After the Army Navy game each side sings their alma mater. The winner sings second.

It has a holographic hull. Just program them in. Change it to something else when you like.

It is truly hilarious and very true! I love the interservice kidding around especially when it is true like this one. Of course they forgot to mention landing on a deck that was pitching, rolling and yawing 10 feet in each direction in bad weather.Thumper wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 4:55 amHere's the problem with "Going Navy":helvorn wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 4:01 am https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:qmd4qn ... _src=embed

One of the most awesome sights was sitting on the cruiser in rescue destroyer station 1000 yards astern of the carrier at night with everything darkened and watching the F-14s take off with full afterburner.

I think we're now all "in" - but just in time for me to go out!
Update Saturday (if I survive the traditional Xmas tradition of everyone's "staff night out" coinciding in the pubs of the North. Also known as "Black Eye Friday"...

Tiglath, I must say that naming the provosts Burgess, Maclean and Philby after the three best known members of the Cambridge Five was delightful. Using Cyrillic script for their thoughts was ironically hilarious!
Let's hope that the Aslan bodyguards don't meet a heavily armed and armored naval trooper named Washington!

While I ramble on my pal who cooks Korean food for us decided a very hearty meal was required for our winter's foray last Friday and gave us Army Base Stew (Buddae Jjiggae). This is perhaps best described as "fusion" style food and celebrates the US intervention in Korea via the reflection of the (then) most welcome abundance of food available from the west. It consists of a traditional spicy and savoury broth base with kimchi but with the main event being processed noodles, spam, hot dogs and baked beans. We were excused the slice of processed cheese that often "crowns" this light snack before walking to the pub feeling "suitably fortified" against the evening chill.
Re: The Starport Dive
Wow! Nothing pairs as well with Frank and beans as Spam!!
Re: The Starport Dive
Hugely tasty and, I'm entirely convinced, addictive!
Served with select beers, a bottle of soju, steamed eggs and rice (or maybe that should have been MASH???)

I've just recalled our other nod to the US before we set off: a round of B-52 shots (I believe technically Baby Guinness).

Ah! The B-52, otherwise known as the BUFF...the "Big Ugly Fat, er, Fellow". I hope your shot glasses were wide-mouths.

Happy Xmas/Solstice everyone. I'll try to get an update out between holidays then resume in January. Happy Holidays all and thanks for everything you bring to the game.

And expect a gift at the end of the year. I have a New Year's tradition that I do for my players (and now Tiglath's) and they get something special at the end of the year.

Re: The Starport Dive
Okay, it's time for the end of the year gift. As I said earlier, Tiglath will have to say no to his players if he doesn't like it. See? I made him the potential bad guy, so I'm the cool GM!
My normal D&D end of year gift was to bump players a level, but that doesn't work for this. Instead, there will be skill boosts handed out. If you have a level 3 skill you'd like to bump to 4, tell me what it is, and I'll update your character in the skills sheet. Tiglath will have to handle that in his own way. If you'd rather bump 2 level 2 skills to level 3, that's fine. 4 level 1 skills to level 2? Go for it. Here's the catch. You have to have the skills in question at at least level 1 and no mixing skill levels to math me. If there is an odd skill out, I'll make a note and when you get something to the appropriate skill level, I'll bump it like the boost was on credit.
See? Easy as pie. I hope you all had a <insert festive holiday of choice here> and have a happy New Year as well.
Sound off with your choices!
