Sir William Narramore
Does Narramore have line of sight from that position? If so, he'll remain there. If not, he'll move up only far enough to get a good look at the creature for a clear shot.
The knight looks to his remaining companions. "Everyone clear? We'll give them a moment to get into position and then make our approach." He gives his heavy armor a baleful glance. "Not much chance for stealth with me, I fear. My intention is to get only close enough to take a clear shot, then give the signal immediately after I shoot."
That settled, he'll pause long enough to give the others time to settle into position.

Max
Max follows Sir William. Remaining behind the big man. Readying his sling with a bullet and holding another in his hand to be ready.
And waits for the signal from Dex and Fitz.

Fitzenbell
Fitz sneaks along with Dexter. "I just want to say, for the record, I think is a bad idea," he whispers, sweat dripping off his nose. "We Goldenhammer Gnomes aren't fond of snakes!" and then he proceeds to tell the tale of his uncle and cousins...the same one he told before they set upon this course of action.

To The Pits!
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
The stealthy pair of less tall members creeps through the thick jungle, eventually arriving at their attack lane without garnering the attention of the giant reptile. Drakkar just grunts back at Narramore.
“If ye move far enough ahead fer me ta get a shot,” he pats his bow and knocked arrow,
“I’ll give em’ a couple a these before we rush in.”
Needing to move forward a few steps to see the huge monster, the paladin watches its massive tongue licking the air towards the west, luckily the opposite direction of the approaching party. Certain he has given the others time to get into position, he steps forward, let’s out a sharp whistle.
Actions!

Sir William Narramore
The knight assures himself that he is out of Drakkar's line of fire before aiming at the massive snake and giving the signal. Before the shrill whistle dies, Narramore fires his crossbow.
[1d20] = 11, [1d4] = 2
He casts it at his feet once the bolt is loosed and reaches for his longsword, the mingled fear and thrill of battle coursing through his veins.

Max
Max follows suit with his sling.
[1d20+3] = 12+3 = 15 Sling
[1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4 bullet
Grabs another bullet and prepares for next round.

Dexter Broadleaf
Making sure to give Fitz plenty of room, Dexter winds up his sling with a bullet and lets fly at the snake, scoring a brutal hit.
Attack with Sling [1d20+6] = 20+6 = 26
Damage from Sling Bullet vs. Large [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7 The +1 is not a bonus, Damage from a sling bullet vs. L is 2-7.
I think this is the first time since I've been playing here to get a critical AND max damage!
Our server at work got hinky and sent the damage roll command three times. I took the first one.

Fitzenbell
Making sure to give Dexter plenty of room for his sling,
Fitz steps to one side and hurls three darts, one after the other, at the huge reptile (THACO 17):
Three darts: [1d20] = 3 [1d20] = 16 [1d20] = 15
Dart damage: [1d2] = 2 [1d2] = 1
"Kill it! Kill it!" his shrill voice cuts through the jungle. If the thing is still moving after the missile barrage, he may break and run. Or shit his pants. And then run.

To The Pits!
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Surprise Round:
At the paladins signal, a barrage of missiles is lobbed in the direction of the huge serpent. One by one, the three still on the trail move into position to get their shots off, most of them hitting the mark. The hidden gnome and halfling have similar luck, Dex landing an eye shot with his precise shireling aim.
The snake takes all the damage with a loud hiss as it rears up its thick neck and huge head, spinning around in the direction of the holy warrior and his Dwarven sidekick, as they both rush in to attack the beast hand to hand.
Actions!
Depending on my initiative rolls, it might be possible to get in another missile volley before the pair who are charging engage, but that’s totally up to you.

The paladin lines up to strike and slashes down at the mammoth snake.
[1d20 +3] = 1+3 = 4, [1d12 + 6] = 9+6 = 15
11 and 4 to hit, so far. Boy, oh boy, am I rolling well.

Fitzenbell
Fitz can't believe the damned snake is still alive. His mouth goes all cotton and his feels his bowels gurgle.
He thinks about running, but doesn't want to be called yeller...like his Uncle Festus when he was called out for tunneling in another Gnome's mineshaft...but that's another story.
If he can get a clear shot before the heavies rush in, he will sling more darts.
Three darts: [1d20] = 15 [1d20] = 5 [1d20] = 18
Dart damage: [1d2] = 2 [1d2] = 2

Dexter Broadleaf
Dex winds up another shot, very confident after his first attack landed so well.
"Heck," he thinks,
"I'll probably get that bullet back when we cut up his head," he thinks as he lets fly. Once again, the bullet flies straight and true into the snake.
Attack with Sling [1d20+6] = 20+6 = 26
Damage from Sling Bullet vs. Large [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7
I am glad the server keeps track of all rolls. I don't even want to guess what the odds are on those two attacks.

Ya, those rolls are weird. Really weird, actually. Lets keep our eye on it in case something needs to be reported.
I will give Darklin a little longer to post here before I roll for him to advance the action.

1 in 14,400 set of rolls. Certainly not lottery level of difficulty but still highly improbable.

Well, it wasn't the server here at work. The first set was from here (work), but the second was from home. But yes, very strange.

[1d6] = 6
Miss.
OOC- Sorry wasn't getting notifications from this thread.

To The Pits!
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Max, Dexter, and Fitz continue firing as the fighters rush in, plunking and sticking the huge snake a few more times. Dexter is truly showing off at this point when he smacks the monster right in the head again. The beast continues to flail and hiss as the hand to hand combatants close in.
Narramore charges with his mighty sword swooshing through the air. The snake sees him coming and rears back about to strike. Just then, the paladin slips on some wet leaves on the ground and starts to tumble mid stride. As he falls, the snake continues with its attack, chomping its huge jaws around the trailing Drakkar instead. The behemoth sinks its fangs in deep, preventing his blow from landing, then actually picking him up off of the ground slightly, despite his dwarven girth.
6 dam Narramore regains his footing in time to attempt another strike, now trying to save his friend from a horrible fate.
Actions!
Since the snake is L, I will allow the pair off to its side to continue firing missiles into melee without consequence, if they wish, since they dont have fighters directly in front of them.

Max
Max moves on down the path and around behind the tree and snake. Making his way to the opposite side of the tree. Puts his sling away and readies his mace and shield as he walks. Attacking next round.

Sir William Narramore
The big man growls and makes another wild slash, desperate to save his dour companion...
[1d20 +3] = 1+3 = 4, [1d12 + 6] = 1+6 = 7
Just...sh*t. This character is cursed with a huge damage bonus he never gets to actually use.
Sorry, Drakkar. We gonna die.

Two 20’s in a row from one character and then two 1’s in a row from another? Rex?
