That's what I thought, we're a little short on those at the moment and I don't see them arriving home before the g-belt team needs to leave, since the g-carriers move quicker than the cars. I'm not sure there is any other option but have Frank take them.

Do we have any breaching charges that can punch that patrol ship's hull?

While having scantily clad beautiful women give him last minute parting gifts is all well and good, Jakob will also recommend SEMC consider specifically training and equipping teams for these sorts of non-line troop assault jobs. Maybe some Hostage Rescue Team training too. Of course, he likes training. :)

We can always recruit for the topless pistol team. The last members are honorably retired...

Jess has been doing her own "team workouts"...

SEMC has a lot of C4 and Jakob has explosives skill. He also has a half dozen or so globs of it handy, and some more in a pack. We may have more, and if so Jakob would take some. His place is either find an open hatch, blow a door, or go through the bridge view port. He has twice the amount of explosives he thinks he needs for that, plus some for disabling the ship if we can't keep it.

My thought is to take out its grav lifters, and then the landing legs. That would keep it grounded and immobilized for a while.

Stop Press: You have a man portable laser cutter designed to breach ship hatches that Beau is familiar with operating! [From the Bartizan].

It will eventually dawn on Beau to mention this to Jakob...

Used tactically the cutter takes a round to set up and a round to cut through (then a round to pack up again). To no one's surprise it is significantly quieter than explosives! :)

I remember 4DC (Tourmaline?) giving you breaching charges as part of some arms deal so you certainly have some that are good to go (at least two).

Breaching Charges
The assumption here is that these are pre-prepared "satchel" charges designed to be quickly placed and detonated in the assault pioneer role. They will have magnetic/adhesive pads and/or physical props or clamps to fix them in place on standard hatches/iris valves or against a ship's hull.

The charges are generic and do one basic job well in one basic way.

You can no doubt do something "cleverer/more efficient" with your explosives by "hand crafting" a "bespoke" charge on the spot.

However, be advised that there is nothing that warms the GM's coal black heart more than folk completing hurried critical tasks (quite possibly under fire) with things that explode! :P

NB Your collective naval/military know how will inform you that blowing air locks (of course) requires two charges whereas explosive entry through the hull requires but one. However, you need to know exactly where you are going to arrive inside the target ship to make this pay off!

Are the fighters on the Viper's Nest inside, or are they somehow mounted on the outside with access hatches to the cockpit? I'm thinking inside, but you never know. If the techs feel threatened, might they have the main cargo bay hatch open? That's the ideal, from the "entry" perspective.

My guess is that the bridge and engineering will have actual hatches, heavy and vacuum proof. Maybe the cargo bay hatches as well, so we need enough explosives to get through those. Jakob isn't likely to try and rush things. Of course, I'll probably regret writing that...

Addendum

But yeah, the cutter would be better. :) Still, not sense getting rid of the explosives before we're all done. You never know when might need some adjusting.

I believe these were designed for creating door-shaped holes in just these situations;
Ten TL 13 TDX frame charges (PEN 63 & 2.5kg) [Illegal configured in this format] 10 KCr
Although, yes, the cutter is obviously the better (read: cheaper ;) ) option.

Would it work to have a thread for updated equipment lists? For example, one message for weapons and armor, one for each decent vehicle, and one for other stuff. That might make finding the data much easier.

I'm doing the skill sheets for Jakob's team. Do George and Love have other skills besides Rifle-1, GrenadeLauncher-0, and GravVehicle-0? Is the Rifle the same as "Combat Rifleman", and has Jakob been able to add any skills since last he trained folk?

As to Viper's Nest she is indeed an Auxiliary Carrier and therefore effectively a civilian merchant with the empty hold making a "flight deck" to spot the fighters.

Because you are on the same vessel even all the non Navy types will soon see that by opening the massive doors at front and back the 400t trader gives egress / recovery for its fighters.

The military will also note that the 400t trader is effectively a "swiss cheese" of external hatches, side bay doors and airlocks so as to make any internal defence a challenge! I'll dig out the deck plans and re post them.

See page 1 and 5 of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=849&t=10122&start=80

It might be worth collating everything into one again. We did do that a while ago, but there are more and newer things now.

Being that far down the phonetic alphabet they'll be new recruits and therefore "as is" fresh out of the box / raw clay in Jakob's hands...

You can certainly award them one skill level or two fractions of a skill to avoid non proficiency in something.

Yes, Rifle is Combat Rifleman (and Pistol is all handguns).

They will have handguns 0 in response to your earlier query which I missed (sorry). I'm fairly sure Beau has handgun and cutlass...

No worries! Actually, my brain disconnected there for a bit; Love usually carries a PGMP, so that would be one skill for him. Let's give George a second level of Combat Rifleman for a total of 2. Beau does have Pistol and blade. Jakob would like to get everyone using the blade, but that's for a later date. :)
