Yes. Modifiers are +/- 4 based on your IC roleplay and the NPC views, usually.
I felt like the"scene" was getting long and wanted to push through it to get everyone else involved again. I suppose it worked, but not the way I'd intended.

Markd doesnt want to fall asleep, so he refrains from moving too close to the trogs. He focuses on any inbound javelins while he waits for the sleep to take effect.

(not sure if watching for missiles can help "parry")

Is Bandy or Hengist closer to the trogs? If we are roughly equidistant can I tell which of us looks more badly injured? I am going to cast Cure Light Wounds in any case, just want to target it on the one who seems to need it most.

Hengist prays to Baudh to grant healing. Cure Light Wounds [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3. and not much help there

Bandy is severely wounded, but I would assume Hengist to be worse off since he took more damage and is a cleric.

He will drink one of his healing potions...

healing potion [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7

OOC: That should put him to... 20? I had Bandy at 24 of 28 before the fall. Is that accurate?

Hengist will cast it on himself then. Bringing him to a whopping 11 hit points.

Winnie slams her staff into the ground, releasing magical energy through the earth around you. The fragrance of flowers blossoms in the hallway and four of the Troglodytes collapse to the ground, javelins still in their quivers. Fingers, practically invisible in his cloak, fades back against the wall to wait his opportune moment. Bandy and Hengist quaff and pray, mending the bruises from the fall (your totals are correct). Markd steps boldly to the fore, knife and sword in hand as he protects the group. The last trog hurls his first javelin at the warrior, but Markd swats it sway.

You here more hissing, chanting behind him in the hallway.
The walls shimmer again and four more trogs crawl out, stepping over their fallen comrades...

Light: Winnie's continual light
Effects: Sleep (4 down)
Injuries: Hengist (moderately injured), Bandy (minorly injured), Fingers (Minorly wounded)

Dammit.

So, how many more Sleep can Winnie cast?

We need a way to fight the caster instead of its minions. Any ideas?

No more Sleep Spells. 2 Webs, one Mirror Image. Then a bunch of things that be useful if we had tried the Wizard's Tower...

Winnie sings and sways. Webbing appears across the tunnel between herself and the troglodytes as far down the path as possible so the party has more time to escape. This is not going well, friends. I thought it was, but then it was not. I believe the voice is the elf, and he does not want to talk anymore.

She then calls out in elvish, Gadrinast! Or whomever you are! I apologise for offending you! We wish you and your friends no harm. Please call them off and we will be on our way. There is no need for this!

Now you tell me that Winnie has a bunch of spells that would have been useful in the wizard's tower!

Fingers briefly—very briefly—contemplates trying to sneak unseen past all the trogs in hopes of getting into a position to backstab the putative Gadrinast. He doesn't like the idea at all, but it's better than letting an insane spell-slinger continue throwing monsters at the group. Of course, even with his cloak, there's a risk that someone could see him. Can an elf see past the concealment of an elven cloak? Fingers doesn't want to find out. And even if he manages to sneak past the trogs and the mad elf unseen, and even if he manages a successful attack from behind, what if it doesn't kill the elf? Then he's a dead man. Still, it looks like he's a dead man anyway.

With a resigned sigh, he gives Sprinkles a look that says, stay. Then he starts to creep forward—only to stop when Winnie puts the web barrier in place. Instead, he remains hidden, ready again to backstab any trogs that make it to his position past Winnie's spell and the front ranks of defenders.

Backstab w/longsword +1 (THAC0 17): [1d20+6] = 17+6 = 23, [1d8x2] = 6x2 = 12+2

Would someone please roll initiative?

That was the entire propose of us resting with the spectres! Hengist and Winnie took spells for that evening/understanding wards. But then everyone changed their minds. I even mentioned that her current list of spells would be okay, but not great.

Again, I'm okay if Winnie dies here. I pushed that roll though the+2 was more than I thought warranted since she offered to pay for the artifacts. But it's on me and I'm okay with it. You all ought to figure out how to get across that pit trap. Marullus, can we walk along the side of the tunnel and get past it?

Initiative [1d6] = 3

Markd is still paralyzed with inaction due to the obvious casting by his tunnel-mate. He continues to act as a shield from the soon to be incoming javelins that come their way.

Eyeing the sleeping trogs and the new ones that are awake, Bandy quaffs a second potion of healing before they can begin their attack...

"Fingers, if you can slip past the wakened ones, maybe you can dispatch the sleepers while we handle the others..."

2nd healing potion [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6

(I've marked off the two healing potions. That puts Bandy up to 26 of 28. He's ready to fight now...)

Hengist looks at the newly appearing frogs and still feeling weakened from the pit quaffs a healing potion.

Potion of Healing [1d6+2] = 2+2 = 4

Now up to 15 HP, 2 healing potions and 2 CLW left)

Bandy and Hengist deal with their wounds further, hidden at the rear.

Leaving their four companions asleep, the last trog and his four new arrivals coordinate, pulling out their javelins and hurling them at Markd as the foremost target. They clatter against the walls and clink off his armor, except one which catches him in the shoulder (-5). The raspy voice around the corner continues to chant - the walls swirl and three more Troglodytes emerge.

Winnie finishes singing her Melody and webs fill the tunnel from you to the bend, the webs infused with the wild power of Beith and preternaturally thick and strong. One Troglodyte breaks free, stumbling forward out of the webbing and right into range for Fingers' surprise attack - the trog collapses dead as the Longsword emerges from his chest (-12). The other seven thrash against their new webbing bonds, the four slumber on the floor, now stuck fast, too.

Winnie can't cast and negotiate at the same time... No CHA roll that round.

Now feeling much better, Bandy fires an arrow at one of the entangled trogs...

Shortbow THAC016 [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8 Damage [1d6] = 5

how much light is there around this place? Does anyone have a normal chance of seeing the elf in that light?

Markd will move around the sleeping/webbed trogs to look for the elf itself to attack if there is light.
If not, he will dispense with the sleeping trogs.

I will NPC Winnie. I still need Hengist and Fingers.

The only light is Winnie's staff, so that is 30'. The webbing is mostly dark and fills the whole hallway (have to cut through, not just walk). The voice was around the next bend, nobody here has infravision so nobody can see without Winnie's light.

Hengist will dispatch trogs. They attacked us, so I don't even feel guilty about sleeping/enwebbed enemies.

"Let's get out of here," whispers Fingers. "Winnie, can you ask the elf to leave us alone while we leave? Please?"

I assume the hallway is too crowded for Fingers to use his bow on any trogs that make it through the webbing? And I know I've asked before, so I'm sorry about that, but how long does it take to bust through webbing? Rounds, or turns? IOW, do the webs give us enough time to safely make our way to the other side of the pit?
