Re: OCC Thread
Yep, Majik's character is ready to go. You'll be seeing him at some point in the near future, I should think...

Re: OCC Thread
Since we don't really know what or who awaits us inside the tower, a splitting of the party might become dangerous. I'd prefer to stay together, if possible. The back door probably isn't guarded as well as the main entrance, so my vote goes to entering there. I'd love to draw them out and catch them with an entangle spell, but Andrin has already cast that one today.... We should also expect that both doors are locked or barred. What then?
Re: OCC Thread
I agree. I say 2x2 with weapons drawn but quiet...
thief in front to check traps/lock once we hit door.
unless there is a side path to explore?

Re: OCC Thread
A couple quick notes/clarifications:
- Andrin, you can cast entangle again. Remember that we're using "versatile" Vancian, which means at 2nd level you can prepare two 1st level spells per day and you can cast two per day, but you can cast the same 1st level spell twice, if you so wish.
- In case it wasn't already clear, there's a front gate and back gate in the waist-high wall around the compound. There is only one door into the tower. Is the idea to go in the back gate and follow the path around to the door? Checking both gate and door for traps?
- The "side path" is the path that leads from the back gate and joins up with the main path before it leads to the tower door.
Planning to update tonight. Let me know any clarifications/changes, and if not then I'll go with it.

Re: OCC Thread
Right on! I completely forgot about that rule, so thanks for reminding me, DM!
In this case, we could try to lure them out of the front door to catch as many as possible with entangle. What do you think?

Re: OCC Thread
Ok, I would have updated now, but it sounds like this plan is still formulating. Let me know exactly how you're going to lure out the tower's occupants, and where everyone is going to be when it happens.

Re: OCC Thread
Here's an idea: We use our little prisoner as decoy to draw them out of the tower (they will sure try to get him alive for food or whatever), and then cast entangle to catch them while they try to get at him. Andrin must be careful though not to cast the spell too close to the entrance door, in case we must hurry there to get inside, as I doubt that all the tower's inhabitants will come out.
I therefore suggest that we split in two groups. One group rushes at the door as soon as those who came out are entangled (let's hope they all fail their ST's!) and tries to prevent the entrance from becoming closed again. The other group deals with the entangled beings. What do you think?
Keep in mind that Andrin is neutral in alignment and therefore has no qualms about using little froggy as bait...

Re: OCC Thread
Malone is too large and clunky to be sneaking, so he needs to hang out with the ones at the front door. He will adjust his equipment to ready his bow.
One thought is that once we do the entanglement, we rush to the back door and work our way in that way?

Re: OCC Thread
Whoops. I posted before I checked the Ooc thread here. Feel free to contradict Oz dialoguically (I made that word up) in the action thread. Though it still might be nice to have someone sneak up to the second floor, then send the decoy to the front door? The second floor folks could then attack from behind? Or maybe this is dumb. Still, if we attack head on, even with the entangle, what's to prevent someone still inside the tower from simply shutting and barring the door while we tussle outside?

Re: OCC Thread
Hey all, I'll give this a bit more time for ideas to gel. I realize this is a little different than our usual posting protocol where everyone gives their two cents and the majority rules, but I felt this situation called for more of a party consensus. That said, update tomorrow night at the latest...
Re: OCC Thread
How about two or 3 of us flank the door then rush in once whatever is coming out comes but hopefully beating the Entangle. Those two prevent the door being shut. Reluctant to go with a winddow entry as we would then be fighting on 2 fronts with no way to help each other.

Re: OCC Thread
We should concentrate on the front door, as it will be the one that they open when they try to catch froggy.
Re: OCC Thread
Malone is ready to do whatever, ...so long as he lives, of course.

Re: OCC Thread
I agree with the front door / entangle approach, though I feel it gives the occupants (sorcerer) time to prepare and surprise us inside. Thus the initial stealth suggestion via window in tandem with front door tactic.
I'd like to do a secret door check around the base, as just one door in seems unlikely. And look at those runes on the door more closely.
Let's hope the lizard creatures don't have bows to shoot from the windows.
Is Stonjuz still here as an NPC? Can he cast bless on us before doing this?

Re: OCC Thread
The weak spot in our plan so far is that possible guards on the watch might detect us when we sneak close to the tower. But we can't avoid this, obviously, so we should just go with it. A secret door check is agood idea.Grognardsw wrote:I agree with the front door / entangle approach, though I feel it gives the occupants (sorcerer) time to prepare and surprise us inside. Re: OCC Thread
All the windows face the same direction so if we don't stay in front of the tower they won't be able to take us out with archers. The tower itself rises four levels. It appears to be of simply carved obsidian, smooth and almost featureless except for the windows on each level, which all face the same way as the door, toward the east.

A secret door entrance the best thing that could happen right now. I'm all for it.
