A simple journey
Re: A simple journey
Everyone packs up their gear. Algrim and Arngeir roll the boulder back over the back entrance. Then everyone heads out, returning the way you came. As only Gerolt is mounted it is slower moving than he is used to but you make fair time, unfortunately you used a good chunk of the day exploring so you only make it back to the ruins of the old tower by nightfall.

As they pause to make camp, Turnip glances at Gerolt in his armor.
"Always wanted to ask. Do you sleep in that? Like the Khuzdul?"

Re: A simple journey
Algrim having no real agenda for the town merely finds a spot to drink by a fire and eventually will go to sleep, unless he finds good drinking companions then he might drink and have fun.

Re: A simple journey
Arngeir looks for a good spot against (or in) the tower that might give them cover as they sleep, but good visibility for whoever is on watch. Some where that would hide a good portion of a campfire would be particularly useful.

Re: A simple journey
Gerolt takes care of his horses first before bringing retrieving his bedroll and blanket.
"No, not always," Gerolt replies as he divests himself of his tabard. "Not tonight, I think." Removing his chainmail and helm, the knight takes a solemn moment to pray to Larani in a soft voice before laying down. He keeps his sword with him. "Wake me if you need someone to stand watch."
Re: A simple journey
The night passes with nothing of interest happening. The group pushes themselves hard for the day, using the horses to carry their packs and make it back to the village just after sunset.

Turnip has a look around.
"Is there some boarding room or somewhere we can sleep? Or maybe we just camp under a tree somewhere close? Arngeir, where's the celebration? Not in this town, I presume? Should be fun to watch." she smiles.

You did just arrive at the village. Arngeir wants to go to a manor further away where they worship his God Sarajin.

Arngeir
"Is good, friend Algrim. Will return after the ceremony, is 9 days long." he pauses for a moment and turns to Sir Geraint "Sir knight, would you lend me horse for journey to Geda? Would offer donation to church for help, and owe favour."

Turnip
Damnit I can't seem to find the short background you drafted for me Rex. Not in the chargen thread, and there are no private forums. Turnip was on the lookout for the bag's twin, that's what I remember
"I'll stay here with Algrim, if you don't mind. You have two horses, so I would only slow you down anyway- Have fun feasting Arngeir!" she smiles. "Back at the House of Delights we know a thing or two about drinking ourselves. You should try a smoke if you haven't already. Brings you real close to the ones in charge, you know." She points upwards. Who knows, maybe he'll speak to you. Especially if you donate your coin.

Arngier
Waiting for the response from the knight, Arngeir goes to speak to his friends in private.
"Back soon. If return to outpost be careful of orcs." he hands a gold coin from the outpost to each of them. He then asks Algrim for his share of the stash from the abbey (173d and 3 amber gemstones) "Have donations to make and pay for coming back."

Re: A simple journey
Gerolt had to think for a moment before replying. "Though I did nothing to help earn this, your donation to my church is most gracious. For this reason alone, I will leave the palfrey with you for your journey. The gelding's name is Baucent and he rides easy enough. Take care of him, Arngeir. Goliath here and I are fond of him. We'll see you return in due time."
The knight hands over the reins and walks up to Goliath, fishing out an apple and stroking the giant's noble head while letting him eat the apple out of the palm of his other hand. "Just you and me for awhile."
Re: A simple journey
Turnip turns to Gerolt
"So you're staying with me and Algrim, waiting for Arngeir to return? Sir."
"So you're staying with me and Algrim, waiting for Arngeir to return? Sir."
Re: A simple journey
Arngeir goes over to the horse ans strokes him and checks that everything is ready for a journey.
"Baucent? By my honour I protect him, sir Knight, return him safe."
He provides the Knight with 100 silver pennies.
"My thanks and respect to you and lady Larani.
I originally considered the gold coin, before I realised how much it was worth, and the gems are likely worth less than 100d, so hope this is an acceptable compromise.
Arngeir isn't going to rush his journey, as long as he gets there by dawn he'll be happy. He has some riding skill, but it's not great.

Arngeir has no issues on his night time ride and arrives at dawn in Geda.
