Glad the diagnosis is a really positive one and you can look forward to better health for a number of years

I have added +100xp to Golgarth. If I can survive until Christmas he might make 2nd level. My, time flies by in this game.

Hey all, I have a treat for you. I just found out that the Swedish Movie Institute put up official versions of songs from classical Swedish movies. Have you heard of the book Ronia, the Robber's Daughter? It's a 1981 fantasy tale for children by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, which was filmed in 1984. It takes place in medieval Sweden and we get to follow Ronia who is the daughter of the local brigand leader Mattis. They live in an abandon castle and we get to meet Swedish versions of trolls, evil spirits and harpies.

Anyway, here's the lead theme, "The Brigand's Song". If you're looking for something like authentic medieval nordic stuff, this is as close as you'll get. We used to sing this song all the time during breaks in school :)

Except for Ronia and her father Mattis you'll see Ronia's mother Lovis who tries to keep the brigands clean and also "Bald Per", who is very dear to Ronia and also struck some deals with the local goblins/gnomes.

I guess the Skyrim game and soundtrack was quite influenced by this movie.

I have sent a general private message to all my players in this game to prompt actions and encourage players that I am trying to return to a minimal, twice weekly action update in each expedition thread.

Hope you don't mind. It keeps each thread ticking over at a reasonable pace and everyone involved. A reminder for myself too not to leave you guys waiting on me.

No problems. Thanks for what you shared. If you don't mind I will roll for you to conclude this encounter so the group can act on assaulting the Harpy lair.

With a creak unheard for centuries from long rusted hinges, a billowing of dust and a chill air, those crafted doors of dragon scales open as wings might upon unfurling for flight.

The doors are opened.
Nicely narrated. Looking forward to what is next.

B****y h**l!! The Hand of Hoodoo was just a harmless mage school badge I invented to fill out Cosmo's back story. If things I make up for his char sheet description turn out to be this powerful, I gotta edit in some more 8-)

I find with SM that often such blessings come with roleplaying disguises, as Sven and his precious might be about to find out.

Fair play though to include stuff that seems innocuous but help make in game plot lines.

"Bravo!" to Gunter and Golgarth, facing off against a Wight with just a bless spell, some one-hit magic and a single silver dagger. Two critical hits out of three rolls and the Wight missing three attacks needing just 10 or 11+ maybe to not only hit the characters but to kill them outright.

Nice drama to read.

and just before dealing with the Wight, a critical hit upon the dark elf cleric stopped her casting spells (Hold Person) so that took another 'higher challenge' opponent out of the encounter, Golgarth hitting a natural 20 with a -6 to hit penalty for being blinded and the cleric having a protection from good aura. His last round of the Bless spell being in effect gave him a +1 bonus meaning he had to roll a natural 20 to hit AC5 and those 5% dice gods rolled in your favour.

The team delving in the maze also had luck with high rolls in their favour and low rolls against them. The statues hit for d10+2 and only a magic helm saved one character from almost losing their head. They slew a disease riddled undead cleric and unknowingly triggered the statues to attack them. But it is very attritional as hp and spells diminish.

The Harpy assault seems to be going in the group's favour, killing two of the flock and injuring more. That looks finely balanced ... for now (sounds ominous!).

The Snake-men team are poised to enter a lair, so they hope. Though one character has died. The praying man was preyed upon, defenceless from his comatose state, the comrades too late to stop him bleeding out.

The Sauron Mound team have overcome an earlier issue, broke a magic covenant that may have held them back and now press on to finish their mission.

Dalin and new character Johka are still discovering stuff. Setting aside one dilemma to help a man turning into a tree (lignification) in favour of completing favours for others. I just delayed slightly posting their updates as they are going to Bogtown which, depending on outcomes by Golgarth and Gunter, could have had various location implications. Perhaps the pairs will join up?

And that just about rounds up this week's actions.

Right, off to find a suitable Stargate type pic for those going into hell ....

Honourable mention to NPC Dellboy too who wrestled the wight three rounds this giving us time to kill the others.

I did think we wouldn't survive the odds. Man, if we had lost you would have had half a dozen Wights to contend with in town. Undead apocalypse maybe.

Most RPG fun I've had in years. Thanks Spearmint and Bluetongue. This adventure reminds me of how I got into D&D in the first place all those years ago.
Honorable mention needs to go to the Unseen Servant Dice Roller for saving our collective behinds. First level idiots facing off with a Drow cleric and a Wight? I thought we were gonners for sure.
