You can't negotiate with someone who is charmed.

If their goal is to protect the pigman, maybe we can...

I wass all for going back, getting some gold pieces for our treasure, get some rest, recover hp and spells, and coming back again.

Agreeing with Karaunios, the fact someone 1) took the book and 2) left that door open changes the game. I'm not sure how it changes the game, but we may have an opportunity now that won't be there in a few days!

So I hesitated writing this, but I'm being selfish.

Meta game, this is Hyperborea. Bad stuff happens. My concern is that that Gem is one of those bad things. And if enough people follow along, suddenly the game has lost two, three, four more players. I'm enjoying the game, and have had a few too many TPK-like events in other games due to impulsive PC actions. And I love OM, but he has clearly shown that he won't prevent players from screwing themselves over.

In character, if Kain loses half or more of the party, including multiple fighters, it would be tough for the people left behind to press on. The encounters have been hard with a full party, things would be deadly with a split one. That is how we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

This is so much easier to discuss in person.
