What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)

I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.

I'd be up for either of those games.

Id like to learn to play fate. And play some traveller. And I really want to play a game that uses the Iron Empires setting from Christopher Moeller's graphic novels.

Fate is not popular here...a quick search reveals no games. Although I wouldn't be able to start now, I could run a Fate Accelerated for 2 or 3 people interested in trying the system. I've been wanting to run a Dragonknight kind of game for a long time. Earliest would probably be a couple weeks from now in any case, and we probably wouldn't get too much interest. IME, Fate works pretty well in a one on one game, so even then, it would still be possible.

If you put that together I would definatly play; I've tried to get my head around fate core by reading it and tried to sell a FAE deathwatch (40k) game to my group got no traction. If you've the time to introduce a novice I'd appreciate it

Alrighty, then. I have interest from one more already by PM. So let me have a crack at it. Probably I can get something going soon. I’ll keep you updated @Spykee.

I'm kicking around the idea of a post-apocalyptic wastelands game, using rules based on Tunnel Goons.

I was thinking of using these rules that I wrote: https://tibbius.itch.io/blood-sky. Trying to organize a playtest, live play-by-post on Discord.

Looks good but I can't do live gaming at the moment. Far too much going on with our families that trying to pin a day down doesn't work.

Well, I would be interested to participate as a player in a new forum play-by-post game using any of the following rulesets:
Werewolf: The Apocalypse
Call of Cthulhu
Deadlands Classic
Vaesen
Star Wars D6

Or anything else that's investigation and mystery based and requires some thinking.

Not interested in DMing anything at the moment. I am doing enough of that in real life... but of course I am still toying with a Project: Twilight oWoD game in my head - that is far in the future though :-)

Welcome again Quaelgeist! We have a long running Star Wars D6 game on the boards.
Hope all is well and you get into a game soon!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Hello rredmond,

Yes, I am aware, but I am the guy who has trouble getting acclimated to games, that have already been underway for quite some time.
Hope all is well on your side too and I am not in a hurry. Whenever an interesting new game opens up, I'll simply apply and see what happens.

regards

Agreed, getting into a long running game can be difficult. There's so much shared history to catch up on. I've done that once, here, with the District 268 game. I can still feel the gap between the original players and myself, but there's very little in game play that shows. More my own perception of being a new guy.

One thing I have also done is look for games that have recently started. This helps, as you know the game has some traction but you're still getting in on the start of it.

I have a game of Fair Ones going on. One player right now, the other had to drop due to life reasons. So far a high school teacher has been murdered by one of his students, who is a thrall of an avatar of Czernebog, who is running an illegal firearms factory. Now the older brother of the killer's best friend is visiting the grandmother of another of the killer's classmates; the grandmother is an arcanist (binds spirits to make enchanted objects) and the older brother is an occultist (deals with spirits).

Do you feel caught up?

As a player, I'd prefer to be involved in an AD&D 2e game set in Dark Sun, Ravenloft, Planescape or perhaps another setting depending on the specifics.

As a DM, I'd run a Dark Sun campaign using AD&D 2e rules, but I'm not currently looking to run a game, though I may change my mind.

Thanks for the heads-up, but that system doesn't look like it's up my alley.

That's a perfectly reasonable response. Games get started very frequently here, I'm sure one will come along that grabs you.

Speaking of games getting started, it's gonna be A Cold Day in Hell before I start another ...

Hmm is it me or has this place gone almost entirely away from old school D&D games? I noticed a mass of Traveler and other games have kind of taken over lol. Well and most of the old school "goodness" are long running aged games not typically looking for new players. I noticed I'm down to playing about 4-5 games now but hey I'm stepping my game up DM wise starting a 3rd game here in the next month planning is well underway.

I'm still looking out for any new 1e or 2e AD&D games to start up, I'll be wanting to play but always willing to hold out on a waiting list for newer folks looking to play.

In other words I'm looking for old school D&D games!

Most of the OSR stuff seems to be Basic (brown/red/blue box), pre-AD&D. I prefer the separation of species and class, but not the later move away from humans as viable characters. I'm not sure when cantrips came in; as a player I liked them but as a DM I'd need to get that book and read up.

There are a lot of Traveller games here, more than a lot of other boards.
