IC
Re: IC
Aldus shrugs. "If there's a secret here, I can't find it. But that doesn't mean I'm satisfied that it doesn't exist."
Tapping the statue with one of the long darning needles he used in his investigation, he says, "We should bring some of the mercenaries out here with black and tackle, to haul this thing out."

Re: IC
Feargus
"Yeah. Agree with that. If we're raiding this thing then, there's no sense leaving value behind when we got the hands to do it. Goshawk - He didn't mean to step in it. Just dip the end of your polearm in there to see if it's just a few inches deep...So we have door number one or door number 2. I vote North. Gardo's in the lead though so I suppose it's up to him."
Feargus grips and re-grips his mace, and then stretches his neck to both sides to release some of the tension building up.

"Oh, sure, I can do that. You'll buy me a new polearm, though, if some kind of weird ooze disolves it though, right?" After a beat he checks the depth of water in one stairwell, then the other. Both look to contain about two and a half feet of water.
Re: IC
Gardo
Starting to shake his head at the first reply from Goshawk, he paused to let Feargus speak. Satisfied with the explanation of his motive, he watches the survey of the water.
"Okay, seems safe enough. I'm for the door here in front of this statue. Any objections? Make sure it doesn't start coming after me. Had an associate once who said his buddy had a friend that was attacked by a statue at some wizard's place."
Whichever door is finally agreed upon, Gardo will be test his weight on each step going down. At the bottom, he will stop to listen then open the door.

It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

Aldus: "Hang on, hang on! If you're sure that water is safe, then I should check both doors for traps before anyone goes banging on them."
Aldus pulls a few items from his sewing kit, and goes to inspect the doors, stepping with ginger distaste into the murk.

The Entrance Hall
3.5 turns elapsed
Aldus examines both doors but is unable to find any traps. Both doors are swollen in their frames and will likely require force to open.

Telemachus
"Here's where that warp wood spell would come in handy."
Telemachus makes sure he's not standing anywhere near the statue when either door is opened, and Casfrea is between the statue and him.

"Seems like Gardo was kind of partial to the more southernish door there opposite the statue. It's as good as any place to start."

Once everyone is ready, he then casts the spell on the door.
The door shudders in the frame and untwists. There's an audible groan as pressure is released, and it sags on the hinges. Gardo pushes it open, revealing a large chamber on the other side. In the torchlight it is difficult to see the far end, but he can see the floor is covered with the same depth of water. On the wall opposite the door, approximately thirty feet away, he sees a short set of stairs emerging from the water, rising to a dias roughly the same height as the floor of the entrance hall. Something large and white can be seen atop the dais -- and altar, perhaps, or a sarcophagus -- flanked by large, still, indistinct figures.

Craning his head to see around his taller companions, Feargus just says, "Well that's not ominous." He turns and gives the statue a long look and says, "Too bad you can't tell us what to do here."

Newton
"A temple, or burial chamber, maybe. Keep an eye out for undead, Nald we might need you"
He gets out a second lantern. Lighting it he carries it in his left hand, while his axe is ready in his right hand.
Is there any sign of disturbance in the water?

Gardo
Seeing nothing obvious, he responds. "Whichever. I'm going straight in."
Gardo will enter the room, shield ready and sword down in water, probing for anything he might trip on and to make sure the floor is there. He walks straight ahead from the door then turns towards the stairs when even with them.
