Keep in mind the spell doesn't indicate direction. So flee could become charge if you don't have some other reasonable info to base your direction off.
True but the brightness indicates distance so we can roughly calibrate our flee/charge... Having a longer distance means more time to figure out if we're getting farther away or closer.

True. Also in past play by my group Talin's Eye is sometimes cast on multiple objects at varying ranges so you can determine a range band of how far away they are. So say 3 items at 1/2 mile, 2 miles and 5 miles. If the 5 mile item only is triggered you know that they are between 2 and 5 miles away.

That's a pretty smart move. Might be good to have one more at 100 feet for dungeons and the like.

Algrim ignores the fact that everyone is acting like there is only one dwarf in the group
"Whate'er I dun believe in fate. More like bad magic juju sent us ere an now we are all goin off on a exploration ill prepared." he grumbles.
Isn't there like one non-dwarf?

I think so but all the remarks of thanks dwarf and the dwarf is right makes it sound like you are the only dwarf....in the words of the others.

Sorry for the delays in my posting.
No apologies necessary. Your health has to be your number one priority. I hope you are feeling better.

A reminder for Arngeir, he gets a Skill Improvement roll for his Ritual skill as he had a critical success casting Usnarl's Hug.

Group thoughts!
What do we want from the other two questions? With a critical success it will give more than one word answers.

Some possible options are where is the key, what is beyond the door

Keep in mind that you are asking the cave and it will only know what has happened within it. So if the key isn't in the cave it won't know the answer for example. But it could tell you the last person to visit/animal to enter it, who built the door, what is on the other side of the door. That sort of thing. Arngeir could do the same but it has to be the door he would ask.

See if it knows who took the key and when they took it?

Why not have Algrim try to pick the lock and save the questions for something else, or if he fails.
The key was likely taken centuries ago.

Yeah, this actually makes sense.

Agreed.
Potential questions:
What things were transported through this door in the past?
Is there anything of value nearby?
Who made the door? (Do we care?)
Where does the door lead? (Likely gives an extremely localized answer of no value.)

As it's a CS, we could try
"Tell me about anything of value nearby", although there are some subjective elements in the question, namely 'of value' and 'nearby'.
Something like "What dwarven kingdom does this door lead to?" or something like that.

Some good discussion here so I will let it continue until I get a post in character with something I need to respond to.

I vote for attempting to pick the lock first.
