Consequences

Avaala recites the word
"candle" and the small alcove appears below the plaque on the side of the obelisk again, as it did before. He quickly gets to work relighting his borrowed candle.
Grimm starts jerking arrows out of the troll as Wes pours oil on the things head, lighting it up into a greenish ball of flame with his torch. Luther pulls extremely dry thatch from the hut and starts piling it on the beast to spread the flame.
Cealwyn moves to the dead boar carcass, pulling out his knife to start cutting it up, not for the meat, but to make himself some gnarly jungle jewelry. Bonnie watches it all with pleasure, glad that everyone survived the ordeal so far, despite their differences earlier.

Bonnie
Sorry.
This week is always crazy.
A definite smile is seen on Bonnie as the troll ignites. She merely shrugs as her suggestion to take trophies is dismissed.
"As unpleasant as it may be, we need to think about shelter for tonight. We should check out the other huts and we need a plan to deal with those sleeping slizards."
She looks over to the obelisk and up at the light and circling beast.
"I'm glad we didn't destroy its nest. I wouldn't want that thing to get madder at us."

Cealwyn Blackthorn
Once the ranger is able to remove his prizes, he'll tuck them into a pouch and look over the great beast, raising an eyebrow. "I can't tan a hide in the wild, but if we gave it a good scrape it should weather the return journey and fetch a bit of coin at the shop in town once it's cured, holes and all. Be a shame to waste this hunk of meat, too."
"If we've time, I'll skin and quarter this monster for easy travel. Won't take a few minutes." If no objection is presented, he'll set to his task and welcome help from any who offer it.

Grimm makes a sigh of relief when he sees the troll burn to ashes. "We did it. I can't believe it, but we did it." At Bonnie's comment he looks at the sky with suspicion. "I hope it won't start attacking us now... I- I need a break.
Where are the two wizards, by the way?" He looks around and towards the obelisk.

Luther
Luther works carefully, favoring his injuries. When he's comfortable that the fire will be enough to finish the troll for good, he'll lend a hand with skinning and butchering the boar.

Wes
Wes grabs a few more handfuls of fuel for the flames then tosses his torch into the fire.
"I think we'll have to spend a few days recovering before we try the obilisk..The Shalm does not grant me the means to heal everyone overnight"
"As for the Slizards, we'll just have to guard them until we're ready to leave."
Oops! Forgot about that nest.
That was a close one.

Luther
Luther scowls and spits. They're just Scalies! Cut their throats, skin 'em, and make everyone a good pair of boots!

Avaala the Grey
Avaala continues to try to light the candle. Once the candle sputters into flame, Avaala grasps his staff and returns to where the portal was earlier. "Treasure!" he calls out. "The passage is open again!! Let's go!" He is hoping that his appearance will baffle the Shaman if he is still near the opening, or better yet, that the Shaman is lying unconscious from Treasure's powerful venom.

Consequences
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
During the next few minutes, more of the dry hut is dismantled and tossed on the fire, though care is taken to leave the main supports and the upper nesting area alone, after Bonnie’s reminder about the orange pterodactyl still circling overhead in the magical glow given off by the activated obelisk. The stink emanating from the burnt troll and all the permeated thatch is nearly unbearable to breath, as is the choking white plume of smoke rising into the air.
Once the fire is hot enough to melt troll, and Cealwyn has his macabre trophies in hand, he and Luther begin work on saving the copious amount of meat from the huge jungle boar. Grimm sees Mr. Wrenly guarding the unconscious Chauncey in the area where the dwarf hid from the battle initially, while Avaala is at the obelisk, working feverishly to find his dragon.
Once the grey wizard’s lit candle is placed back inside the alcove, the doorway into the obelisk appears along the side, just as it did on the first experiment. Looking into the darkness beyond the opening, Avaala can see nothing initially, until the fading daylight shines in far enough for him to spot what looks like an orange shimmer on the black floor, several feet inside the darkness. There is no sign of Treasure anywhere through the silent blackness.

Avaala the Grey
Avaala steps back for only a moment, lighting an errant twig or leaf with the burning candle, before using that to light his lantern. He looks to Cealwyn, and says, "It's me, Avaala." The Mage then points directly to where Chauncey is. "Chauncey is right there, just inside the tree line. Mr. Wrenly is keeping the bugs off him for now, but I do not know how long that will last. Please help him. I have to go after Treasure. Oh, and save that candle. I don't know if there are any more in the party." With that, he lifts his lantern high and steps into the portal.
"Treasure?" he calls.

Bonnie
She looks over the battered but not yet defeated party and sighs. "You're right, Wes. But first things first. We need to regroup and fortify. Avaala dragged Chauncey over there." She points to the edge of the clearing. "We need to move him somewhere safe. This brings me to my next point."
She looks Wes up and down. "You and Avaala seem to be the most stable. We need to clear those other huts. I'll go with you and scout it out." She calls out to the others. "Let's move Chauncey back here, and then see if we can use the other huts."
She starts moving to collect Chauncey.

Cealwyn Blackthorn
Once they manage to complete their task, Cealwyn will divide the meat as best as possible in a fashion easily carried by several members of the party, along with the well-scraped hide. He will then lend a hand as needed with shifting their fallen comrade to safety.

Luther
Luther posts himself near the sleeping Scalies. He's just watching them for the moment, his sword in hand.
If any of them show signs of getting up, he'll knock them back down, yelling vague threats.

Wes
Wes retrieves his spear from the ground and finds another chunk of wood to use as another throwing club.
He nods at Bonnie's suggestion. "That sounds like a good plan." Looking over the obilisk he adds, "Not sure when Avaala will be ready though."
"Let's check that hut over yonder, past where Luther is watching those slizards."

Grimm
"That sounds like what I would say! Make sure that everything's fine and then take a rest. We're all pretty battered. I need to sit down for a while and tend my wounds. But not yet." He goes pick Chauncey and drag him back, making a gesture to Mr. Wrenly to come along with them.
"Thanks for the meat, Cealwyn! Maybe you could start roasting it? So we have something to full our bellies with while we rest!" He laughs.
If time allows, he'll help Bonnie and Wes checking the huts.
He still looks from time to time to the sky with suspicion.

Consequences?
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
In the next few minutes, Grimm moves to retrieve Chauncey, dragging the unconscious mage back into the clearing with the others. Mr. Wrenly still seems quite animated, and the dwarf notices a strange expression on Chauncey's face, almost as if he wanted to say something, but cant. He ends up near Luther, who is now guarding the 3 remaining lizard men, still sleeping soundly on the ground where they fell, but not for much longer. Keeping one eye on the sky, not much has changed overhead. The huge orange flying lizard still seems content to hover on the breeze above the obelisk.
Cealwyn continues cutting and dividing the meat from the dead boar as Wes and Bonnie begin searching the smaller huts in the clearing. Oddly, the huts contain nothing but a sleeping area for the slizards. They find no personal items at all, in any of the huts.
Lighting his lantern and stepping inside the dark interior of the obelisk, Avaala disappears from the others vision. Once inside, he finds only total darkness beyond his light source. There is no reply from Treasure, but he does get close enough to the orange shimmer to see that it is indeed the shaman slizard who was also trapped inside when the portal was closed. The body lays flat on its back upon the darkness that makes up the floor, its huge eyes closed tight and a white foam dripping from its mouth. There is no sign of breath, but there is a small puncture wound in its exposed neck. Looking around beyond his aura of light, Avaala sees nothing but darkness in every direction.

Luther
While the Scalies are sleeping, Luther scrounges up some lengths of cord or vine and ties them up- one hand to the opposite foot, behind their backs, so they can't move.
