I hate these moments, I distrust the evil mage, and this Man-Frog… but what can we do but lock him up in the same cage Fairfax was in and go hunting this mage for answers or blood?

Rag-
Does Fairfax know any more about the mage of "fell spire" Sholtar?
Or does he know anymore about these cannibals lead by Krell (the man-frog)?
They are eating there own, right?
Looks like we stumbled upon an “Island of Doctor Moreau”.

This does seem like our only good option. We can't just kill the obviously evil frogman now that he's dropped his weapons.

Quick reply: Fairfax doesn't know much else about the frogmen. He has the definite sense that they intended something more than cannibalism for his destiny, based on their talk of something they called "the vat," about which there was some impatience as to "getting the right mixture"...

Oops, forgot to answer about Sholtar and the Fell Spire.
Fairfax knows only evil rumors of a sorcerer who roams the valleys of Hardway Mountain. It was not of great concern to the Kharg, who by and large never come into the valley anymore due to its hostility (the Gravenvolk Dwarves who once held and kept the valley being long gone from human memory); the Kharg who come to the valley only do so upon being exiled by Arn Flowmane, a strange shaman who holds sway over the Kharg.
If Fairfax thinks on his childhood, there was something about the sorcerer twisting the nature of animals and maybe turning children into toads, but perhaps it is only a tale told to scare young children...

Oh… okay. There is my take on this then.
The evil mage has been tampering with the “laws of nature”.
He uses the “vat”, which I hope isn’t … but suspect is, this pool of thick liquid into which Swilbosh just dove into.
The Man-beasts (frog-men and the like) overthrew the mage and dumped him into the vat hoping to turn him into a creature like he did to them.
Apparently they may have killed him in the process, but in any event they didn’t get the mixture right.
Somehow his spirit was in that ring, escaped the ring, and is now looking for a new host… luckily none of us was acceptable.
Seems they intended to turn Fairfax, and others they could catch, into more of their numbers.
My guess is that if the mutation process doesn't work, they eat the poor bastard, if it does work he joins them.
Either way, how does old Swilbosh look?
Is being a Lizard man any protection from whatever that ooze is supposed to do?
My guess is that fortunately the ooze isn’t the right mixture, so I assume he is okay.
But this is all just guess work on my part, I am probably wrong.

Just wanted to say I'm still lurking a bit and enjoying this game.
Thanks, ragnboneshopper, for stepping in as DM if I've never said it before.

I'll be away on a business trip through next Thursday. I should be able to post once or twice, but wanted to give the heads up in case my responses are too slow.

Awesome Ron, good to hear you're enjoying, and it has been my pleasure to step in. Onward and upward...

I didn't miss your question, Zeb, but I'm going to respond to that one IC since it occurred IC. I know I'm doing a lot of info-dumping recently and don't want to clog up the action thread with it all, so I've been supplementing OOC, especially since Fairfax knows a lot of things that clear up old questions for the campaign while setting up further possibilities. I figure you all might as well know pretty much everything relevant that Fairfax knows at this point...
Been a long time coming to this point; thanks to you all for sticking with it!
A couple other things then:
1) Swilbosh seems fine and feels fine after his little dive. Don't forget that there was another room down here that you haven't gone into yet, with a portcullis barring your entry...
2) No prob, onlyme, for the next week or so we'll roll onward if basically everyone else has chimed in and you haven't. Thanks for the heads up!

Once again, I vote we lock this from-man up and figure our own way to either bring the tower down... or get the mage inside it.
But we can't trust this monsters word, he is stalling for time. Either for his friends... or for the mage.

Can any of the spell casters charm the Frog-Man?
And if we move out, put the monster in the front where we can have a clean shot (free attack) at his back (+2 to hit) as soon as he does betray us.

Nope, nobody's got charm memorized. Doesn't matter now anyway...

Guys, unfortunately I must leave the game as it has become almost impossible for me to keep up with a minimally acceptable level of participation. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this game and to play with all of you. RB, thanks for picking DM duties when Vargr left.

Killing the previous frog put Malone at 1911, enough for 2nd level, plus then the 52+10%.
What does he get to do with levelling immediately versus waiting?
