On the way back to town, Aldus asks the others to help him compile a shopping list for dungeoneering.
"Ten foot pole. Hammer and spikes. Crowbar. More oil, right? A saw, perhaps? Block and tackle. Think we can engineer a water pump?"

"We probably want to finish clearing the place before we worry about the big stuff, like block and tackle and the like, that'll bring some attention hauling that into the wilderness. Maybe Madame Fleur can rustle up some people with the skills to drain the place and remove the statues ready for when we finish. When we take Feargus to the temple we should also bring the mask, shield and spear, they might be able to tell us if they're cursed. Oh, we should get some holy water while we're there too"

By the time the adventurers return to town the temple of Sarnis is closed for the day; an acolyte informs the adventurers that should they wish to return in the morning Muelrid will be informed of their requests and should be able to help them. "We cannot identify magical items, but we can determined if they are cursed," she says.

On the way back to the inn the adventurers espy the same dishelved man they had seen a week previous, standing upon a box and shouting at passers-by: "It is as I promised! The Gates have been Opened! Look to the Skies, people, Look to the Skies, for they come! They approach in the Dark, in the Night!"

There is nothing to be seen in the skies.

The adventurers return to the Temple of Sarnis in the morning. Muelrid, the right hand of Sarnis, greats them and examines Feargus's wounds. "It looks to be some sort of magical disease," he says, "I can remove it, for 125 gold. I was told you also have some items that you would like examined for curses. It will require a donation of 30 gold alcedes for each item, but I can only examine two items this day."

Back at the inn Telemachus spends some more time examining the snake fang armband they took from the corpse of the goblin chief. He is unable to figure out what it does.

Newton suggests they have the spear and shield checked the first day and the mask on the second day. He also suggests that we pay for it all (including the remove disease) from group funds.

Aldus agrees with Newton's proposal.

Aldus goes shopping for dungeoneering tools. Along the way, he stops to listen to the raving man in the market place and drops a couple pices of copper at his feet.

Feargus

Feargus gives a sigh of relief for the prognosis and rubs his chest. “Dodged an arrow there, friends! A round on me when I get this healed.”

"Bah!" exclaims the man as coins clink to ground, "keep your coppers, sir! They will be worth nothing when THEY come from beyond and make panpipes from your fingerbones!"

Madam Fleur

"Looks like someone will need to make a trip to Rhea's Ford." She ticks off items on her fingers. "Enchanting objects, identifying magical items, and selling those jade figurines . . . those are all goods that are too valuable for this town. I know the first two simply can't be done here; the last? I could *probably* sell a few after a week or so, but there's no way I can sell all of them with any alacrity. Rhea's Ford is two days away on a fast horse, and I -- or someone -- could be there and back in the time it takes to sell one of these little statues."

Gardo

"Sounds like we need to finish our business here, get paid then head to the Ford. Didn't we discuss going north of there anyway?"

"Madam Fleur, do you have a contact over at the other town that would assist us finding other companions? It seems to me that Junction can only attract so many qualified people."

"Yeah, we could take the job to re-establish contact with the town to the north and while we're doing that get somebody at Rhea's Ford to look at our finds"

"Not at the moment. If you are interested in doing so I, or someone, could look to hire an employee for the Rhea's Ford branch."

The man cranes his neck forward, examining Aldus first using his left eye, then his right. "The Watchers from Behind the Stars!" he stage whispers, "The Lords and Ladies! Demons and devils and those that dwell behind mirrors and inside shadows!"

Aldus nods gravely, humoring the madman. "Ah. Demons and devils. Rummy news, that. The rummiest, wouldn't you agree? Well, now that the news is out, what's to be done? Any advice for the concerned passerby?"

"I saw the JEWEL snatched from the CIRCLET!" he exclaims, eyes bugging out, "I saw it and I WARNED people! The GATES have been opened and those the DWELL beyond the VEIL have been given an INVITATION! What you do is up to YOU; I am but the VOICE!"

Muelrid prays to Sarnis and, after a brief period, the bruising on his chest begins to fade. "It should be gone completely by tomorrow morning," says the priest, "it is lucky you came to me so soon." He then turns to examine the spear and the shield. Neither bears ill enchantments.

Aldus does his shopping. A frontier town largely dependent upon the mining camps to the north, he finds that shovels, picks, hammers, and other excavating tools are in ready supply. He finds only two flasks of oil for sale. "I can get more oil for you," says Fleur, "it will likely take another couple of days, though."

The day is cloudy, but Newton does not think rain is imminent. The adventurers begin to plot their next course of action.
