Boff Cries out in anguish Frannie!!! as he throws a figurine of a wild boar down on the ground, followed by Beornheard!! Attack!!! pointing at the foe nearest Frannie. He will attempt to move towards Frannie fighting withdrawal, not turn and run with hope of administering a potion next round.

Did Frannie's Hold person go off on the Gnoll? I'm getting caught up on a lot of threads and may have missed the resolution or if it was squashed because of init, etc.

There never was a gnoll, you asked if Hill Giants were considered a person for Hold Person. I said that gnoll's are the largest size affected by Hold Person. You have not seen a gnoll in the area.

Ah, I misread that, makes sense.

In the Jotens - The encounter
Moonday, 10th day of Planting, 597
5th day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 59/63)
Androgost (AC 5 [no armor -6], HP 42/65, Armor 23/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 43/48)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 40/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 8/8)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)
Boff (AC 7 [no armor 5], HP 32/61)
Frannie (AC 9 [no armor 4], HP -2/26)
Boar (AC 6, HP 13/24)

Qleceec attacks the hybrid twice landing a single blow for 5 pts of damage.

Androgost attacks his giant (H1) missing with one blow but critically hitting on the second for 18 points of damage. The giant did not like that blow, but is still in the fight.

Nah Olos continues to attack the hill giant he back stabbed (H4). His foe is slashed across the belly killing him.

Siouxsie swings with her Khopesh but misses.

Garrant casts Hold Person on S7 and S8. S7 stops moving but S8 appears to not be affected.

Hex casts a carefully placed Paralyzation spell that does not seem to have an effect on the two giants she was targeting.

Raffi continues to hide in the tree with the future hopes of a backstab.

Boff pulls out a figurine and throws it to the ground and it transforms into a 4’ tall Wild Boar, which Boff commands to attack the Hill Giant that hurt Frannie (H3). The Boar gores the giant for 11 HP.
Boff tries to move through the giant to get to Frannie without exposing his back to the giant. The giant does not want his back to the group and does not allow Boff to get far.

Frannie continues to bleed a little from the wounds. (1 HP)

H1 continues to attack Androgost hitting him for 6 HP.
H2 does not like Boff methods and smashes him for 6 HP also.
H3 attacks the boar for 11 HP of damage.
S3 attacks Siouxsie hitting her with a claw for 2 points.
S4 also attacks Siouxsie hitting her with a claw for 4 points and then fumbling to end the sequence.
S8 attacks Garrant hitting with a claw and bite for a total of 9 HP.
The hybrid has a horrible round missing Qleceec with all three attacks.

It is the parties action again!

Hex will try Paralyzation again, setting the nearest edge of the area of effect at an angle, taking in all the remaining Hs and heading back covering the open clearing behind them and Frannie’s fallen body.

Raffi will climb down the tree, and beginning to circle around towards the fallen dwarf cleric to the south.

In the Jotens - The breath weapon
Moonday, 10th day of Planting, 597
5th day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 45/63)
Androgost (AC 5 [no armor -6], HP 42/65, Armor 23/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 46/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 42/48)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 40/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 8/8)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)
Boff (AC 7 [no armor 5], HP 26/61)
Frannie (AC 9 [no armor 4], HP -3/26)

Qleceec continues his attack on the hybrid, landing a solid blow, missing another and getting a third which hits. The hybrid takes a total of 5+12=17 points. The hybrid is still with us, but not looking as good as before.

Androgost lands a blow against the Hill giant (H1) for 9 points.

Nah Olos rushes over and lands a massive blow on the Hill Giant (H3)
Given the House Rules on movement in combat and changing weapons, (Switching weapons mid round will only be allowed if the first weapon is dropped and not stored or sheathed.) I am going say you left the crossbow behind to land this massive blow.

Siouxsie uses her Khopesh vs the Shtelke, but cannot get through that dragon like hide.

Garrant fires a magic missile doing 16 points - killing the Shtelke (S8).

Hex tries to use his other Paralyzation spell and it works vs. the hill giant H1.

Raffi climbs down from the tree and makes it most of the way around the combat.

Boff lands a blow against H2 for 7 HP damage.

Frannie continues to bleed out from the wound.

The boar continue to attack the giant, but does no further damage.

The Hill Giant fighting Boff (H2) continue to attack. Landing a club blow for 6 points.
The Hill Giant fighting the Giant boar and Nah Olos (H3) decides to focus Nah Olos hitting him with his club for 7 points.
The hybrid seems inspired and continues to attack Qleceec, hitting with both claws (but not the bite) for 14 points.

Most of the Shtelke have been Webbed, Held or Killed by Garrant, but S3 and S4 are still in HTH with Siouxsie. Siouxsie does an amazing job defending herself and only takes single claw hit for 1 HP.

That is when the battle changes shape. The green dragon (or is it three of them that are doing the EXACT same thing and there is a blurring and slight distortion between the three) moves around the corner Suddenly most of the camp site is covered in a green gas (green box). Two of the Hill Giants (H1 and H3) are killed by the gas. The Giant Boar turns back into a figurine of a boar laying on the ground. (the x on the map). H2 is NOT killed and our adventurers (in the box) need to make a saving throw vs breath weapon. The also has the affect of obscuring vision through that area.

Please note that it is clear the Raffi and the dragon are aware of each other.

Once this saving throw is resolved it will be the parties action!

Qleceec

She attacks the hybrid again.

Long Sword +2 [1d20+2]=15+2=17 to hit [1d12+4]=8+4=12 damage

Long Sword +2 [1d20+2]=1+2=3 to hit [1d12+4]=1+4=5 damage
Fumble add [1d10]=4
Critical Fumble [1d100]=63
Hit Self Critical Hit [1d100]=57
Using her damage roll above she doubles the 1 to 2+4=6 damage to herself.

-1 penalty already included.

gurusql wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2023 4:52 am Nah Olos moves behind the giant that did not see him. He quietly discards his heavy crossbow and plunges the sword into the giant's back with two hands (remember that one handed the bastard sword damage is the same a long sword - since your roll disagrees with your text I stayed with the roll.). The giant is very badly wounded, but still alive.
Once you swing the bastard sword with two hands you cannot still be holding the crossbow in your hand.

Assuming the six is the save, and your post says attack the dragon on the flank if he makes his save, what are you doing if you fail . . .
