"Two places in this world make it impossible for a man to escape from himself: a battlefield and a prison cell." ~ Anwar Sadat
Here's a crude map of the battlefield. The dimensions aren't entirely accurate but I hope it will suffice to give a general idea.

- Battlemap1.jpg (215.6 KiB) Viewed 572 times
Torvik seeks out the wolfy and brings Durvan's Sword to mete out punishment. And punishment is received by the painted man who is now a wolf. It growls and leaps again at the plucky dwarf. And the dwarf's luck remains for in that leap the beast misses but hits Durvan's Sword yet again inflicting another terrible wound in its hide.
Bryne continues to press the drow man hitting him both times and driving him back or seemingly so, but the man brings up his short sword and inflicts a minor slash across Bryne's thigh.
Niserie takes aim and send an arrow into the man in furs' shoulder, causing him to move slightly but enough to cause Thena's attack to miss entirely. The injured man also misses his attack at Thena.
Mave again strikes out at the elven woman but she is too quick for her, dancing out of the blade's path. And seeing an opening, the elven woman punches her dagger at Mave though she barely nicks her.
Ruskin again makes use of this throwing knives against the hag, however his aim is off on both throws. Morwen steps in to face her then however she is unable to penetrate the woman's magical armor. The hag then spits out several arcane words and two magical arrows appear beside her for a moment before she launches them at Morwen.
Kade and the Elven Man continue their dance of blade both hitting though Kade has the more skilled swordwork delivering a deadly strike against the man. Athan seeing an opening follows up Kade's attack delivering his own equally devastating attack and the elven man drops with a loud crash, bleeding profusely. The elven woman screams in fury as she sees this.
From the area where the shoeless shaman disappeared you hear the muffled sound of someone speaking in a tongue you don't comprehend.
Enemies Injured (Damaged): Drow Male (-16), Shoeless Shaman (-16), Tiefling (-8, Entangled), Blonde elven woman (-8), Blonde Elven Man (-34, unconscious and bleeding out), Painted Man/Wolf (-15), Skull mask woman (-7, Entangled), Adwin (Entangled), Dwarven healer (dead), Hag (-9), Man in Furs (-7).
Allies injured (current HP/Total HP): Ruskin (8/17), Mave (6/22), Bryne (17/30), Athan (20/25), Morwen (9/27), Kade (13/19)

Nis moves herself, away from melee, sk that she can target the shoeless shaman. In desperation she fires at the trained but reckless pace her people taught for sealing with cfowds of enemies...
===
Nis moves ubtil sbe sees the Shoeless Shaman or, failing that, any other spellcaster or the nearest foe.
She uses 'Elven Quick-draw shot' (from complete Elves ch 9)
to fire 3 shots (at penalty -0, -2, -4)
all aimed at the shoeless shaman, or as above if she cannot move to see him

Nis quick shot Shoeless shaman [1d20]=2,[1d8]=6, [1d20-2]=12-2=10,[1d8]=6, [1d20-4]=6-4=2,[1d8]=1
Shot 1: hits AC 14, bad miss
Shot 2: hits AC 6 for 6 dmg

“Cold enough world without gettin’ gone against by your own.” ~ Seth Bullock in Deadwood
Mave drove her sword to the hilt into the elven woman's belly, their eyes locked as she slides the cold steel back out. She glanced a moment at her brother entangled in more than Niserie's spell it seems. She hears the voice of the shoeless shaman but he was out of her reach for now. She had to deal with the woman before as she staggered back blood slipping between her fingers at the wound in her stomach, she feebly strikes back at Mave but that knife hits only air. The two badly wounded warriors continue their dance of blades. The elven woman's male counterpart groans and bleeds out more.
Torvik swings at the wolf though it is too quick for him, but the dwarf is not quick enough to avoid the wolf's snarling bite as it rips through his right leg, biting through his armor and barely missing the bone there. The two circle one another looking for the next opening.
Thena and the fur-clad man continue to battle one anther. Thena misses but in trying to evade her attack the man backs up and losses his balance on the uneven floor and falls backward on his ass dropping his weapon.
If Thena presses her attack she does so with a +4 bonus next round. The man cannot attack her, he can only retrieve his weapons and rise.
Bryne again presses her attack against the drow and her first attack misses but the second finds its target. Obviously badly injured, he tries to retaliate but his blade misses the agile ranger.
Niserie moves like a fury in flight, increasing attacks in quantity if not quality. She now sees the *shoeless shaman* but two of those arrows go awry, however the second one hits him yet again spoiling his spell. Nis is amazed he is still standing, and she can see the fear in his eyes...at least for a second, then she hears him say a word in elven,
"Halda!" which those who speak that tongue will recognize as meaning veiled or hidden. He then disappears from her sight.
Having little success with his throwing knives, Ruskin switches to his dagger and seeing the wolf's backside seizes his opportunity to arc his dagger in a backstab. The wolf cries out a yelp of unexpected pain now facing two attackers. Kade ignores his now fallen opponent and moves to attack the wolf adding a third attacker, but he is slow and misses his strike.
Athan spares the fallen elf a glance before moving to assist Morwen with the hag. He hits her though just barely, it is enough to deal damage. And Morwen follows up with another hit and then the hag emits a scream falling to the floor blood staining the stones beneath where she falls.
Somewhere in the distance shouts can be heard. It sounds like Sylas and his friend have found reinforcements.
They sound far-off but it is clear they may well arrive within the next 2-3 rounds though they will have the entangle spell to deal with too.
Enemies Injured (Damaged): Drow Male (-20), Shoeless Shaman (-22), Tiefling (-8, Entangled), Blonde elven woman (-16), Blonde Elven Man (-35, unconscious and bleeding out), Painted Man/Wolf (-19), Skull mask woman (-7, Entangled), Adwin (Entangled), Dwarven healer (dead), Hag (dead), Man in Furs (-7).
Allies injured (current HP/Total HP): Ruskin (8/17), Mave (6/22), Bryne (17/30), Athan (20/25), Morwen (9/27), Kade (13/19),Torvik (10/15)

Mave
Mave's ears perk to the distance sounds of other rogues approaching. She strikes out again at the elf woman before calling out to the others,
"Looks like we will have company soon. Do we have a plan to deal with them? I'm not sure I can withstand much more injuries."

Nis
tsks at the vanishing Shaman.
The shaman is invisible, a dangerous foe to have unseen. Anyone have a way to deal with that? she asks the others.
With little she can do about that part immediately she concentrates on dropping foes.

“Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you've got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.” ~ David Milch
Bryne attacks the drow delivering two more bloody wounds to join the others she has inflicted. Despite the many cuts he attempts a followup attack against the wily ranger but she dances out of his reach.
Mave remarks about not being able to withstand much more as she strikes out again at the elven woman missing her completely. The elven woman punches with her dagger again in her ribs and with a smile says,
"When my friends get here, I'll have them heal you just so I can cut you again and again. Ransom or not, you'll be mine for awhile at least."
Thena readies her attack on the prone fur-clad man as Niserie's arrow fly past her, and she barely registers the movement of them as she brings her weapon down aiming for the man's head, however he reaches for his weapon and it misses his head driving into his shoulder. He screams in pain as he grasps the weapon and starts to rise calling out,
"PRAKIS DO SOMETHING!"
Niserie, unable to locate the hidden shaman turns her attention to two other enemies but as she chooses her targets and fires she stumbles a bit on the uneven floor of the cavern. Her bow gives an odd twang and she half-expects the string to break but it remains firm, however both of her attacks are off and to her horror they hit both Bryne and Mave. As the arrow hits Bryne's shoulder she glances back and sees Niserie has just shot her. For a moment she wonders if the elven witch has betrayed them especially when she catches Mave out of the corner of her eye receiving Nis' second shot which hits her in the back, causing her to stagger slightly.
Bryne takes 1 damage and Mave takes 3 from friendly fire.
Torvik aims for the wolf ignoring the pain in his leg as he tries to hit the circling beast now wary of both Torvik and Ruskin. The two rangers of the horn attack but both miss the quickly moving wolf, as does Kade who tries and fails to connect. The wolf speaks in a raspy human voice,
"You cannot hit the chosen of Nizra. Dvergr, your blood tastes like honeyed mead. I shall have more." The wolf leaps upon Torvik biting out a chunk of his already wounded leg. It swallows the chunk whole and licks its bloodied maw. Athan tries to move in for an attack but the wolf is too quick and he misses.
Morwen then moves to assist Mave but the agile elven woman merely sidesteps from her attack.
It is then you hear distinct voices as the burly man who fled has returned though Sylas is not with him. Instead there are three more leather-clad men and a woman in chain armor. The burly man calls out,
"Keep away from the roots and switch to bows and fire over them!" The woman in chain armor calls back down the passage to someone unseen,
"Bring more men and some chains, the tide will turn quickly now."
Enemies Injured (Damaged): Drow Male (-24), Shoeless Shaman (-22), Tiefling (-8, Entangled), Blonde elven woman (-16), Blonde Elven Man (-36, unconscious and bleeding out), Painted Man/Wolf (-19), Skull mask woman (-7, Entangled), Adwin (Entangled), Dwarven healer (dead), Hag (dead), Man in Furs (-15).
Allies injured (current HP/Total HP): Ruskin (8/17), Mave (1/22), Bryne (16/30), Athan (20/25), Morwen (9/27), Kade (13/19),Torvik (5/15)

Torvik crawls back and digs out the bottle of "mother's milk" still unsure of what it does he downs the liquid and prepares to defend himself.
just realized don't have a description for what the mother's milk does or how much the healing salve does that Torvik has. Also unsure if I can toss my sword to Kade or Ruskin so one of them can use it against the wolfman.

Mave
Mave groans in pain as Niserie's errant arrow nearly kills her. She calls out to her companions, "I think this is a battle we cannot win now. I suggest we withdraw and if I do not make it, tell my parents I love them." She will not attack and takes up a defensive posture.

Thena
Understanding the fur-man's scream means there is someone in the room to the south, Thena keeps her shield high while her opponent scrambles to his feet, knowing she may be hunted by the unseen.
Tempus, this heathen will not repent... as she brings Rover down him.

At least the damage rolls were low
Nis curses quietly as her arrows go astray, she would have to make it up to them if they lived.
Don't talk like that, Mave! We should withdraw. Nis fires at the newcomers, safely away from her allies and prioritizing foes with bows.
