Dubs replies "I have contact with Beau sir. He is with Sergeant Gaughan who has linked up with his own squad and some Guard remnants. I understand that they are counter attacking the insurgents... er... vigorously". Dubs pauses "It was a broken transmission but I believe Beau stated "These boys are de-ranged". I don't really know what that means, sir".

He says "I got the impression it was hours rather than days before the inbound ships reach orbit, sir".

He adds "The Spinward Star is moving out of our comms range sir. We might want to use the system range set in the gunship to maintain a link. Captain Cabral sent this. The nearest contact to us is a McClellan Star Class Armoured Merchant 300tons he then said "Ten passengers and fifty tons by the book". The other ship is a 1000ton Triad class merchantman he then said "Standard ten passengers but could be many more and five hundred tons plus". He told me to tell you that both vessels have streamlined hulls. Um... that means they're both atmospheric capable craft, sir. He also said he'd also monitored some initial long range radio comms including two apparent callsigns: Óðins vagn and Leiðarstjarna also referencing other assets Val-kyrja and ... er ... Loki. It's all contextual but Loki didn't seem to be a space asset, sir".

As Freya and Fredie start back, Freya will check out the staff floor. That traverses the whole width of the building and she'd like to ensure that there's not anyone there that shouldn't be there (apart from her and Freddie).

To Freddie The door is unlocked (Electronics Roll (2d6 + Electronics + EDU): [2d6+4]=10+4=14) and anyone might have snuck in.

Also, if it comes to another, these guys are inside already. I'll see if I can't get a headcount. Its strange none were upstairs at the time of that last attack.

Careful with the shooting though - it could be neutral, or even friendly in here

Frank to Dubbs "Thank you Lieutenant, that's extremely useful. If you manage to regain comms with Lieutenant Dawson, see if they need any support. Securing the garage and access to the gunship will be a top priority.

He then switches channel to Voss "Voss, we need to secure the garage area to regain control of the vehicles, and Dubbs needs access to the gunships comms. I will take your advice on this but I would image that the Sargent-Majors squad is best for this, they know the garage better than anyone else. We'll need troops to replace them guarding the VIP area and I think the Major's team should return to surveillance on the roof, now that we have incoming."

Freya is able to determine that the insurgents haven't accessed the staff floor (although she knows they failed in an attempt to pry the door open in their downward flight). Opening the door she and Freddie are met by a concerned crowd of housekeeping staff. They confirm they are secure, safe and well but enquire after the staff working in the VIP area above.

It being night shift the majority of them are on this floor and would have been asleep - were it not for the firefight.

Freya shuts the door behind her (With Jess?) and Freddy and heads for the other exit on the opposite side of the building.

OK Lets see if we can find what the guard are up to?

Jess, listening on unit comms, realises there's no need to descend the stairs and starts to climb back, heading to the medbay.

EDIT

Freddie, secure the door and bring Miss Ingridsdottir back to the medbay, we need to regroup and redeploy.

Something that was niggling Frank suddenly pops into clarity. He asks whoever is guarding the VIP area to check who's in the locked stateroom next to Polly's room. (to the right)

The room contains an "overflow" of the lesser flunkies and assistants to the Imperial Mission. They're quite safe but very relieved to now be rescued.

Jess and Freya

Jess regains the main east/west corridor and immediately sees Dog and Love in the corridor. Dog is kneeling and providing cover westwards while Love cups a hand to her armoured ear and points into the garage while taking increasing "slices of pie" on the interior from west of the entry hatch.

Freya experiences being "ushered" up the stairs by Freddie.

The Drone follows me upstairs, floating up the centre of the stairwell...I warn Freddie it's mine.

At the top, I'll head into the vehicle bay and scoot the drone outside for a quick look around - don't want to be surprised by a new set of arrivals - and then bring it back in.

Do we have control of that anti-ship missile battery I fixed earlier? And where is marked as safe in here?

Jess makes her way to the medbay. When she arrives she grabs a medkit and a bed to sit on. Struggling to lower her CES top she examines and treats her injuries, swearing quietly to herself.

The comm erupts as Dog shouts “Contact! Hangar deck!” ACR fire is heard to the south of the merc barrack block. “Medic! Love's hit”.

Caxton breathlessly responds “Cav troop. We're there now!” Voss adds “XO has eyes on, wait, out”.

Arrives to see Dog covering the passage west and Love scoping out the interior of the hangar bay from the hatch leading to the catwalk. Love suddenly takes aim and fires into the hangar with her gaussrifle. She is hit by return fire and pitches forwards over the threshold of the hatch. Dog barges forward and fires a burst down into the hangar bay.

Prerna and Jess

Liv, now wearing Navy coveralls, greets Prerna at the med bay. Tending to Jakob she looks upset but determined. All the wounded present appear both stable and comfortable. In answer to Prerna's inevitable question she states that she relieved Erica who set off to monitor security to the west (pool). By proof of absence it appears that she has taken he guard bot with her.

Dubs contacts frank “Sir, tight beam from Captain Cabral - patching you in”.

Cabral's voice competes with heavy background. He says “Colonel, McClellan have declared they respect Mertactor Lines neutrality but are jamming our comms. Someone has set out what appears to be strobes and a final guidance landing beacon in the dead ground outside the starport. I have a pair of contacts inbound to Inchin at 6G - military speed. My best guess based on tonnage and energy profile is fighters. They were launched from the further trader and were being masked by the front trader. Frank, these people know what they are doing. Our escort fighter is fully defensive and states he is under sensor lock from the armoured trader but can't get orders to fire. I understand that you have wounded - I could send our launch to evacuate them. I believe McClellan would accept a mercy flight on humanitarian grounds”.

When the alarm sounds over comms she stands up: Frell, here we go. Professionals'v got here. Game face on.

Prerna

Medic roll please to fix Jess.

The better you do the more LW equivalents (-ve DMs) you can wipe off.

Jess will still remain wounded but you can stave off the worst of the effects.
