeant."
