Yes indeed! Good spot! ;)

There is a bonus prize for the merchants ... who have a link to a desert planet.

I'm claiming this as "intentionally lazy" GMing. :SAN:

Some NPCs just need a "mnemonic" name to tell you who they are and help you sift and sort the near twenty I've just thrown at you!

I must admit I googled Wilson, Kepple and Betty. Apparently, they were rather well known vaudeville performers, known for their 'sand dance'

D'oh

Of course, the sand dance. The penny finally dropped.

Yup. Don't worry I can work with those rolls Recon would add to observation if you have it - I'll check.
Jakob does have Recon-1. In a sense, he has the makings of an agent; the cool nerve (Morale 15), the Intellect (12), and the observation (Recon-1). What he needs is an experienced (and cute) agent to mentor him a bit, especially in social skills. :P

Aw, someone beat me to the sand dance while I was working

Had a line: Will Wilson, Kepple and Betti be so at home in the deserts of Inchin they dance for joy?

In fact, lots has gone on while I was offline painting. Going to have to ditch everything I wrote and start again....

What Jakob would like to do, in the time before the "meet and greet" (a very common military tradition) is to get some short bios on the unit leaders. Skip is easy, he's a former Marine and SEH recipient. That sort of thing for everyone,
Jess's resume is available:

Resume: 7AA986, Gazulin Army, Cavalry branch, 7th Baroness al Shahrani's Mirage Dragoons, Four Terms. Final rank - Leading (Colour) Sergeant (E7).

Special Assignments: Specialist School, Cross Training Artillery and Infantry, Recruiting.

Awards and Decorations: 7 combat service ribbons, Purple Heart x2, MCUF, MCG.

Equipment Qualified On: Combat Rifles, Autocannon, Missiles, Wheeled Vehicles, Grav Vehicles, Sensors

The awards are for counter Corsair/Raider operations on Cordillon, New Moscow and MacDermont, and Peace-Making occupation forces operations on on MacDermont and Junction.

Jakob might notice she isn't wearing the ribbon for the MCG won toward the end of her service.

Don't be.

I used the line anyway, and you found out about a fine old Music Hall act. Everyone wins :D

Plus, I learned to take five minutes between walking the dog and starting work to fling up a quick post instead of just reading what's there and thinking "I'll reply to that tonight, it'll be fine."

I made the assumption that Jakob might know a little about Aslan, but not a lot, due to his low Edu. So he played off what he knows and left it simple. How's that?

The fault is mine; I was trying to dash off a response between storms and work, and didn't explain things well. Jakob would have gotten some basic intel on the other. Just general stuff, like the military resume Bindoner shared. Jakob would then use that sort of information in the conversations; a little here and there to build the team up and the confidence in us.

I don't really even expect the questions to be answered in game, I just like adding some conversation around a dice roll when possible. It often gives the DM a plot hook or an in to a story line. However, if that's not needed, then it just adds ambiance. :)

The other part of this is confession; I like to write. A lot. My "single day" record so far is 3,646 words in three different eras in the same setting.

You know, looking at the uniform collar, something strikes me...

This is the first time the team ( or pretty much anyone but Yūgure and that Marine ) have seen Jess without a scarf around her neck.

It covered a long scar high on the right side of her neck, under her jaw. Clipped by a large calibre round?

Don't be all Tommy Chong about it though, eh?

By all means publish a resume but I'll not need to wait on them to formulate the NPC responses (which I'll start on just about now).

I've slowed our headlong pace just a little so everyone has more of a chance to pitch in / catch up when they do. I don't want to loose the momentum we've gained in moving matters along just not have you folk in the "posting peloton" feeling the pressure to post is "immediate". Just "nearly immediate" ...

Right, having cleared that up I'll crawl back behind my GM's screen... :P
