Drest

We can head back, re-supply what we can and head back. Maybe recruit another person or hire a hireling?

Xenos

"Another one or two warrior types wouldn't go amiss."

Xenos will cover his face from the sun when they leave and ensure the others are covered and protected as best as they can be.

Akhilleus follows Xenos' advice. "Hiring some mercenaries sounds good. If we have the money for it."

Cyril
"Speaking only for myself, I do not have the funds to pay for a bodyguard, as much as I'd like that." Cyril seems more energetic on the hike back, now that the party has left the oppressive confines of the citadel.

A long, long, long discussion is had at breakfast, with the group eventually, maybe even painfully, deciding to head back into Xambaala to find more supplies and possibly more help.

Though they feel much stronger after resting, they know it is folly to attempt an extended dungeon crawl with such limited numbers.

As they leave the area, Akhilleus stares in the direction of the gargoyle they confronted earlier, almost certain the spoils they found in that spot will no longer be there upon their eventual return.

While they check their gear and empty the sand from their boots in the open courtyard of the ruins before they depart, Drest is sure he can hear a barking noise coming from somewhere outside the once opulent but now dilapidated palace.

Actions?

Xenos AC:6 12/12 1st:2/2
Akhilleus AC:4 32/32 (2 Ioun stones)

Akhilleus will close the gates of they're in that area and they're open.

Anyways he will take cover and be ready.

Xenos looks for some cover that might also provide a view of the surrounding desert.

Drest finds some cover where he can watch as well.

The foursome quickly bar the double entry doors and listen for any other threats.

The barking doesn't get any closer, but it isnt far away either.

If you had to guess, it sounds like it's coming from the rear area of the palace, a short distance outside the walls.

There are other sounds detected eventually as well; gnashing of teeth, growling, and possibly even dog on dog fighting.

A "climb" up to the open area of the roof to look out on the desert would take a successful Climb roll.

Drest

Drest will try to climb up to get a look. "I will try and get a look."

Climb (8:12) [1d12]=4

He didn't fall but note that he can fall 30 feet without taking any damage.

Akhilleus waits for Drest while watching around, in case anything comes.

From the top of the ruins, Drest can see the surrounding areas outside as far as the next tallest dunes.

At the back of the ruined palace, he sees a pack of wild desert dogs, around 15 or so in number.

The animals appear to have uncovered the dead bodies that were hastily buried there earlier, and are now fighting over which of them gets to eat the best portions.

He can easily make out the massive body of Snoori, the dogs near his half eaten form seem to be in an extra aggressive mood.

He doesn't see any of the pack at the front of the building, just beyond the barred front entrance.

Down to the others, "Wild dogs, eating our dead."

Are they in sling range?

Xenos

"If we don't get close enough for them to feel threatened they might be more interested in the food than us. Do you think we could find a way around?"
