Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Aftermath
The construct cobra is bashed and bludgeoned to pieces, -5hp & -15hp, whatever spirit possessed it becomes disembodied and dissipates to go back to whence it came.
Finally peace reigns and the group, can consolidate this explored room. Three constructs smashed to smithereens. A wooden coffer containing a score of precious gems. A tricorn hat upon a grinning skull.
Two characters comatose and will remain so for at least a couple of hours. Gnimish & Isvand.
Gerdal, breathing, on 2hp, sustained presently by the reciprocal health given by Harkazz, (you lost -2hp per round once the venom onset continued and were at -4hp when SD layed hands upon you).
The poltergeist activity in the far room ceased.
Discuss next options. Resting, studying spells and even waiting upon any Vermissian Sage return might be the main choice, but you can decide. There are more unexplored areas of the Long Corridor if you want to press in.
choices & actions please

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Gerdal finally manages to sit up straight, not having witnessed anything that have taken place lately, she looks around in confusion and starts asking questions.
"Cursed automatons! I will hunt them down whenever I see them, on this I swear."
After seeing to Gnimish and Isvand, making sure they will pull through, she lies down again to rest.
"Yet again this cursed place nearly became the end of us. We will have to stay even more wary. You let your guard down, and that might be the end of you."
She looks around.
"Well, I'm hardly able to stand up, and at least two of us are out cold. Mabye better safe than sorry and stay here until we get some rest? I cannot administer any help before I rest."
Patra-Patra gathers the remains of the three snakes, carefully avoiding any poisoned glands or stingers, padding them inside Gerdal's bed roll. They might very well be worth something to someone.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Figuring a two hour break gives time for Gnimish and Isvand to get back on their feet and for Gerdal to recover from her near death experience.
Mages (Cosmo, Gerdal & Amos) can use the time to study spell books, leaving Sir Dewey and Gideon to consolidate their position.
Patra-patra & Copperpiece can make a few rations up, serving some brothy soup and bread from the combined rations.
The miners patrol the corridor with the clerics. Nothing intrudes in the lower labyrinth, however with the break drawing to a close, Bucko & Tamson shout from above. "A wagon approaches!"
After a verbal exchange, two figures climb down from the wagon. It is Cadeweed, a new Guild member, joining a couple of days ago and commissioned by Deucalion the Adventurers Guild steward to come with the extra supplies from the mercantile to help bolster any stronghold that the Guild was making.
He has a wagon of supplies: (as detailed in the Co-op thread)
Actions: meet & greet, renew any lost spells within that two hour study break.
Decide on next explorations.

So at this point, you can welcome Cadeweed into the group, along with his npc mercenary bodyguard Barba.Supplies of basic pick and sledgehammer excavating tools and equipment, bags of fortifying cements, a spool of barbed wire, a range of 'home comforts' such as blankets, sleeping bags, fresh rations, barrels of clean water or ale kegs, two iron kegs filled with lantern fuel, dozens of torches, lengths of rope and door wedging spikes.
Two quivers of arrows and a few Duchy broadswords and spears, plus a crate of imported Holy Water vials in a strongbox (x10) and a single dose of a Cure Poison anti-venom secured from an alchemist in Ironguard and two grenades of Gnome's Wrath, a thick gelatinous cube that ignites when exposed to air, created by Konrad from the Artificers and Innovative Connoisseurs.
Decide on next explorations.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Amos climbs up to greet the newcomers.
"Welcome, Cadeweed and Barba. I trust everything is well in Helix?"
He looks at the second wagon and all the supplies. "You have been busy, I see."
The bald headed thief turned cleric reminds the others of the traps that were left in the entryway before helping with the supplies and filling the pair in on what happened since they arrived.
"I wanted to go after Sven and Orgoth, but......but......what if they ended up in the Nine Hells or something?"

Isvand smiles weakly as he hears about the cure poison anti-venom. That seems like a good thing to have in stock... I'm just gonna have myself a little lie down while we all get sorted.

Amos will keep a close eye on our devil dealing Keymaster as well.

"Thank ypu for the food, I appreciate it."
After Cosmo restudies Detect magic, he will go to the box of jems and
F/RT vs. 45 [1d100]=73
After that he will put on gloves and count them as look closely at them and count them and let everyone know what is here.

Cadeweed
Cadeweed stands a few inches under 3 feet tall with very deeply tanned skin, a full head of chestnut brown hair with sideburns. He wears dark green adventuring clothing over his leather armor. His visible weapons include multiple short swords, a sling and a net.
"Greetings! Helix was fine - now the road here that was a different story. We had the wagon stolen by a band of carnivorous apes and met two other hostile groups. I am sad to report that Crabtree did not complete the journey. Now were are Sven and Orgoth? What has the group encountered?" (P.S. I have read the thread)
For the record Sven and Cadeweed discussed being on the same tug-a-war team for one of the festivals.

Decide who takes this and if it is worn in place of a helm. You can read the archive posts to get sny descriptive of it."The tricorn is magical, woo ho, lets sail the seas. Also what are we going to do now, I could use a safe break."
Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Vermissian Sage re-appears, suddenly walking through the bricked up wall, though only partially, resuming a similar pose to the one he took before. In his hands the manuscripts and parchments of spell research notes taken from Reggino's ledger.
Vermissian Sage: spell research vs 18 [5d6-3]=20-3=17
"I have completed my research to the best of my knowledge though my dissertation my be incomplete and lack sound and rigourous testing.
Still my theories and reasoning lead me to finalise my conclusions and I have drafted some missing linguistics, formulaic algebra and hypothesis to suggest a new type of spell."
Gerdal may take her studies back and read up in his research in the next study break time.

Sir Dewey
"Good to see you again, Cadeweed. Sven and Orgoth have disappeared, hopefully transported somewhere nearby in the maze." He tells the tale.
"Most of us need to rest and recover, but with your supplies, I think we can work on fortifying this section."
SD spends the time setting up home with the barrels, kegs, and such. He asks the miners to assist in setting up barricades with the wire and cement.
"Now that we are on our feet again, should we go after another door?"

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
If there is no one else who wants to wear the magic hat, Amos would try it on. (I don't think he has a helmet)
Amos looks up to the paladin. "I am glad you are able to keep a positive attitude about the situation. I still feel a little guilty for not going after them. If they are alive, they could probably really use a cleric right now."
He nods emphatically when busting down another wall is suggested. "It's what he would have wanted."

Gerdal
Can we have a copy of the map again in order to decide were to go?
Gerdal is very interested in what the Vermissian Sage has to tell her, suddenly quite vigorous. "Ah, you are here, excellent. I had a vision of this spell as the venom ran through my veins." She glances momentarily at the others. "Maybe a near death experience is the key to enlightment? I need to consider that. Theoretically, you could extend your life almost indefinitely by being in a constant state of half-death, and your mind would be expanded throughout the years!" She stops as her eyes meet Amos's. "Well, theoretically of course."

Sir Dewey
Thanks for the map!
"Let's hit that space near the entrance. It looks like it has two doors, both of which we could never get open. Then continue east down the hall."

Cadeweed
Having almost died to get the supplies here does not want to leave them behind. He will carry two vials of holy water, the anti-venom and one of the Gnome's Wrath grenades. (Added to sheet)
"Sir Dewey I would be happy to try my hands on the two doors if that is the way we are going."

Amos looks around at the east wall in the last room we just entered to see if any other secrets can be found.
"What have you found there, Cosmo? Gems?"

"I counted the gems in the cubby with the dead thief, I was waiting to tell you about it."
GM: I did it in a previous post, waiting for reply. Post 708
"The crypt to the left of the brass sage is...A twenty foot square room, typical of basic dungeon construction with flagstone floors and stone dressed walls. The west and north walls have small burial alcoves in them, dusty boxes about an arms length deep that from first view look to contain undisturbed bones. Three old wooden cabinets line the east wall. They are long but narrow and have slim drawers, the tops are glazed over, very much like the type of display cabinet you find in museums. Each glass lid has been broken and some previously displayed artefacts taken away though others are still on show. One cabinet has a skeleton on show, the bones labelled, femurs, tibia, pelvis, etc. The room is dusty and damp but otherwise looks danger free.'.."
