I wasn't really referring to my 2E cutoff as old school, just my cut off. I started out with Holmes Basic D&D in 1979 and its still my favorite. No race as class, that was a screw up introduced in the next basic. We tried all the basic editions and always went back to Holmes when we wanted simpler than AD&D. I play a lot of HarnMaster so I chuckled when I saw tibbius' comment of the grind of D&D combat, I consider D&D combat crazy simple and fast. I could set up a HarnMaster game and have PC's dying of infections and it would be LOTS of posts for a combat.

I was running the archived 'Deadlands Reloaded' using the Savage Worlds ruleset.
Due to work issues I had to withdraw from a few games but I hope after some spring exams finish I will be able to restore it.
I will reach out to the players and possibly open up recruitment to fill any gaps. Check back by the end of the month.
Would definitely be interested to join. I’ll keep an eye out!

Don't get me wrong I'm the same TSR is my "old school" I like WoTC for other things like Magic The Gathering (older versions) once they got to about 6th or 7th edition of the card game they really started making it way too overpowered and insane with all sorts of new rules and what not. (A trend mayhap?) I didn't really get into reading until I found RL Stein and Steven King, which turned into reading Science Fiction/Fantasy books like the PERN series by Anne McCaffrey and Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan, and for the last 12 years or so the D&D novels from the 80's, 90's and newer. I've discovered my favorites R.A. Salvatore, Ed Greenwood, & Paul S. Kemp. I love the DL books by Tracy Hickman & Margaret Weis. (Yes I like DDO & Neverwinter as well game wise though it has been years since I played it.)
At any rate I have a pull or calling to the fantasy fighting one of these times I will play a C&C game if someone runs one. I worked with a guy on Google Communities before that went all business, in helping him make his own custom C&C races and classes. Though yes my heart is in D&D kinda where I got to let my imagination run wild growing up & how I spent most of my childhood with my friends.
So at any rate if someone starts a Castles & Crusades game, or a AD&D game I'm down! for the most part.
Looks like I missed when Eris started his C&C game...

The "Satanic Panic" was a legitimate issue, and TSR did what they thought was the best thing to make the game more marketable to the masses. If that meant removing the terms angel, demon, and devil in lieu of celestial and fiend to get parents groups off their case, then so be it.
The "PC Police" phrase was mine, not the wikipedia article's. I dislike bowing to poorly thought out pubilc opinion. Likely TSR did the best they could at the time.

Having been a heavy metal listening D&D player during that time period I feel they did their best to alleviate fear from the parents who were purchasing these books for their kids. I was lucky in that my parents were open-minded. But alot of the adults then were brandishing their torches and pitchforks against anything that was loud and/or connected to Satanism.

Every time I see "C&C" I only ever think of this:

Just skimmed the first part of my C&C PHB. What do you consider its strengths, compared to 1e AD&D?

That could be part of it, I was already out of the house by the time that issue came up.

First thing that came to my mind was Call of Cthulhu (CoC), until I looked again and saw the & rather than an 'o'.

This looks like something I would have loved to have as a kid. It's like a kids version of War Hammer

Going to lay this out for consideration:
Swords against Demons - Karameikos. Adventures in Mystara, using a rules package designed to make play by post faster. Random character generation, six classes ("callings"), six origins. I have a sample adventure ready to go - it starts with a family of gorillas intruding on the players' campsite as the players clean up breakfast and get ready for a day on the jungle trail.

I joined this site to play some old school D&D and then my character died in like the first barrow. Now I'm in a Vampire and a cyberpunk game and I'm wondering if anyone is looking to start some classic dungeon delving fun?

Yes.
That's all I can share for now.

Thank you.

I keep pushing off the next saga from The Unknown Darkness; more on my plate than I can handle right now.

Yes absolutely! I'm all about the old school "delving"

Granted I won't be able to start one but I am up to play in one.

Yes I remember Endor the half-orc. Sadly though
Barrowmaze is the quintessential dungeon crawl that offers lots of roleplay, traps, mystery and adventure, it takes both a committed DM and a committed party to make it fun for everyone.
I have noted several archived Barrowmaze campaigns which perhaps is indicative of how time consuming and demanding running such a game is. (Kudos to you GM guys with epic lasting campaigns on here!)
I would consider another bash at it or similar using Lab Lord or early (pre 3rd) editions of D&D.

I have been in 2 Barrowmaze attempts and they were fun. I am certainly up for dungeon crawl type adventures.

Barrowmaze
I do have a copy of Greg Gillespie's 5th ed conversion of the mega-dungeon and more than a decade ago partook in the Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of the second Barrowmaze production.
I could be tempted to run it if my players from archived campaigns such as Pirates: C&D forgave me for not resurrecting those in preference.

I'd not begrudge you running something you want to, and I doubt anyone else would, either. Suggest you start setting up for a campaign!
