The Ruined Warlords Palace
The Basement Level, Late Afternoon

One member down once again, the group patches up Xenos as best they can before looking into the rooms in the next hallway.

From the doorway, the first room looks like it was once used as an office of sorts, though it is now completely ransacked. Rotting furniture and trash are strewn about the floor, with one dirty divan still somewhat intact in the southwest corner.

The room across the hall gives the group pause, as it appears to have been used for one single purpose.....torture. A stone rack for stretching the limbs of a victim sits next to another stone table filled with rusting metal tools and other instruments. 2 stone coffin shaped closets rest along one wall while dried blood from long ago can be seen splattered just about everywhere.

Cyril looks over the carved pillars resembling trees, finding their craftmanship to be of outstanding quality. The strange looking smallish dead creatures are searched, revealing absolutely no personal items among them. They all wear the same style clothing and armor, but carry very little other than their horseman's pick weapons. A total of 58 gold coins are eventually found on the lot of them.

Agreeing to get Xenos back up to the surface, where he can be healed again after a full nights rest, the trio return to the main floor of the ruined palace where they find no slaves remaining and no new threatening situations.

Drest

Drest will secure the room again once there and then rest/wait it out.

"We can each take 14gp and we can keep 2gp as group funds."

Drest will hold on to the group funds for now.

Sheet updated.

Cyril deposits the coins in his small purse. He sighs at the paltry contents. "I remember visiting an inn where 14 gold pieces and a smile would get you a bottle of their finest. Unfortunately I don't remember where that was. I will ask Azathoth for more healing this time. It serves me to keep you on your feet more than I have so far."

Coins added to sheet

Sorry, not sure what you are asking Drest here.

It might help me to understand what the groups intentions are here.

Are you planning on staying another night in the room you slept in before?

Heling up in the morning for a return to Xambaala?

Or are there other plans in motion?

Drest

That is what Drest is thinking. We are not well equipped for the area we picked and badly injured isn't helping.

I agree with staying for the night. Specially now that Xenos is like he is.

The neverending story

Sorry, Rex. I meant that Akhilleus and Drest can carry Xenos out of the room together.

No problem, I am easily confused. Not sure it is anyone's fault I think we are just in over our heads.

Nah. No problem. We took the risk, being wounded and all.

The Ruined Warlords Palace
Divan Room
Early Morning

The dwindling crew sets up camp in the same room they rested in before, hoping they have eliminated all the nearest threats so they can get some rest before morning comes.

With limited conscious bodies to set a watch with, they feel fortunate to make it through the rest of the evening and all through the night unmolested.

Once the dim rays of Helios begins to light up the morning sky in the open courtyard beyond the hallway, the party seems better rested and ready to plan out their next course of action.

Xenos

Natural healing: [1d8+1]=8+1=9

With the rays of Helios, Xenos stirs and looks around.

"So the gods still have plans for me then. Once again thank you for keeping me alive. What happened, are those creatures all dead?" he looks around the room "I see no piles of treasure, has the trip here brought is nothing but death and some floating rocks?" he sighs "Is there anywhere else to search? Are we going to try again with the gargoyle, or leave this cursed placed and head back to Xambaala? We must be low on food and water. It seems I still to find a means to pay for my passage away from this desert."

Cyril

Overnight Healing [1d4+1]=3+1=4
...wakes up feeling refreshed.

He makes his way over to Akhileus and runs his hands over his injuries.
Azathoth provides [1d8]=8 points of healing
You black out...and then You awaken to the sound of voices in your head, laughing. Only it is not a joyful sound - it is vindictive and cruel.
...and then moves over to Xenos doing the same.
Azathoth provides [1d8]=8 points of healing
You see Cyril touch you but his hand does not stop when it hits your skin. It enters into your body and feels like it roots around, painfully touching bone and muscle. Your vision...shifts...and you realize his hand isn't inside of your body. It is on the outside, just like it was when he healed Akhileus.
"I feel good about the gargoyle but I wonder if there is something of value there. We saw a shortbow and maybe a pack that has valuables inside. Beyond that though? And in the basement...I could see us being stuck here for another night if we re-enter."

Memorizing Cure wounds x3
Wow...double 8's on healing!

Drest

Natural Healing [1d6+1]=6+1=7

We needed some good healing rolls!

"Here is your share Xenos, 14gp. Better than nothing but we still haven't found much."

Xenos

"Thank you Drest, and thank you Cyril for the healing. It's not that I don't apprecitate your healing Cyril, but it always leaves me feeling...disturbed!" he shudders "Whatever we decide to do we need to make our choice quickly. We should head back to Xambaala either in the early morning or the evening to avoid the heat of the sun. It would be a shame to leave here without something else so maybe we can try with the gargoyle again. When you searched below did you see any rope or chain?".

"We should have a plan for the gargoyle, but at least we know it is guarding the remains."

Xenos

"If there was rope or chain we might be able to create a hook to pull the equipment free without getting too close. Without decent missile weapons it's difficult to attack the thing in the air. We need to think of a way to keep it on the ground, a net, or chains or something. "

Drest

"I have my cloak, I could try throwing it over it like a net. Some rocks for missile weapons. Not the best but better than nothing and there are plenty around. Just need to gather some good ones for throwing before we go to deal with it. The closest thing to rope I have is my garrote, but it isn't very long."
