Freya - To IFV Crew
Watch for trouble from the Hawkwind...Not sure if that's a mistake on our part or a defence on theirs. They may be about to do something brave!

Caxton acknowledges Jakob's order.
As the team is about to move out Love says "Wait one - I'll drop a frag to clear the door!" She scrambles back up to the ladders to the pill box top and is about to edge open the trap door when an explosion resounds from the south. Love shouts back down "The ruddy Flak Tower's gone - one of our IFVs took it out!"
Her grenade rattles the steel door and then the team bursts out into the trench. Only one dazed infantryman remains visible. George shoots him in the chest to no effect and then in the head which drops him. As the team advances Beau pitches another grenade downhill and into the west side of the main trench. Jakob presses on to find himself at the entrance to the trench. All's quiet on the western front (no doubt per favour of Beau's grenade) but to his right/east Jakob can her voices around the corner.

Jakob privately commed Love, "I hear voices, but there are friendlies in the AO. Have some grenades ready if they're not friendly."
Rifle up and on full auto, Jakob used the wall as cover and edged to see where the voices were coming from. He will hesitate to get solid confirmation, and yield initiative. If they are not friendly then he won't be either.
Jakob privately commed Love, "I hear voices, but there are friendlies in the AO. Have some grenades ready if they're not friendly."

The pair move forwards and Jakob hears the distinct tones of the local accent. He prompts Love to ready her grenade and she prepares and moves up as he edges closer still to get a visual confirmation. Risking a look around the corner Jakob sees API infantry and opens fire. He gets minor wounds on three of them but his fire merely distracts them from Love who lobs her grenade squarely among the fire team in the east section of the trench. Kit knows that the charge he put together couldn't produce that explosive effect on its own. It seems probable that the breaching charge detonated an incendiary booby trap with an improvised hydrocarbon fuel component which had been placed within the air lock itself.

I want you to look like you are going to enter from the door you opened and have Nuts guard that door for runners, but then using the new charge I am sending you climb the ship and breach from the top. All of the offensive troops and traps will be at the bottom."

Hearing the chatter and seeing his team, Jakob smiled. None of his people would shirk from the fight, but he needed to ensure no one felt left out while the work got done.
"Beau, you three set up overwatch up top, keep the enemy suppressed, and let them surrender if it comes to that." Jakob walked slightly away and went on the broader channel. "Caxton, I need-"
He quit talking as the mortar carrier, with Sgt Caxton and team on top, settled right beside him. "Good work."

Frank hears a tight beam call come in "SEMC HQ this is Hawkeye. I've picked up a small craft inbound to your pos. It has an Imperial standard milspec sensor suite and active search and TAR. I have it making 6G - military speed. Be advised per my information from Rogue's Gallery Six Actual is that this is a friendly allied craft. This is not a 4DC asset. Tagged as "inbound friendly" and designated Alpha One by my authority on your tac feed".
He sighs and with evident humour adds "Colonel, we have spotted some API infantry activity in positions about one and a half kliks due east of our pos (A4 to A7). Driver - get over by Killer and help me get him aboard. Then we skip over to the Ambulance. I'm not going to be able to move that much meat quickly on my own. Gunner - Keep an eye out...I don't want to get ambushed while playing Nightingale.

Frank recognises Skeet's voice "Rogues' Gallery Six Actual to SEMC Six Actual. My congratulations Colonel - we see all search and target acquisition radars down at the Starport. That's good enough for me. We are orbital going atmospheric and inbound to the DZ". Skeet then clearly selects another channel to transmit "Put on psywar ops, make it loud. This is a Romeo Foxtrot. Shall we dance?"
A cool professional female voice comments “Launch window is good. Transitioning to... optimal”.
Skeet adds “Launch on my command. Good luck. Everybody goes home. Punch it!”
Individual transmissions then crowd the channel:
“Yeehah, death from above!”
“Ooorah!”
“Express elevator to hell!”
“...soopah pah troop pah pah...”
Serial drawn out male yells follow cut through by a drawn out by a chillingly feral female scream “Óððiiinnn!”
Dubs checks with the techs and reports "Sir, we briefly detected multiple inbound micro craft, what could be escorting fighters and then massive orbital jamming above the Starport. Its both EW and physical - chaff and sand. All comm channels are now out save our encrypted transmissions which effectively block those. I haven't seen this since I was in the service sir!" It's at this point that Freya notices the two guys on the stair. The older guy wears high tech shipboard coveralls but the soldier stirring on the stair behind him still seems game despite his leg wound. Everyone does their maths and the guy on the stairs reaches for his gauss rifle and props himself up while the older dude reasons "Look, there's no need for you to die. That man on the stair's not mercenary scum like you so just back away now. Leave the vehicle, we'll be gone and you'll still get paid".
The IFV rotates its body whilst gliding towards Deliverance to point its front armour at that unknown threat whilst dropping its ramp for medevac. Freya and the driver scoot out of the back and easily locate Killer. Freya finds him face down. Upon rolling him over for a basic triage assessment she notes his front ballistic plate has been melted through presumably by some high energy beam weapon. Killer is semi conscious and mumbles "Just... can't... get me breath". Freya begins to surmise that Killer should buy lottery tickets or, since he may have just used up an entire lifetime's luck all at once, maybe not. She and her driver set about dragging the trooper into the IFV by his webbing. Jakob knows that with passengers disdainful of discomfort and in robust physical health an Air Raft can get them into the "new" berm and unloaded within a minute.
Beau grins "Sir, we've got these boys beat! Here take this with you". He heaves the grenade launcher aboard as Love adds another drum of HEAP ammo. Caxton gives a joyful whoop and slaps the breach of the Ma Deuce already loaded aboard "Yahoo, now we can play both kinds o' music!"
Jakob knows that with passengers disdainful of discomfort and in robust physical health an Air Raft can get them into the "new" berm and unloaded within a minute.

...Can you distract this clown with a drone behind him? The copter-blades on the drones are an effective weapon in their own right
while to the Gunner she'll note (also using internal comms)...

To the guys on the stairs she'll say out loud
You can just put that gun down and you'll be on your way as soon as we've processed the paperwork. We don't need to be heroic and nor do you.
Who is where exactly? Killer has his feet towards this guy, face up? Driver on his left; Me on his right. What have Driver and I done with our weapons while we are assessing Killer? What is the range to these two clowns? How far up the stairs are they? I'm assuming that we both have both hands supporting Killer.
n.b. Freya's gun has an AV link from her gun-sight and is remotely triggered...She can fire it while it is in an unexpected orientation if necessary and can do so even while it is remote from her...should it come to that.
Driver is one of those that were noted as looking good as a soldier but not necessarily actually being good...I'm hoping he'll follow my lead on the slow and careful rather than going all gung-ho.
These guys seem to want to talk and walk...we'd be down already if they were going to shoot first.
