Avaala the Grey

Fully committed to what pieces of a plan he has, Avaala continues to try to kill the Slizard fighting against his Bolo spell. But the situation has finally turned to the Mage's advantage and Avaala delivers a resounding blow to the creature's head.

Attack with Staff [1d20] = 20
Damage from Staff, Any Size Creature [1d6] = 4
So, 8hp damage, yes?

Wes

Wes skirts the cloud of bugs to reach Cealwyn and pull him towards the trees. As he does, he watches the insects perform their deadly work. Once it's obvious that the slizard is dead, Wes targets the closest one to him as their next victim.

Luther
Luther moves toward the carcass of the boar, stopping when he's close enough to take a shot at the Scalie in the open, NW of the platforms.
Longbow [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20 longbow damage: [2d4+1] = 5+1 = 6

He lets out a half laugh/half roar as another magic arrow strikes home.

Grimm smirks maliciously as he takes advantage of his position. He fires another bolt.

Light Crosbow - To hit: [1d20+1] = 15+1 = 16 (DEX adj.); Dmg: S/M/L [1d4] = 4

I don't know what's going on, but the dice gods are being specially merciful with me as of late. Not bad for a change of pace, but better not to push my luck!

Bonnie

As the various projectiles fly true, Bonnie gets a smile back on her face. She keeps her bow up and moves back to Cealwyn with Wes. "Thanks, Wes. They were going to throw him in that slurry. I had to do something."

"We need to get control of this. How much longer are they tangled up?"

Bonnie fires two arrows at the slizard right next to the pit.

Bow attack(20) = [1d20+4] = 7+4 = 11, damage = [1d6] = 5
Bow attack(20) = [1d20+4] = 16+4 = 20, damage = [1d6] = 1

Mop Up Duty?
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Wes rushes around to the side of Cealwyn, meeting Bonnie there, who was also thinking about pulling the fallen ranger into the tree line. The druid can see that his insects have already done their job, nearly devouring the first slizard alive. He points to the next closest monster and his swarm starts its way towards the 2 slizards stuck in his tangle of vines and weeds. After moving, Bonnie fires one arrow into the trapped lizard men as well, possibly feeling sorry for what it is about to experience. She asks Wes how long his spells will remain in effect, just as the first one starts to expire.

Grimm and Luther continue to fire on the slizards, the dwarf injuring the one closest to him as he stays just outside of their open clearing. The green lizard folk throws his stone ax at Grimm, striking the dwarf in his shoulder but ridding himself of his only apparent weapon in the process. 3 dam Luther moves forward before firing one more sizzling bolt of energy into the slizard he is chasing, dropping it at the edge of the stone platform where the obelisk stands.

Avaala caves in the skull of the slizard he is fighting, leaving its dead body at the edge of the platform where it had fallen. As he turns to see what the others are doing, he notices the effects of Wes's spell suddenly diminish, freeing the 4 slizards surrounding the fallen form of Chauncey who is also free of the vines, but remains quite unconscious.

Avaala the Grey

Thinking to himself that the timing couldn't be better, Avaala hits the four Slizards surrounding Chauncey with his Sleep charm.

Grimm

With what he hopes will be his last effort in this battle, Grimm drops his crossbow and tries to run through the slizard with his sword.

Wes

Wes kneels beside Cealwyn and casts Cure Light Wounds.

Cure Light Wounds [1d8] = 1

Seeing the results, Wes takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. Then he mutters "Thank you, Shalm, for showing me that I am unworthy and must work harder in your service."

Bonnie

Seeing the devastation that the swarm does, Bonnie decides to skirt around the entangled slizards and move south towards Luther and Chauncey. When she gets alongside Luther she stops and fires an arrow at the slizard clump near Chauncey.

"Hey Luther. Thanks for the rescue. They were going to toss Cealwyn in that slurry, couldn't have that. What are we going to do about that troll?"

Bow attack(20) = [1d20+4] = 14+4 = 18, damage = [1d6] = 3
One shot because of the movement.

Luther
Luther is winded after his severe wounding and the exertion of the fight. We need *pant* Fire- a lot of it. And *pant* quick.

The Killing Clearing
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Bonnie and Luther reunite near the stone platform, shooting into the mass of newly released slizards surrounding Chauncey. With his bound and downed opponent finally out of the way, the disguised Avaala doesn't waste the opportunity to cast his magic into the group as well, tossing some sand in their direction which suddenly causes all 4 of them to fall to the ground fast asleep.

Grimm drops his crossbow and rushes out of the jungle at the final slizard staring at him from the clearing. He cuts the wounded creature just enough to kill it, glad to see this ordeal finally seems to be swinging in their favor for once.

Wes watches his summoned swarm devouring another entangled slizard as he kneels next to Cealwyn, ready to preform the Shalm's miracle of healing on the badly injured ranger. When he sees almost no change whatsoever in the humans condition, the druid quietly wonders if his god has lost his faith in him after killing so many of these once docile creatures of nature. To make matters worse, he also spots the weeds and vines holding the last of the nearby slizards in place has started to diminish as well.

Luther
You folks finish off the Scalies. I'm gonna look for burnables to make a pyre- make sure that be-damned troll doesn't come back.
He heads into the hut, looking for oil or strong alcohol.

Grimm

Goes back to recover his crossbow and gets it ready again it after he sheathes his sword back. He doesn't even attempt going back into the fray, seeing from afar that the tangled slizards are starting to move.

Is there any lighted torch or brazier that the slizards might have been using for their rituals somewhere?

Wes

Wes directs the swarm onto the slizard standing near the cage. Then he casts another healing prayer on to Cealwyn.

Cure Light Wounds [1d8] = 1

Once again he bows his head, this time screwing up his face in anguish.

Avaala the Grey

Avaala runs directly for Chauncey. "I'm just glad you don't wear armor," he thinks as he pulls his friend into a fireman's carry and starts heading south around the Obelisk and then due east into the trees. He has seen what the edge of the forest does to the Slizards and doubts they'll be followed very far. Avaala discovers that his only-average strength doesn't allow him much more than a walking pace with Chauncey on board, and keeps a close eye on the other Slizards to make sure that cannot catch him.
