Law of the Gun OOC
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I just wanted to clarify that Gideon is a true independent character who speaks for himself and his own thoughts and ideas. He's not a mouthpiece for the GM for providing hints and clues to the players. In other words, he doesn't know any more than anyone else about the current situation or what to expect. On the other hand, he does know a good deal about the town Waco and the surrounding area, gambling, and saloon culture in general. And he has a general idea of what's said about various parts of Texas and its bigger cities.

Is Jemmus waiting on All the TX PCs to weigh in on the camping decision prior to moving the story along? New info was given and only DT and Charlie spoke since then.
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Yeah, William's and Doos's posts are needed.

Looks like it wont work
He refills his canteens and has Cloud Legend drink also.

DoosCan I ask what Cloud Legend drink might be? Somethin from California, New York, or Bolivia? More importantly, does Doos have a proprietary ownership or a share of it? And how many bottles in his saddlebags? And how many unladen and laden swallows?

+2 points.

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I'm surprise Charlie didn't fish the creek we camped by...and rolled some survival skill checks
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I thought of it but decided against anything that could be considered distracting while he was on watch.
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I will be away with a army buddy of some [cough] 40 odd[/cough] years. First time face to face since working at Tripler hospital in Hawaii. All day Friday and Saturday.

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I don't remember the first time I played Boot Hill, sometime in the early 80's makes sense. I started playing D&D in 1979, so like everyone else I have been around a while, LOL.
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Me too, D&D in '79 or '80. I had Boot Hill and tried to GM it, but couldn't come up with any ideas for an adventure. Also 1e was really stingy with starting money for PCs. Couldn't even buy a horse. Of course we kids didn't dream of violating the TSR rules as written in stone and giving the PCs a little more cash.
We played Top Secret too, merging it with Steve Jackson Games Car Wars vehicular combat boardgame. That hybrid of wargame and RPG was hella fun.

All of the above, Gamma World, and Star Frontiers. Those were the days.
Some of the most fun in retrospect games were things like Villains & Vigilantes, DareDevils and Gangbusters. Many of them weren't robust enough for long campaigns, but were just fun. And, of course, Traveller, back when you could die in character creation!

I must have had the opposite type of friends then you jemmus, we broke every rule written at one point or another. One of the great things about all the system we are talking about (except maybe Traveler, I haven't played that one) you can't actually break the system. We change the rules on the fly whenever for whatever reason. All good as long as everyone is enjoying themselves.jemmus wrote: ↑Fri May 16, 2025 2:54 pm Me too, D&D in '79 or '80. My guys in high school were pretty competitive with each other, so no rule changes that might benefit somebody over somebody else. But my guys in college were more laidback.

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I hadn’t played Boot Hill before. I remember being intrigued about the Boot Hill conversion section in the 1e DMG, thinking it would be interesting to have a party show up in the old west.
Eight months ago I read a western/science fixtion novel. The planet was modeled on old west, with an off-worlder character getting into a predicament.

I like the genre mash-ups.

Genre mashups can be fun. I haven't read a good one in a while maybe time to see what is out there again.

I found this article tonight about Wells Fargo agents and bounties (including standard cash payments and recovered treasure splits). Our story is not that far off the mark!! This is supposedly official Wells Fargo history.
